Starkid Low Notes

- For all our beautiful baritones and basses.
So there's a lot of celebration of high notes and belting and whatnot (rightfully so) I also wanted to give a shoutout to Starkids using their lower ranges. There's not really a cutoff of what I considered low because they all have different ranges and I'm no singing expert so for example what is low for Joey is different than what is low for Jim, but I tried to include clips of some of the Starkids with deeper voices showing off the lower, more resonant end of their range. - Zábava
corey corey corey corey
Bonus points for not cutting Wagon on Fire so we could go feral on the chorus
On behalf of all baritones and basses, thank you.
Baritones are the backbone of society
"Starkid low notes"
My brain, immediately: an sometimes what it wants is twIIIIIiiIiiIIIIiisteeeEEEEEEEeeEeEEED
i love that its essentially a three-way split between corey, jeff, and robert fhdjskhfd
Also, this is just much needed Corey Dorris appreciation 🤩
Fun fact: He is the only Starkid who's name is in a title of a video on my channel.
Me:
* sees title *
...
"FUCK YEAH"
Ooh could you do some female low notes too?
Snarl is freakin underrated
The night belongs to Snarl is such a good song!! Definitely on my top3 from Firebringer
literally got chills rewatching this, miss Brian so fuckin much bro 😭
buuuut im eating for days with Corey in so much of the Hatchetfield stuff ✨✨✨
I submit this video as evidence that Jeff should use his lower register much more.
Yes please!
I think he’s said that it hurts his voice, I’m not sure thiugh
Oh Robert Manion...
How do people not like musicals?
there are just some pauls in the world. watching people sing and dance makes them very uncomfortable
They thought of the implications
Holden's voice always catches me off guard with how low it actually is. I always think that I (an alto) can sing his part in Snarl, and then nope, gotta take it up an octave.
Also, I'm always here for some good James Tolbert appreciation!
Yes! Brolden's lower range is so good. I wish he got to show it off more. And James is great. I hope we see more of him in the future.
I can sing his part in Snarl except for the last note.
And yes, I adore his lower voice, he's actually one of my favorite Starkid singers, especially there - I really hope he gets more to sing in it (or more to sing in general!)
This is a Corey appreciation space
I thank my CZcams recommended for this
I'm so pleased that here, in the Starkid fandom, we appreciate and praise the baritones and basses ! But I MUST ask you to do one for the altos ! They're so underrated !
Our doors are open is one of Corey’s best songs tbh
he only has 3 solos/solos-ish, doesn't he? Big T's Temptation, Pays to Be an Animal, Our Doors are Open. And I guess Grandpa's You Gotta Go. I think Our Doors are Open is probably his best, all the parts of it sound SO GOOD in his voice. He really should be given more to sing, I read that he gets a song somewhere in Nightmare Time season 2, so I'm excited about that.
Jeff's low notes in TTO are priceless, priceless 🎶
i know i'm late to this video, but you left out a crucial one. dylan in kick it up a notch (starship): "you wanna be a starship ranger / or is that a dream that you forgot" the line that singlehandedly made me fall in love with dylan's voice. but even so, i am very much into all the corey dorris appreciation in this video.
ah yes he sounds amazing there!
Robert and Corey's singing oml 😍
Is it bad, that I want to hear Corey's version of Show Stopping number?
After "Doors are Open" I thought about that
honestly THIS is quality gold content
wow I thought it was from a year ago...
Ikr! All of the Starkid videos on my recommended are from a year ago lmao
I too am getting a lot of old videos recommended, but don't worry I'm still here. :)
When even the "low note compilation" includes Joey belting Ab4s in Wagon on Fire...oh Starkid, where everyone's a tenor...
Yeah it's all relative in this case. Not a lot of true baritones or basses. Honestly I feel like they're less common in general in musical theater nowadays compared to golden age musicals that had a lot of baritone leads.
this vid made me realize the absolute range jeff gave himself as father. i'm so used to all that falsetto in the hatchetfield works
Yes! I hope if he comes back for another show he gives himself (or whoever writes the music) a wider range to work with again.
THANK YOU!
I think parts of Made in America should be included - lots of great low notes for Joey. And also parts of Independence, and "I'm gonna listen to my heart", the first one (by which I mean that line, the song is obviously mostly AJ Holmes/Brosenthal.) Although some of the lowest notes in Independence and Made in America aren't full-voiced, but there's still plenty that are, especially in Made in America.
I was so shocked when none of Jim's parts from holy musical batman were included
Part two perhaps? 👀👀👀
You know, I went back to check to make sure I didn't miss anything and Jim only really has brief solo singing parts in Robin Sucks (my least favorite song). The rest of it is all speak-singing so I didn't count it.
I'm a female and I got myself "vocally measured" recently with a website. I think I'm a contralto-alto-mezzo soprano so I'm glad for this compilation. I love Starkid and I want one of their songs to be my audition song someday. currently, I love tgwdlm and I can only do Showstoppin Number hahaha (well I can also do the barista songs since they are short songs). I don't mind playing a female version of Prof. Hidgens (although, I prefer Emma since Paul is my fave character so the affection will be easy to access), the character is too fun.
I didn't know vocal measuring was a thing! I was always an alto when I used to be in choir. A lot of lower register songs for women are older roles but I dont see any problem with a woman professor hidgens. In fact if you've seen the Workin Boys short film it might give you some inspo haha.
everyone loves corey and robert, but can we talk about brian holden??? he's such an amazing singer and gets so little attention! everyone calls corey underrated (which he is) but at least he gets solos. brolden has The Night Belongs to Snarl and Kick It Up a Notch reprise, both of which are amazing, but his solo parts are so small it should be illegal.
also love the tyler brunsman appreciation, even if he was only in the potter musicals.
I stopped everything what I was doing and danced along when the end of SSN came because honestly, HIPS
Yes thank you
HELL YEAH!!!!
As a bassist, thanks
Tbh i could sing most of these
I can sing a bit high aswel but my voice is starting to be like no
Yay for voice cracks
If I sing this all for my choir teacher he may finally put me in the tenor section! (I’m with the Alto 2’s)
Edit: Unfortunately, I cannot compete with Jim.
Haha i'm a little late but good luck (break a leg?) I used to be an alto 2 when I did choir all the way back in middle school.
