    Hello Friends,
I am Arrunimaa welcome to our youtube channel "Kapture Unseen Moments"
    Description :-
Conquer the enemies on the battlefield, not only the heroic but the one who impresses his opponent with his noise is also called a heroic. Know the journey of such a heroic saga with me and the war memorial built in his memory, the battle of Khalanga/the battle of Nalapaani.
There is a saying if a man says he is not afraid of dying he is either lying or he is a Gurkha The same saying came true by Balbhadra Thapa in a battle with the British in 1814. So stay with me till the end of the video and know what happened that Gurkha was included in the Indian British Army after that incident.
We are going to take you to the war memorial built in Khalanga Nalapani in memory of this war which reminds us today of this wonderful saga, and we will also visit you through interesting paths and many other places nearby.
It is a matter of 1814 when this part of Dehradun Nalapani used to come under the rule of Nepal, then the then Governor-General was Lord Hastings. He was governor-general in India from 1813 to 1823. He declared war on Nepal on 1 November 1814. Major General Robert Rollo Gillespie entered the British 3rd Infantry Division in Dehradun. Gillespie was an expert war scholar of the British Army known as the hero of java and received many honors from the British Government. Were received. Even before Gillespie, the British had made an attack on this fort and had lost.
Gillespie commanded this time with 3500 soldiers with heavy artillery, who were tasked to capture the Khaling or called Nalapani fort. While Balbhadra Kunwar had only 600 Gurkha soldiers, including women and children. Between the bullets of the British Army's heavy cannon and the bullets, the Nepalese army kept fighting with khukri, stones and very little ammunition, and Gillespie was killed in the battle.
At the time of Gillespie's death, General Maubi commanded the attack on Khalanga and he cut off the sources of water supply in the fort. As a result, many people died inside the fort in want of water. The survivors, who were about 70 in number, fled to the jungles with brave Balbhadra and never again came to the hands of the British.
After three such attacks and war by the British, this war finally ended on 30 November 1814, after which the Khalanga Fort was found in the dust. Fighting for 39 days, the Nepalese troops left but did not surrender to the British troops. This War Memorial, which tells the saga of valor of Gurkha soldiers, stands gracefully on this hill today.
This thrilling trek is a favorite for Bike riders/Bicycle /Car drive. While passing through here, this year's dense forest is a witness to that historic war. And you must have always seen flags which are arranged in a specific order, which symbolize the sky, wind, fire, water, and earth by color. These indicate a type of equilibrium.
In this journey, you get a monastery and a shiv temple. In memory of this war, twin towers have been built on Sahastradhara road. Even though the British won the battle, they have recognized the valor of the Gurkhas by making this memorial. Perhaps this is one such example of history where one army has defeated another and built a memorial in their valor. Balbhadra Thapa fought many battles after this war. During the Sikh-Afghan War in 1879, the Nepalese fought valiantly in the Sikh Army, and in this battle, Balbhadra Kunwar received Veeragati in the Nowshera area of the Peshawar region.
    Thank You !
