This is as honest and transparent a video of how a high end watch is actually made. Basically it is made industrially, and then hand finished with electric tools, and finally extensively tested. But, no it is not made by a 5th generation Swiss Master Craftsman high in the Swiss Alps painstakingly hand crafting every component like they did 200 years ago.
@Aryan Sharma which is why I find it strange that they have such high price tags.
I think there are some people who do that. But it is a slow process so those that do so cant make too many of them
There are def some great watchmakers that only use their hands. Search up masahiru kikuno
you obviously know nothing about manufacturing. It's not because you use a machine that it suddenly becomes easy. Very, very, VERY few people can do what engineers and technicians there do
Théotime Nieradzik are you professor nutty, handmade is handmade you are seemingly weak on the linguistic side of that man response. Using machines makes it not a handmade only the aesthetic finishing is which in my opinion is at max half hand made if that. Swiss Patek and Germany Lange & sohne are milking it while feeding their sheeps that lie of fully handmade watches.
The quality control methods they use are astounding.
All Marketing BS. Even cheap mechanical watches uses the same movements.
@@ziryab92 name one.
@@ziryab92 actually, name one lmao
@@ziryab92 I don't think you know what you're talking about.
@@ziryab92 still waiting to buy those watches with the same part, method and cheaper price, we're counting on you
When I was younger I always wondered why my dad liked so much watches.
Now I understand.
You dad would be proud if he saw this comment.
@@anuragjangam i am dad and i am proudly viewing this comment
@@lanemcnally5159 awesome.
@@lanemcnally5159 hi "proudly viewing this comment", I am Dad.
You see all of the state -of-the-art tools and machines , now think of making these watches with more simple tools like they used 150 years ago . Watchmaking has always required great skills.
Think of the poeple that had to make and invent those tools 300 years back. They had to invent tools to work and measure to accuracy's that had never been done before.
This is just simply phenomenal, micro engineering at its finest
Imagine how people did this 200 YEARS AGO
Like A. L. Breguet.
Yeah that's just crazy! They were absolutely amazing artists
a c they weren’t automatic watches back then and far away from being precise. You actually had to set it correctly every day, because it was so badly precise
@@iMin00 That's basically how inaccurate my seiko 5 is 💀
@@iMin00 o hush
this thing is more cool when being made than being used, it's like a high stake jigsaw puzzle
Absolutely stunning! Wow, gorgeous watches and so great to have a glimpse of the art of the making them
This is the most beautiful video I have seen on youtube. Thank you Bloomberg for making this. My highest regards for your endeavors.
INSANE JUST INSANE ...QUALITY.. PRECISION.. JUST BEAUTIFUL...WOW !!!!...MUCH RESPECT !!!👍🇨🇦🇬🇧✌
Amazing. Something that small, delicate and complex can be accurate in time.
Never heard of this brand but after watching this I'm extremely impressed they look incredible
and they are fantastic pieces. I have the Nebula in steel.
A craft brought to it's highest form. I would enjoy just viewing the variety.
Beautiful video and great narration editing! The $4000 Olympus microscope for checking dust is probably the cheapest tool in the shop. :)
These watchmakers have my utmost respect.
I'm very captivated by mechanical time pieces. Wow.
Love companies with a unique goal : trying to deliver the best.
Quality not quantity.
Precision is a powerful message.
Great craftsmanship, respect
Great job. Let us keep horology alive for a few more generations. I am with u all for such activities.
WOW!....THIS is FASCINATING and very EXTRAORDINARY artistic interfacing and monstrous technique mastering....WOW!...
Much LOVE and much RESPECT,
.....from 🇺🇸👍☺
Still one of the most amazing crafts I have seen.
I used to work in a factory setting such as this is
but it was more like putting fuses in plugs than arts and crafts.
Although this advert strengthens my certainty in being able to relate to the repetitive nature of a similar day’s work, it curries a deeper desire, a hope that the lives of these employees isn’t being put to waste.
I lasted a little under a year. I hope your aptitude leads you further afield yet.
Kind regards
LM
i will surely buy one when I get job , this kind of complex art and science make me proud that I have five fingers.
human ingenuity is incredible
Even crazier to think of all the complications that some watches have. Like the IWC Big Pilot Perpetual Calender, which keeps track of the time, day, date, month, and year, and has a power reserve and moon phase. Not to mention it accounts for months that have 30 or 31 days, and accounts for leap years, all done mechanically. Or the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Grand Complication which has all of that and a split second chronograph, all for the low price of roughly $700,000.
What a bargain
Costs justified! This is art and science in motion. Lots of respect.
İmpressive. I loved factory and production system.
Magnificent skill and art
This js so satisfying to watch.....
This makes me feel love and hope for humanity again...we can do anything if we respect eachother and work together. I was a high level machinist for 12 years. This is art!
ditto
Didn't know about Arnold & Son -- would totally buy their product!
this is the great content that people should enjoy from the internet.
very cool. I love how all the precision workers are licking their lips when they work, haha.
I'd get sacked in 1hour lol
i wouldn't last that long.
Why hahaha
I would prob get frustrated and punch it
@@silentinvestor you mean throw it to the floor
Yeah that's a type of time piece you dont stroll around the hood with 😂

One of many many reasons why I am absolutely in love with watches
Very, very interesting comment. I'm obsessed with watches. They are, I think, literally, paintings in frames. Unfortunately, due to cell phones, I think people have lost interest in wearing wrist watches. I HAVE to have mine on me all the time. It takes too long to pull the cell phone out to attempt to look at the time rather than the turning over the wrist.
this video is so beautiful
Wow, 😯 bespoke is just like Haute Couture, I'm not into watches but I love the process. The artisans are so passionate like me I want to be the first Couturier designer in America, hand craftsmanship has vanished over the last century in New York we need talented artist and designers to take this generation into next world. I have been blessed with a gift I choose to stand up and make a change for our next generation to come.
Thanks for sharing!
Love it, just amazing!
Very nice craftsmanship
I would like to work in such a factory by mwnos I would be seeing up close these wonderful mechanisms
And just wonderful
spectacular
Amazing Craftsmanship

Im not really a materialistic person so what else do I love?: My family..

Freaking beautiful
This manufacture deserves the same attention that the other famous independent watchmakers receive.
Very interesting video. Thanks
Amazing
Sensational
Wonderful
I really want to know the name of that last piano song that was played.
This is so fascinating.
Amaazinggggg
Very very cool!
Amazing 😁👍
How did they make the parts so small and accurate 100 years ago ?
I wish I could own this piece of art.
What software is used at 1:03
anyone knows what software they are using for cad here ?
Awesome.
Do they tell the time faster?
What is the software they are using at 1:14 please?
magnificent
It's all about the finesse...
Maybe one day I will buy one of these watches. That would be nice.
What's that song at 3:43??? So beautiful 😍
I wanna go to Switzerland 🇨🇭
Very cool
Like many great pieces of artwork, it should be kept safe in a... well, safe.
watch the video before making a snarky comment about how your quartz watch is more accurate
Quartz watches are more accurate and yes there are high end quartz watches.. Bet you didnt know quartz watches could have rubys in them too.. But mechs are far more beautiful and enjoyable imo..
I want to learn but where to learn and how
newfound respect for watches
i like it!
What is the name of the music piece that starts at 5:40 minute mark?
عجييييب... ابيش تقريبا الوحده
The dexterity omg wish I wasn't such a klutz.
I thought this was gonna be some bullshit cash grab video, but this is actually a respectable process (unlike that "high end" speaker assembly video). It actually takes a lot of time, effort and nice materials to build these. Is it worth $30,000 for one of these? Probably not that much. But it's impressive nonetheless.
It's more so about supply and demand, expert assembly, quality control, and R&D than material costs.
@@ILOVEXJAPANXXXX you think that's being hard on someone?
Price is all about perspective. My uncles a CFO at a very large Vegas Casino and he collects these kinds of watches (different one everyday kind of guy). It’s not expensive to him, just a hobby, though a single one is the same amount of money that a teacher makes in a year.
of xourse it is, what do you know? you own one?
don't forget the amount of money it costs to hire the horologists that work for these companies!
cool job there... I want to work in that factory :D
As a former Rolex worker trust me, it’s really tedious and only the type of thing you go into if you’re extremely passionate about your craft. Luckily enough, I was and am.
When a watch costs more than an average Toyota!
They do also last far, far longer than the average Toyota though.
have you seen an audimars, or a rolex or whatever last for over 300,000 miles?
Ravi Rajyaguru yea and it will keep its value where as the Toyota loses value as soon as it leaves the lot
Panzer Applehusky and have you seen a toyota or a honda or whatever last over 50 year?
Bob's Performance Yes.
nice video
how much?
Fantastic watches! How long do wrist watches last?
As long as they are serviced, probably lifetimes.
Unlimited power
Thumps down to quartz movements!
I'd love to see a drop test
cAN I VISIT THE COMPANY
They must be so good at Operation
Mini Universe of its own. It was too short of a video though. Timepieace of art.
