As a bama fan, Texas played outstanding. I HATE seeing injuries and the fact Texas still put themselves in a position to win the game showed just how well prepared they really were. Tremendous effort. I was very impressed with the gameplan and you could tell bama was rattled for most of the game. Texas you guys will be a great addition to the SEC. You guys outplayed us 99% of the game. I have nothing but the upmost respect for Texas and their program. I hope everyone gets healthy. Good luck the rest of the season!

I applaud Saban for telling his players to "stop that shit" (regarding bama players giving the horns down) as he jogged out to shake Sark's hand right after the game. Sark has Texas back in the fold. So glad he's doing well after all his struggles and love how he credit's Saban for giving him a second chance.

Texas and Oklahoma need to be playing these auburn, bama, Florida, ole miss, Ohio state, Michigan, etc games during the season. Screw playing conference USA schools like UTEP and UTSA, playing these sec schools and big 10 will be better in the long run.

Nothing but respect for this Tide team. We had chances. I don't know what the safety call back was. Might of been the turning point. Either way nobody can say anything bad about this young Texas squad. We played our tails off. We just didn't win. That's all. We always play well against top dogs. No matter who it is. @@melvynobrien6193 the penalty was literally overturned. Calm down. And it wasn't a safety because, as you stated above, he wasn't down. He was throwing the ball to #2, 3 yards away from him. It happened to hit a defender in the helmet. The refs never called it a safety on the field either.

I learned 2 things
1. Being ranked the number one quarterback in your class REALLY means something now. You are 9/10 as good as advertised. The last 5 years have proved it

You know, I’m glad that this was a good game as a collage football fan, but as a bama fan I’m pissed, we made soooooo many mistakes and honestly we deserved to lose, props to Texas for coming out and putting up a fight.

Honest question:
On that safety play if the ref called a penalty for targeting on a passer (a live ball foul) how did they not also call intentional grounding or at least a fumble if they considered the play to still be live?? It wasn't a fumble, so they can rule that out, so it would have had to be intentional grounding in the end zone for a safety... right?
Edit: basically there were only 3 possible outcomes on that play
1) QB was ruled down in the end zone before the ball came out = safety
2) QB fumbles the ball out of the end zone = safety
3) QB attempts to throw the ball but it doesn't travel past the line of scrimmage, resulting in intentional grounding in the endzone = safety
Instead Bama got to keep the ball and punt on 4th down

So on that play you can see the running back number 2 jase mclellan he was in the vacinity therefore making it not an intetional grounding. Bryce young's hand was down and nothing else so the play is alive.
The hit on Ewers was late, intentional and dirty. Young and crew were great when they needed to be great
I don’t think it was, the game moves fast and players can’t read minds. What if Ewers pump fakes and side steps the rusher because the rusher let’s up a bit and throws a td? Playa have to be finished and in football with the amount of weight being thrown around, people can get hurt

Look I'm not saying that Alabama wouldn't have scored a touchdown at the end of the game, but that safety that Texas didn't get really hurt. Also Texas should have been up at least 8 if they had those two points and didn't miss the half ending field goal. Alabama just had a game like this last year in the Iron Bowl against Auburn so I wasn't shocked by the calmness of the team... I'm just wondering why the allowed themselves to get into a fight like this again so early in the season.
They thought they were 20 pt. favorites and they ran into a dog fight.
Yeah Bob we didn’t look ready for some of the looks Texas was bringing but was able to squeak out the win and that’s all that matters. Having 1-2 sloppy games early in the season is fine, as long as they continue to grow as a team and individually understand their roles and jobs. They’ll be blowing out teams as usual. In other news, how about Marshall bringing the heat at Notre Dame. I’m a true Stanford fan, and I’ve got a friend who’s a diehard Notre Dame fan, and so I always love seeing Notre Dame get drowned by their own mistakes.

I'm not a fan of either team, but I watched the entire game. Texas looked like the better team. They were playing with a second string QB (on one leg) and still only lost by one point. A healthy Ewers, and Texas wins by double digits.
As a Bama fan, firstly great game Texas! I see Bama has a lot of work to do if they want to go to the playoffs but it’s a long season and they can improve. My hats off to Texas and their fans!

man this season was frustrating as a bama fan. Obviously we're spoiled, but looking at this game if kobe prentice and isiah bond hade made a couple catches that they should have alabama probably walks away from this game. And of course I have jahmyr gibbs' drop against Tennessee that would've iced the game engrained in my head forever. Penalties and drops turned a 12-0 team into being lucky to be 10-2. Lot's of props to steve sarkisian. I love seeing him be successful. I hope he's the next after nick saban.

Hella of a game. Texas DC had a great game plan to stop Alabama's rushing and receiving game. The Alabama defense needs to clean up their penalties many of those could've been avoided. Texas offense played one heck of a game dealing with one of the best pass rushes in the nation, but Alabama's defense played better in the second half and had more impactful plays. Props to Bryce Young and Will Reichard for making the plays for their team when they needed to. Prayers out for Ewers and Card hope for a quick recovery. Glad to see Texas is back and in my opinion should've won the game. See the longhorns next year at Bryant Denny. Feel free to leave your opinions kinda new to talking more about college football didn't get to watch the whole game because of work.

Everyone wrote this game off as a blowout, but as a bama grad and Oklahoman, I knew Texas fans and players would make this an absolute war. I think most big bama fans knew this was not going to be a cake walk, and Texas SHOWED UP. If their defense plays like that all year, everyone in the big 12 is going to have problems. Hopefully Quin is good to go, but that was a clean hit by Turner.
What a game! My heart was thumping at kickoff and even as the game got underway. I didn't know what to expect, just hoping the floodgates wouldn't break till after halftime. If they didn't have that #1 next to Alabama, you would have thought Texas was the better team. Besides the final score, I was so proud of the Texas team. Not gonna play the what-if game cause if UT would have gotten that safety and made the missed field goal, Alabama would have probably scored more also. Happiest loss I can remember, but as time passes on, I do wonder how great it would have been to get that W.

Yo, the refs literally tried to redefine the targeting rule to include legs. That was 100% an intentionally bad call to bail the Tide out of an otherwise legitimate safety.

Not really. Alabama won 2 games on the road last year versus Auburn and Florida by 2 points. This group of players just doesn't perform perfectly on the road but usually finds a way to win.
