I found one of those manual pumps at a thrift store for 50 cents. I discovered that it works really well with the foodsaver canning jar lid sealer attachments! Since I store a lot of dry goods in quart mason jars, it's good to know that I can reseal them even when the power is out.
Thats cool... we go to the river a lot. This would be good to keep our stuff nice and dry wit little space lost...
That was the coolest video! As soon as I saw the ZipLock bag with the circle pump are I was wondering how that would work with the FoodSaver pump. Sure enough you did a test using both bags and pumps. Well done! You guys do a great job and I am a huge fan. Keep up the good work.
That's awesome I bought a motorized one from Wal-Mart I really like it but if I was with out electric that one would be ideal. Th for the demo.
I saw these at my local market. Watched this to see if it was worth buying, I'm picking it up tomorrow.
thanks for tips, do they make them for freezer bags? for ziploc
I bought the battery powered version of that ziploc pump when they first came out. Stopped using it because the bags never held the vacuum for more then 30 minutes or so. I would vacuum pack something and by morning there was more air in the bag then if I had just used regular ziploc bags and squeezed it all out.
Had to comment on this. This is awesomeness
@USNERDOC is that only over the vac hole or do they also leak at the zipper?
@Mrcaffinebean - Heavy packing tape with one end folded over for a removal flap works great on these bags as they do slowly leak over time.
Great video!
Did you get to try the manual pump on those vaccum travel bags like you said? Do they work??
We had one last year and it's good for temporary, but they lost their seal over a month. I even duct taped the seal shut, but it still lost it's seal.
Its nice that you just match the circle and "plunger" haven't seen these before.
But the more independent from the grid the better IMHO
I've been using my mouth and a straw since I was a kid. Even cheaper, of course its not as good but its good enough for my needs.
I don't mind ads
I don't mind buffering
But when ads buffer,
I suffer
Affirmative pain
I had two of the rechargeable ones...I find I go to my manual Ziploc pump more often since the foodsaver ones don't keep a charge and I always had to keep them plugged in. for freezing I find the Ziploc bags last longer - the little square tab doesn't pop off! But yes, the Ziploc pump will work on the Foodsaver bags - you just have to pump until its too hard to do so!

I went to another location tonoght and bought a few more.. I agree, I don't think this is a limited time closeout... I think they might just be this cheap all the time
Like to see it work on the travel bags!
it's a good thing you got that battery vacuum pump out of that bag so quickly, otherwise the universe would have imploded.
BigLots is probably the best deal store IMO
They carry these Ziploc bags at Wal Mart and they also have quart size as well as gallon size bags.
@USNERDOC
Yea, these are a great supliment to the Food Savers
We missed you on the Echolink tonight, not sure if you heard the good news .. they changed it to hold up to 8 EL users at a time. We had six for a while tonight
this thing looks kool im going to check it out thanks for the link to amazon
awesome thanks

We have a Big Lots here in VA so I guess everyone has a Big Lots this seems interesting because I bet it's much lighter than the Food Saver one. Could be good for backpacking for sure. I heard the seal don't last long on the bag though. I think a CZcamsr taped over the seal with packing tape. If I find the vid I'll PM you the video link.
Last night I took some regular ziploc freezer bags and was making little trauma/first aid kits out of them. But squeezing all the air out of them didn't work all that well. So I zipped them 98% closed, and then stuck a heavy straw in them and sucked the rest of the air out. It worked pretty good. The problem was that the bags only held that seal for about an hour or so..
I'll definitely have to check something like this out..
Vacuum fission. Funny. You could have sent us into WROL right then!
@Mrcaffinebean - I think these have great utility and would be great stashed out and about for packaging and repackaging gear & supplies. For sure one in each vehicle. ;-) This was right up my ally . . . couldn't resist!
@lostburro I use the ziplock pump on both the ziplock bags and the foodsaver bags. The ziplock will lose its vacuum within a day, and the foodsaver will hold the vacuum for a longer time. I think its that valve on the ziplock bags that sucks!!!
@Mrcaffinebean That's the problem I have. Sitting in my freezer, the bags lose their vacuum in under a month. In a bag where they move around, within a day or two, in my experience.
Cool.
@astrialkil hmmm about 5 weeks ago they are still there for $3
@GearBuyersGuide - I missed you guys as well. I had a long (2 1/2 hour) Skype conference call just prior to the net QSO. When tried to log on to the repeater, I got a message saying "access path not allowed" . . . not sure what that means. There were only 4 online at the time. I will try again next week. Keep up the good work!
@evilbunnyreviews how long a go?
@USNERDOC You're the man Doc. I think I'm going to go raid my local Big Lots for these.
Ziploc bags are made in the USA, Ilinois. They are available from Walmart stores.
@notreallydaedalus Try taping over them with packing tape before they go in. Beast12101 says that keeps them sealed.
@Slash28ACR
maybe for you.. but this is a great gadget IMO
Works well for saving room in medical kits n packs but I would definitely not use this for food storage. I tried it packing dried beans and within 30 to 48 hrs or so they had completely lost vacuum just laying on the counter that I vacuumed it on. For something as vital and easily spoiled as food I think it's better to stick to vacuum then heat sealing. It's worth 3 dollars though even if you just use the bags for storage n put the pump in a snake bite kit.to replace the rubber suction thing lol
I'll use it for a ounce of weed lmao
Remember the "pump and seal"? all they have done is put the "tab check" into the side of the bag.
You could put a oxygen absorber in each bag and that should suck up the leaking oxygen!
Aapka paines Pam ktna amoudka ha
VACUUM FISSION FTW!
stil watching on 2020
crazy huh?
@Mrcaffinebean
Great idea, we'll try that..
I have seen USNERDOC use these, but then seals them with his larger sealer to make a smaller bag too
Well done! Great video! Ziploc Vacuum Pump (Price & Value)
thank you
Publix carries them =o)
they let air in.... i used them.
Haha you went nuts vacuum sealing stuff, none of it food. You even vacuum sealed a vacuum sealer, hilarious.

Ziploc Vacuum Pump vs Food Saver Vacuum Seal Bags - Which Pump Seals Foods With a Vacuum better?
These bags are a waste of time. They aren't thick enough and they leak after a short while in the freezer. The material isn't thick enough so the food makes microscopic holes in the bag, allowing air in.
The bags suck!! They lose the vacuum very fast. The food saver bags are much better. Taping the seals will not work. I used duck tape, and it did not work.
i want butt i am leave in abu dahby
How long do these lasts cuz I just picked up bunch at goodwill for 50cents 🤣 I’m just here for research !
Its nice that you just match the circle and "plunger" haven't seen these before.
