The Philippines have always gone out of their way to be a genuinely loyal and friendly ally to the United States, and they will continue to do so because it's in their heart to do so. The Philippine people still love America, they always will. America is truly an amazing nation. The problem is this, it is blatantly obvious that the Philippines has been mistreated, exploited and neglected by it's Western allies, so the problem is not with the Philippines, she simply wants to be treated fairly and given the dignity of respect, not disrespected and bullied. As a Filipino, I want US and China be both friends to the Philippines. In case war breaks out, what I do not want is to repeat the history where US mostly fought their wars on non-US soil just like what happened in the Phils during WW2. Japan attacked Manila bcoz of American presence here. Mind you, Manila was the 2nd most devastated city (1st: Warsaw Poland) after WW2.

Imperial Japan did not attack Manila just because of the US presence. The US presence here is just an icing on the cake. I understand that you might not be familiar with military affairs but, I'll tell you that the Philippines is a "crossroad" nation with a very strategic location. Any military commander would be very stupid not to take control of the country in case of a war. I'm telling you that Imperial Japan would still attack the Philippines whether there are US presence there or not and the same thing will happen in the next war in case China attacks. Duterte is doing his best to eradicate drug problems. The Philippines was plagued with drug syndicates, thousands of Kilos of meth circulated the country everyday. But instead of getting support from US and UN, all he got was criticism and threats coming from what he considered allies.
Does anything justify killing so many people without making sure they face the law just as every citizen should have the right to? Furthermore, that approach is stupid because it doesn't take the fight to the roots of the problem. You don't cure a disease by attacking on the symptoms.
