- #ItsKiwiSafety is here! Our homegrown Safety Video It’s Kiwi Safety is the largest scale safety video we have ever produced, with a 600-strong cast. The video stars well-known Kiwi actor Julian Dennison (Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Deadpool2), local musicians Kings, Theia and Randa as well as talent from 30 community groups across the country.
The safety video was filmed at various New Zealand locations in Auckland, Wellington, Dunedin, Balclutha, Hokitika and Naseby in Central Otago. It also features a number of Air New Zealanders including cabin crew, pilots, engineers, loaders and airline staff from Dunedin Airport. Enjoy!

Watched this on a recent flight from LAX to Auckland , Pretty sure everyone on the plane was also cringing. I was embarrassed to be from NZ with this .

I’m 52, and thought it was rather entertaining.
I’m also American and didn’t need to listen to the lyrics to understand the safety rules. I understood them just by watching and from previous flying experience.

I feel like our safety videos are more focussed on being “cool and creative” than safety itself. If I was travelling on a plane for the first time and I was unfamiliar with safety procedures I don’t think I would be able to pick up on anything in this video, it’s too fast and hard to pin point the parts that are actually important
There is a safety card in your seat pocket which you are asked to read.

I think people take this waaay too seriously. I think Air NZ has done a great job making fun videos for all to enjoy. If you enjoy watching perfect looking people reading a script in a dead tone go fly some other airline. At least Air NZ was bold and creative enough to make these videos. They also have historically been a well-respected airline with several awards.

Oh my God. This is absolutely horrendous! The safety message is completely lost. Very hard to follow. So much cringe. How on earth can this be approved by CAA NZ?! I feel sorry for the crew that need to endure this up to 6 times a day, let alone once. That's 4 minutes and 37 seconds of my life I'll never get back.

I love this a lot and was very surprised with the backlash here. I thought it was funny and way less boring than listening to the flight attendant. I guess some people will be offended at anything and that is their prerogative. For me, it was a great investment of 4.37 minutes ;) Proud to be a Kiwi

It's actually CAA regulations that you comply with the instructions of the crew. You only need to put up with it for the odd flight...think of the crew who have to listen to it up to 6 times PER day!

As an ex flight attendant who had safety drilled into me this is so terrible. I can't make out the safety aspects well. Air NZ treat safety videos as a popularity contest and have been taking away from the safety message for years.
And all those pax complaining about having to listen to it you get no sympathy from me. Think of the crew who have to listen to it up to 6 time each day!!
We should all have sympathy for each other. The flight attendants are stony faced when it plays. I look into my phone as a protest. I am hoping someone surveys cabin crew to ask if people are watching

you guys don't know what commercial is. It's not an usuall safety video. While everybody touching their phone during cabin crew instructions and maybe you check only once a safety video. This has a story and a really cool and modern music. Visually shocking in a right way and I a bet with this if you hate still will remember more things from this video then the boring instructions on board.
I am pretty sure will watch this video over and over again because the music and the visuality. And!!! It's teaches me this way because I watch and watch it again.

I thought the richard simmons safety belt advert was bad. 4mins37 of making New Zealand look like we are living in the US and even more hellish is using 2 classic artists Run DMC and Sisters Underground and converting it into some Mangere sewerage. As a videographer, content needs to be creative and original, and I see so many businesses and organizations waste thousands of dollars on some camera/editing companies that shoot out of technicalities worrying about pay packets. I am not saying my shoots are amazing but seriously.... be careful who you choose to shoot for you, always check their work first. I want to throw myself off the sky tower and never live again....
