- The latest Mario Golf game, Super Rush is... pretty great.
After all, it has a Ninji as a playable character, so it already gets my approval.
However...
There's just a few lingering things I want to discuss, especially seeing how, as of time of recording, the game has been out for a little while now. It's done it's series of free updates.
Super Rush is a great game. But, I definitely think, with recent franchise comparisons in mind, it's worth taking a critical look at Super Rush, and theorize just where the franchise could go from here.

Alright, Super Rush is another Camelot Mario Sports game for Switch, and in that regard, it does a lot of things very right and feels like the best entry in terms of gameplay mechanics and product direction.
Super Rush has new unique character special shots, battle golf... which is the madness you think it will be, and it's got... some other modes that are mixed in quality.
Target Golf is very entertaining, and made for a fun challenge mode.
One On, One Putt is... aggravatingly challenging to complete, but still it's own fun.
Speed Golf is an upgraded Speed Golf from previous games, with new maps, movements, and attack mechanics.
And it has Golf Adventure. Which... we'll discuss.
If it's as simple for you to buy a full priced game just to play some Mario Golf, you'll enjoy Super Rush for sure.
But let's say you need a bit more convincing. This is where things might get difficult.
Super Rush does have Golf Adventure to play, a single player campaign where you play as a Mii... wonder if this was a Wii U game at one point...? Hmmmmm...
But yeah, it's not just Mario completing the story, it's a Mii, much like the 3DS Mario sports games.
You start at this Golfing academy, get housed with Boo, Charging Chuck, and others, all under the watchful landlord, Birdo, and navigate several environments completing various Golf challenges.

I'm thankful that you didn't overload this video with golf puns. I know that must have been hard on you.
The putting system really breaks me down to tears 😭
saying tennis instead of ggolf
everyone: oh whoops i meant gold
another blow cartridge: *has a mental breakdown*
Even though I'm very prone to accidents in my videos, they never get easy to deal with
great video! completely agree about the asking price feeling way too questionable for what is being offered. it's always a challenging balance, especially because if you want to "vote with your wallet" and tell nintendo you want more sports titles like this, it always feels bad going in at $60 for a mediocre-feeling title in the series
the one thing that always put me off from Super Rush was the random fluctuation when you hit at the highest point in the bar -- no other mario golf game did this, so it feels uniquely un-intuitive fo a famously tight golf game. the feeling of getting everything lined up perfectly, only for the game to randomly decide where you ball is going always felt bad to me
I feel as if that was just another measure of adding more "realistic" gold randomness to the game. But I agree, it was a bizarre choice to add.
And thanks so much for your comment, much appreciated 😊
It's tawlf out there for Mario Golf enthusiasts mang ...
Very tawlf! Very!
Its sad that I can see that this game had potential to be great, specially because of the Golf Adventure, it has the RPG mechanic of allocate points to stats like in Advance Tour, it has open areas to explore and the plot of being the best golfer ever is simple but effective, however they dropped the ball greatly because the game lacked a lot of important things like polish, meaningful dialogue, side challenges, rivals being present during the story, secrets to find, anything to break up the monotony etc.
Plus that Snow King plot that comes out of nowhere, screams that they rushed the game or left incomplete for I don't know why, maybe it was because Camelot struggles making HD games or they got afected by the pandemic, but I see they tried with this one, more than with Mario Tennis Aces, specially about the story mode aspect, but it fell flat in the end, and that hurts. I hope they make the next Mario Tennis and Golf for the Switch 2 be better.
I couldn't agree more. Especially on the Snowman final boss and overall sudden story conclusion. It was definitely feeling super rushed.
And I agree with the lack of side challenges, lack of rivals, secrets, etc. Still a fine game, plenty to like, but also... just lacking, a bit.
I don’t know what’s worse: real golf or virtual golf 😅
Real golf doesn't have Mario characters so... 🤷♂️
Wow!! I played this game too many times.
You can never play golf too many times aha
@@anotherblowncartridge Lol!! I heard Birdie putt!! And I made a hole in one in this game!!
@@AprilTeniente-eu1mj I think I've got a single hole-in-one in my whole playthrough lol
@@anotherblowncartridge Wow. It’s hard to make hole in ones in the New Donk City, and when I said that, I meant 18 of them, but it’s hard when I played this game.
@@AprilTeniente-eu1mj That many holes in one on New Donk City is INSANE
Dang, your videos just cant seem to get traction anymore, eh?
Yeah it's rough
