A precisely five minute video, like the precision clockwork you work with.
Yes truly
5:01 for me
Its 5 minutes and 1 second
@@lolbhupati 1 sec for intro Ofc
@@tomr6955 I do believe that videos are one second longer on a computer. On the CZcams app it's 5:00
Just a small wrist watch, but an engineering masterpiece in itself.
This is a clear and beautiful explanation. Even though I've seen it all go together, it still seems like magic that it all works so perfectly.
Obrigado pela consideração
Yes beatiful indeed but still pretty close to zero understanding ...i guess is just me ( and you maybe )
@@marstvredplanet9491 i think the easy way to understand how mechanical watch work is: power + wheels + a middle controlling system. Everything else is just detail😂
@@namduonghoang5685 M,
@@marstvredplanet9491I also still don’t understand it. You guys aren’t alone.
Outstanding! I think I learned more about how a watch works in this five-minute video than probably from an instruction manual. Can't wait for your next restoration!
Today I learned how mechanical watch works , how the universe work and how life works
but i still cant understand how woman works.

Wonderful video! You might like www.asorockwatches.com
Africa's first luxury watch brand.
I'm still utterly confused by it all and always will be. I don't need to know how it works. I just marvel at it. I'm happy with that.
After watching this video, I decided to test my new-found knowledge, so I took apart an old wind-up wristwatch I had. But when I put it all back together again, I had several extra parts left over, and my watch still isn't working.
After many hundreds of hours of watching movement restoration videos during lockdown, I now understand how they work! Thank you.
The slow-motion of the hairspring looked like it was breathing. And just like us, a watch is like heartbeats. Your videos are interesting, pristine, and relaxing.
I have watched this video about 10 times and still can't understand this at all. :D
I love watching shows like this, initially I was put off by no commentary, but sometimes it's just nice to watch a craftsman at working in silence in a world that is all noise all the time, thank you.
I always wondered how mechanical watches worked. I feel like a big mystery has just been revealed to me. Thanks for sharing this wonderful video 😊
This is a *very* good explainer, because you show not only the assembly but also what effect each component practically has. Imo the *best* "how a watch works" video out there.
A followup with self-winding and chrono modules would ofc be great; though I appreciate that those might be more difficult to demonstrate.
Random thought... It would be nice to have a movement like this (whether by ETA or a custom modification) where the back plates were transparent (e.g. milled sapphire); as is they cover up so much of the watch mechanisms...
Quite a few manufacturers do this already, especially more modern watches, less so on vintage. It looks awesome.
Orient does this on their newer watches
As a person who always watching watches content everyday, this is probably the most simple video to understand how mechanical watch works..thanks mate
Even though it can't beat a quartz watch's accuracy, who wouldn't want to wear a mechanical watch? How intricate and awesome are they!!
No one talked but this is by far the video that made me understand more about the functions of a mechanical watch.
I wear a vintage Imperial "25 Jewel" watch that has a 17 jewel movement, manual, I always just knew they had gears in them but never knew how they worked in order, this video taught me a lot about my watch and how the layers and different parts qork together to make a watch work.
I’ve always been fascinated by watches. To understand how they work and the skill required to make them work never ceases to amaze me. Thanks for such an informative video.
Short, to the point, but incredibly good. I find it really cool that the movement is kept in black.
I got my first automatic watch and seeing the attention to detail and craft behind it is so fascinating! Makes me appreciate it much more
Wow, I have even more love for mechanical watches than I did before. Such precise craftsmanship, such an amazing piece of tech! Lovely video, simple and easy to understand.
Possibly the best video on watch mechanicals out there. Can hardly understand why some charlatan watchmakers make such a big deal of their profession. Fortunately, I have experienced some 'old school' watchmakers who love what they do and their results are amazing.
The precision of those tiny parts is mind boggling.
What an awesome lesson on the inner workings of a basic watch. It will no doubt still be a few weeks before I am ready to take on a Rolex, but at least I know what a pallet fork does now.
Thank you so much.
And what does pallet fork do?
@@femcel101 it stops the gear train from moving while winding the watch and powers the gear train via the balance wheel.
@@traviswalker8933 thankyou
I love all of your videos, but this one Is the best one so far. Always got lost when I saw you put back together the watch but this changes everything. Great work 🙌🏽
I still don't understand how it knows to change every second, minute, or hour with perfect precision. How ❤🕊
I just love when he dropped the hair spring in place and it came to life. Amazing.
Thank you Dr. Manhattan. Hope humanity isn't disappointing you too much.
What’s more amazing is how the idea of a time piece became reality.
Assembly aside, how on earth were such tiny mechanisms manufactured in the past? It's a work of art. I imagine watchmen also had a mini lathe or something.
Thank you for that, the black main plate and bridges gave clarity to how the whole movement is put together. It gave me a better understanding of how it works.
This is a great concise starting point for anyone who is just getting in to mechanical watches. Well done.
Another incredible view into human engineering. The mechanical watch. Humans developed a way to measure time on earth and then constructed a device like this completely void of electricity to monitor time with absolute precision. Simply amazing.
You explained in layman's term, fantastic video with 5 min precision ending.
Génial ! You won the "Most helpfull" award.
I can't wait to go back home and try to do something with those broken watches I bought on an impulse...
Incredibly beautiful to watch. Thanks for sharing.
One of the best videos I've seen. It amazes me that all these small parts work in perfect harmony together. It's rather peaceful to be honest.
I simply just want the movement. It looked lovely in the black!
Absolutely wonderful and exactly what I wanted to understand!
I find it outstanding how watch components this tiny would have been made back in the day!
This is the best, superb clarity. Hoping to see how the mainspring slowly gets unwound as the watch ticks
In just five minutes, I've learned how a watch works in more than basic detail. 👏🏾 👏🏾
Excellent video showing the precision machining required to keep the delicate interconnected parts in perfect sync and harmony . A horological work of art that amazes with its reliability and beauty. RDR , myself and other viewers would like to hear you rank watch brands from best to worst in terms of actual quality . The snobbery that is an unfortunate part of the luxury watch world makes an impartial appraisal difficult for investment and enjoyment.
what an absolut beautifull video, thank you very much.
Very clear and easy to understand! The slow motion of the balance wheel was especially helpful to show how it keeps time at a specific rare! Thank you!
Excellent demonstration which clarifies the working of a mechanical watch will concise precision. Love the simplicity of the movement used, which appears to be parred down to the essentials. Well done.
Perfect. Very informative. Love this black movement.
this is fascinating! To see all of the different mechanisms working together in such a small but life changing device, and to think of the person who invented the first watch. Phew! Incredible! thanks for sharing!
When I was a teenager, my Dad’s best friend had a watch repair shop. In the summer of 1980 I started working there as an assistance. Learned how to clean and polish the watches. He gave me an older Hamilton watch to work on and was my project to repair it and make run. It was challenging at first. Finally got the watch running and with a new brown leather wrist band it was beautiful piece of machinery. Had it for years and unfortunately our house got broken in couple years ago and the watch was stolen 🥺 My Dad’s friend has passed away since then and till this day, I still fix my own watches including the wifey’s. I would of continue this career path. Back then I was into sports and weight training and my hands were to rough for this line of work. Almost need a surgeons hands to handle those intricate pieces of gears. Great video by the way and brought so many memories 😁
That sound at the end. ..
Just beautiful
What a beautiful watch. The face was striking in its simplicity. I would love to know who made it.
This was great. Would love to see a video like this on an automatic as well. Great work! ♥️
One of the best video about mechanical watches working procedure .
For some reason, with all of the repair and movement explanation videos I've watched, it never dawned on me that you wouldn't be able to wind the main spring without the escapement in place (which makes perfect sense, of course). Thank you for this.
Very good breakdown of the basics. Thanks
Amazing job, I've been watching a lot of watch repair videos and I didn't get how a watch work until I saw this video 👏 bravo. Thank you for your effort and great display
Thank you for this video, clear and concise.
Thank you for this video. Best 5 minutes invested in CZcams ever.
Cannot wait to watch this!! Always wondering how the watches you restore actually work!
Excellent introduction, easy to understand how a mechanical watch works. The Black caliber looks cool, thank you.
Holy shit this made me appreciate the sheer precision and engineering a watch takes its actually quite mind blowing
Thank you, thank you, thank you, I literally have tears in my eyes. Thank you
Beautifully explained with a simple movement. 🙏🏻
Brilliant explanation with outstanding cinematography.
Best video out there explaining how it works
Insane simplified explanation, thank you so much
Beautiful. Simple and to the point. Not to mention outstanding footage on how it all fits together. Absolutely gorgeous!
Wow what a great explanation. After watching this as a novice watch modder I think am going to start the next step.
Cheers
В реальных условиях сборки колёсной системы я применяю специальные пластины кондукторы. С ними проще устанавливать мосты и цапфы колёс.
I can tell he's a Red Dead Redemption fan by his channel's name and I'm loving it. If not, he should play the games.
Thank you. I’m really thinking about going to watch repair school. I really enjoy the precision work. ❤
What a great video with so beautiful music! It truly depicts the love of watchmaking by its creator. Simplicity and percision. Thank you for sharing again with us this love! Cheers!
I love the quality and effort you out in your videos.
It's good to reward ourselves sometimes . While I'm not one to spend on high-end watch (I spend too much money on travel, lol), I can appreciate your gorgeous and timeless watch. I love how it's a symbol of all your hard work. And i choose NKUWAN every time honestly
Clearly shown just what is needed to be shown.. loved the video. Finally the question of how watch hands precisely rotate just enough to turn a sec is answered.
I always wonder how watch works and this was amazing...
This was awesome!! I love it, so perfectly explained and the editing along with music was very enjoyable. Will watch again!🥰
Thanks!
Incredible, I have no words to describe what am I looking out, great job!!!
Such simple yet informative video. Thank you.
awesome vid! definitely something i’ve wanted to learn about and you made it so simple to understand! i went and tried turning the crown on one of my automatics and it’s wayyyy more efficient than jostling it to get it started like i have been doing! thank you for the video!
Que maravilla! un sistema totalmente mecánico de antaño que sigue vigente marcando las horas y la admiración de muchos 👍
And yet another awesome tutorial from the Master of time keeping himself❤️.
Never thought I would care about how the inside of a watch works. Yet here I am at 1 am. Beautiful stuff.
Mechanical watches are an amazing piece of human ingenuity.
Marvelous short film...thank you
What movement is that? It looks familiar as I think it's the one Mark uses it in his training videos, but I have never seen a movement with black mainplates and bridges like that. Is it a movement built for teaching watchmakers in school?
Would love to know this too. The Black looks incredible
The movement is a Julien de Bortoli DB6 (derivative of ETA 6498)
It feels like that I was exploring the other world. How amazing it is that all the things around us have some mechanism in which they work. This video has made me curious to know more about things which appear simple but have complicated and amazing mechanism.
To think its just all about cleverly using periodic oscillation
Finally got some answer to this mystery amazing quality and production value!
What a wonderful explanation! Thank you!
Thank you for effort and sharing piece of beautiful art❤
Best 5 minutes I invested in a while.
I think this is the best explanation I have ever seen of how a mechanical watch movement works. Excellent video.
Simple! Great! Relaxing... Thank you for this.
Thanks for making this informative and different video. Very interesting and simple learning. Goodluck !!!
I see how it all goes together but not so much how it all works together. I would imagine someone like myself with absolutely no mechanical understanding what so ever would require far more than this 5 min A to B to C tutorial.
But it's a good start. So, thank you.
Truly a work of art
awesome 👏
This is precise engineering and art blended together in astronomical proportion.
Mesmerizing motion , the gears the jewels , spellbinding !
Super informative. Thanks. It’s amazing how human intuition discovered how to put all these parts together to create something super efficient.
Very satisfying.
Amazing,truly a work of art
How intelligent the inventor of the system was!
Straight to the point no unnecessary nonsense, one video and an immediate sub
