    I am barely 10 min in and wow. I have always fought to stay true to myself in a family and world where I felt so different. I feel such a calling in me to live extremely simple and free. A tiny house, by nature with my animals. Just going inward, connecting with my soul and all that is, and sharing that bliss through my passions. I just have never found a way to get from A to B. Society and conforming is like a straight jacket. I am that person in the middle. I feel like a seed that is trying to burst up from the soil and shine my fullest self. I just haven’t been able to fully figure it all out. But I guess that’s the journey. It’s all about becoming. I love becoming.

    Conformism kills the soul. It's a great feeling to be suffering (dare I say, but it is) through the transformation of working through no longer "fitting" into your chosen career after 33 years and move toward authenticity that fuels the soul. Plenty of people and also our own limiting, self-crushing ego want to keep us below the treeline and keep us in our safe (uncomfortable) zone. Don't listen to either one. Flourish in your own thing.

    This is an amazing podcast. The one thing I am noticing here, as well as the beauty and depth of the content you are discussing, is the beautiful attentiveness which Guru Singh is showing towards you. I find that a lot of people who are being interviewed, tend to take over the interview, and steer it in the direction they want to take it in. Guru Singh is just absolutely allowing you to steer this, and he is offering some beautifully reflexive responses. I often hear amazing insights on various podcasts, but on this one I am picking up a beautiful dynamic between the two of you.

    Hey Rich, I am an Occupational Therapist. The idea with the gravity / weighted blanket is that your body craves the sense of PROPRIOCEPTION. This is the sense of how you know where your joints are in space. (If you shut your eyes, you know the exact position of your hands, if they are in the air or resting on your lap, etc.) MANY people crave this sensation and it helps to regulate the nervous system. Yes, people with autism can tend to crave/ need MORE, but it is entirely mainstream. You probably crave it now, unknowingly . Activities that people seek to calm the nervous system / to gain this proprioception are activities that give more pressure to your joints, such as running, jumping, hugging, yoga, doing heavy work, and yes, sleeping with a weighted blanket.
    So, if you feel you are 'out of whack' or perhaps that something is internally amiss, it could be that you crave a good, long run because your body is seeking more proprioception. (In addition to releasing those wonderful endorphins.
    I wish you peace and love. Your diligence and depth of the podcasts are truly beautiful, and I thank you. And I hope you read this since this podcast has been published over 2 years ago.

    Each one of us has the potential to reflect the attributes of God. This is the meaning of man being created in the image of God. “For in him are potentially revealed all the attributes and names of God to a degree that no other created being hath excelled or surpassed.”3 We are able to reflect divine attributes to the extent that we cleanse the mirrors of our hearts and minds through prayer, the study and application of the sacred scriptures, the acquisition of knowledge, efforts to improve our conduct and to overcome tests and difficulties, and service to humanity.
    Among the forces that assist us to cultivate the spiritual qualities latent within us-such as kindness, justice, truthfulness, and trustworthiness-are the love of God, attraction to beauty, and thirst for knowledge. The operation of these and other edifying forces contribute to strengthening our sense of purpose, impelling us both to transform ourselves and to contribute to the transformation of society.

    Bahá’u’lláh has written:

Since We have created you all from one same substance it is incumbent on you to be even as one soul, to walk with the same feet, eat with the same mouth and dwell in the same land, that from your inmost being, by your deeds and actions, the signs of oneness and the essence of detachment may be made manifest. Central to the spiritual life is the development of spiritual qualities that assist each of us in our eternal journey towards God. In this world, the cultivation of such qualities is inseparable from an ongoing refinement of our conduct in which our actions increasingly come to reflect the nobility and integrity with which every human being is endowed. ‘Abdu’l-Bahá states:
    “We must strive unceasingly and without rest to accomplish the development of the spiritual nature in man, and endeavor with tireless energy to advance humanity toward the nobility of its true and intended station.”
    Spiritual qualities develop in a matrix of growing love and knowledge, and in accordance with divine law. As we allow the knowledge of God to increase in our minds and hearts, the qualities of our higher nature begin to flourish. With greater and greater clarity, we discern between that which is conducive to loftiness and that which leads to abasement, and we advance in our understanding of the physical universe, the human being, society, and the life of the spirit. Love grows with knowledge and true understanding is enhanced by love. A false dichotomy between heart and mind is avoided.
    There are many factors that contribute to this development, among them prayer, reflection, willingness to learn, and constant daily effort-particularly in service to humanity. In striving to live a spiritual life, too much focus on oneself can be counterproductive. Bahá’u’lláh writes that we should fix our thoughts on “that which will sanctify…the hearts and souls of men.” “This,” He continues, “can best be achieved through pure and holy deeds, through a virtuous life and a goodly behavior.” ‘Abdu’l-Bahá has written: “How excellent, how honorable is man if he arises to fulfill his responsibilities; how wretched and contemptible, if he shuts his eyes to the welfare of society and wastes his precious life in pursuing his own selfish interests and personal advantages.”
    We may think of our efforts to develop spiritual qualities in terms of walking humbly with our Lord, persevering and learning, free from guilt, accepting the inevitability of error, but never losing sight of what is potentially within us. Although difficulties and setbacks are unavoidable, this is a joyful pursuit, full of happiness.
    Among the greatest dangers in this lifelong process, in this gradual refinement of character, are self-righteousness, superiority and pride-traits which distort the entire spiritual enterprise and undermine its foundation.

    His idea of individuality in agrarian societies is completely wrong. Very frustrating to listen to. Our ability to express our individuality in first world countries is better than it has ever been in any time period. Why do religious people always do this harkening back to simpler times thing? They were far from all entrepreneurs. Has he no idea of history at all? It's so much I can't even say where to begin. As a witch and a woman I'm just so annoyed. You could not deviate from the norm AT ALL. And the consequences were not social ostracism, which itself could mean death, but possibly death. Today we have huge amount of freedom of movement and ability to find like-minded people so there are very few risks to being a unique person living true to themselves compared to in the past.

    • @stefaniew9411
      @stefaniew9411 Před 5 lety +1

      It's true that in the 1st world countries we never had more freedom to express ourselves and yet many people don't do it. I think people are aware of that they have all the possibilities, but they feel trapped, because they are very disconnected from what they are. That's where the frustration and suffering comes from, from our self made restrictions. He doesn't say that people don't have the ability to be themselves, but that they don't dare to. I don't see that he gloryfies the past neither. He hints on the opportunity that lies in a healthy connection and interaction between humans and nature. Since we are a part of it, it's a necessity to become whole by acting as a part of nature and to connected to your inner self at the same time. I didn't understand it as a wish to go back to the old times. On the contrary, it can bring you to the next level. And finally, the better entrepreneur would be a person true to itself. Totally aplicable for modern society people.
