Who is that amazing girl? I am looking for a girlfriend for my son (27) Red long hair and beard loves beer. We live in Barcelona. We've been in Edinburgh this and last year in the 'summer' and love it. But the rain . This year Greece, sorry. But wearing my Kilt these days..
Holy crap! The music, the torches...That's it! I'm going to Edinburgh for Hogmanay!
Seumas Mac Dhaibhidh you should 😊
I have no idea why I got so emotional (in a good way) watching this!! I have distant Scottish heritage, but nothing remotely traceable or close. I just know I need to experience this one day. Amazing, and a happy new year to all.
This year I crossed “play Loch Lomond on my tin whistle on Loch Lomond” off my bucket list🤣
Absolutely stunning! You Scots sure know how to do things right! And the woman you were talking to is beautiful as well!!Love a red head!
I’d love to see this here in the States, but don’t trust a lot of my American brethren with torches right now. A Very Blessed, Happy, Healthy And Fruitful New Year To You And Yours Shaun, Wee Scottish Lass And Her Loved Ones, And To All The Brilliant People Of Scotland!
I said the same thing. Some idiot would have to ruin it by setting someone else on fire
Happily Single: Or a building or business...Or a house and/or neighborhood ...Or themselves and yes others.
@@WickedKingLycoan We are an heathen country
Pure magic! Mosco was quite brilliant too with the fire torch Saltier. thank you Shaun for bringing Scotland and its amazing traditions to us cheers happy Hogmany
Clanadonia! My friends at work think I'm a little off for playing their music at my desk. Or maybe it's the fact that you can't sit still while listening to it. Thanks for taking us with you to the party. Maybe I'll get to see it in person some day. Happy New Year!
I’ve never wanted to come to Scotland more than I wanted to after watching this video. 🏴
My husband went, when he was there for business, several years ago. He was invited by Scottish friends to come First Steppin, he carried his gift of single malt. He called the next morning, and was still drunk. He loved every minute of it.
It seems like all the city inhabitants gather for one giant celebration to welcome the new year.
I can’t help but think this event encourages the whole city to look forward to the future.
Just watching this, I can feel a great sense of connection and hope for the future.
And the torches! Wow!
❤️❤️❤️ I wish we could have Hogmanay in Montana. I'm so glad you showed us what Hogmanay is about. Thank you❣❤️❤️❤️
Awesome stuff
Happy new year from the scots in the states. 👍🏴🇺🇸
Ohhh Ye'll take the high road and I'll take the low road and I'll be in Scotland afore ye, fer me and my true love will ne'er meet again, on the bonny, bonny, banks, of Loch Lomond! Loved it! We had a songbook mixed in with our encyclopedias, and as a kid, my favorite one was "Loch Lomond." In 7th and 8th grade we had a great music teacher. We sang songs from around the world and was so happy to be able to sing this song with my classmates. I've sang it throughout my life-time to entertain friends and family. I'm not a singer. I use to tell my relatives to spread my ashes o'er Loch Lomond:) Nobody can afford to do that so I'll just sit on their mantle and haunt them. lol My great Uncle bought me a toy bagpipe when I was young. I've always loved the bagpipes and the drums of Scotland. "Happy Hogmanay and a Happy New Year 2020!" xox U.S.A.
Wow, amazing seeing all those torches! Awesome fun! So glad you are home! Happy Hogmanay! 🍻🎉🎊🏴
Happy New Year From This Wild eyed Crazy Texan in my hole in the road in East Texas, Going to this Hogmanay is on my bucket list
Happy Hogmanay! Thanks for showing this, not just tonight's party.
Thank you Shaun for sharing this piece of your people’s culture.
That looked so fun! Nothing gets me jazzed like drums do.. and I believe those are the gents I just discovered recently. I may just have to visit Scotland for Hogmanay next year.
Happy Hogmany Scotland!! Love you Alba!!!💙💙💙💙🏴🏴🏴🏴🎶🎶🎶🥁🥁🥁🎉🎉🎉✨✨
Shaun. Happy New Year. I wish I could be there!
My Grandparents families came to America in the times of Culloden. Some a tad earlier. My Scottish family names are MacGregor, MacKey or MacKay, and Kennedy. I was told my grandfather’s family were from the highlands and my grandmother’s family were lowlanders (her term). Closer to the border?
But I did grow up with all of the stories. Stories carried down from when they were still in Scotland, and then amazing stories about their new life in America. My aunt tracked down all of the genealogy paperwork, but it was my grandfather’s and grandmother’s stories that were later proven true that meant the most too me. Amazing stories that her voice would use the Scottish words and accent in retelling these stories.
In today’s Scotland you may not realize how much we did not want to leave Scotland. But we’ve always kept you in our hearts and hoped to come home again some day.
Hey, maybe Scotland would consider a reverse emigration? Hmmm? I have hi-tech skills. Compilers, computer languages, UNIX operating systems, human linguistics.... but they really should allow us to come back to Scotland after being shoved out over 309 years ago.
Happy Hogmanay!
I bought a clanadonia CD and played it at my wedding in 2013 in Gibraltar and the people there loved it. Anyway Happy New Year to you all. All the best for 2020..🏴 🏴 🏴
Bucket list for sure! Happy New Year, all!
I've finally figured it out. I couldn't put my finger on why Shaun seems so familiar to me, but I finally realized: the sparkly eyes, the cheeks, the big smile... he's exactly how I always pictured Tom Bombadil in my mind! One day I'm going to have to send you big yellow boots, Shaun!!
This Is AMAZING!! I love your traditions. So different than the USA! Happy New Year, Shaun!
That was brilliant!! Thanks for sharing that. Makes me so homesick. 💔
What an incredible experience! I was there with my family for the torch parade and the Street Party as well. Mind blowing and so much fun. If you can do it, go! The people are some of the friendliest I have met anywhere in the world, and even though the number of people there is HUGE, I never once felt unsafe or crowded. Nothing but positive good times all the way around. Cheers!
I love scotland,i love you scottish people...greetings from germany♥️
Really enjoyed this video especially the bagpipes and drums! Thanks for sharing this very interesting tradition with those of us that can’t be there. Happy New Year!

A joyous evening! Fun tagging along👍
Wow, what fun! Seeing the torch procession was amazing!! When you were making the formation I could could have sworn I heard Johnnie Cash's "Ring of Fire" tune in the background. Happy New Year!!
Yep, it was there. Shaun was even singing it for just a second before that
I clearly heard it in the background. The man in black himself, Johnny Cash.
Laura Ellen yes you did here it :)
Caledonia is on episode 1 season 1 of Outlander! Its the scene where Claire runs after getting shot at by the red coats! 💕 I love them! *🎉HAPPY HOGMANAY! HAPPY NEW YEAR🎉*!!!!!
Wow yes great spot - you are correct. I remember that now and the song
Had my DNA analyzed this year and found out I'm 63% English, Scottish and Welsh. I'm claiming that Scottish ancestry!!!! (Pretty sure it comes from one of my ancestors who's surname was McFadden). So I really enjoyed this video! Would love to visit Scotland, but my health won't allow it, so I do it vicariously through you Shaun! Thank you!
Its now officially on my bucket list to celebrate New Years in Scotland....looks amazing!
Brilliant Shaun! Is it weird I almost got a bit emotional watching the drums and seeing all the torches? and of course Clanadonia was there! Awesome! What a great country Scotland is. Wish I was there now but at least I have some Williams Bros. Scottish craft beer to try and enjoy tonight for New Years. Happy Hogmanay and to a Happy New Year. Slainte Mhath!!
drew thank you drew happy new year to you
Thank you, Shaun; you guys really know how to party! When I saw the torches and heard the bagpipes and drumming, my heart leapt with soulful excitement. I believe that I was Scottish in a distant past life experience---this coming from a black woman in the united states.
Looks like an amazing time!!!
Happy Hogmanay! Awesome with all the torches. But it kind of reminded me of the villagers going after Frankenstein's monster. LOL
SO SUPER COOL SHAUN. I WISH WE DID SOMETHING LIKE THIS IN THE STATES. IT KINDA MADE ME SHED A TEAR WHEN I SEEN WHAT THE TORCHES MADE. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND ALL THOSE YOU LOVE. 🎆🎇🎆🎇 PS. THE HECK W. TIMES SQUARE.. THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE.
Such a life affirming event, that just puts a smile on your face and joy in your heart!
You & Wee Scottish Lass are always a hoot! 🤣
I was taught Loch Lomond, as a kid by my great-grandfather, do you sing it during the Torch Walk or was that something you guys just did?
I'm so sad that I'll miss Hogmany this year... All the best for you guys!
Happy Hogmanay from the Texas Hill Country!
Wow! This is amazing! Thank you for bringing us along!
Holly Rhea thanks for watching 😊
Awesome fun. 🥳
Shreddin' on the bagpipes. Awesome. Thanks for sharing, Shaun.
What an amazing spectacle!! So fun to watch. Those drummers were wonderful. Drums go right to your soul, don’t they? Thanks for sharing Shaun 🎉
Happy Hogmanay Shaun and everyone, from Central Coast California.
I remember a Torch Festival in Shetland - Up Helly Aa. Don't think it was about New Year, but it had torches, so that's all that matters!! But... then they chucked them all at a boat floating in the water....
The Shetland Islanders see themselves more as Norse than Scottish, but no matter what, this is superb. czcams.com/video/GaAa2ZML8Fc/video.html
Happy New Year Shaun to you and your family......To The Wee Lass also :)

Its always so cool to see how things are celebrated all over the world. Being a Yank, as you would say, the differences from city to city and state to state here in the US is just as unique. But I loved my experience in Germany seeing the different seasons and holidays celebrated. Happy New Year to you, your family and #weescotishlas.
Thank you for sharing such an amazing experience. Happy Hogmanay and I hope you have a wonderful 2020.
