Sadly that's the last you'll see of Kryten until season 3, when he's played by Robert Llewellyn. Robert nails that role to a tee - His version of Kryten from season 3 onwards is one of the funniest characters.
The one where he throws a “period party” had me in stitches ha ha ha
I love all of Red Dwarf but season 3 is where it starts to really take shape.
I dunno...as I get older I love the first quite a lot. More like stage plays and the writing is brilliant. I don't care about a pantomime monster each week.
we've all been telling him for months to stick with it for Season 2 😞 ... but you are right, juicy episodes are coming 😋
Series 2 is better than 3. Better Than Life is one of the best episodes ever.
@@Almost_Famous_Ryan that episode comes up next!
@@RolanTheBrave I know.
While I agree that Robert Llewellyn's Kryten is the best, I think this guy did a great job.
He also did the voice of Talkie Toaster and was in The Green Green Grass
@@bloodmoon0205 David Ross I think? He is brilliant, his Kryten is very different to Robert Llewellyn's, I love both.
Season's 3 to 6 are probably the ones I've watched the most over the years.
That seems like those are everyone's favorite seasons =]
Yeah, they are the best seasons. Although one of my personal favourite episodes is in this season - queeg.
That Android drama at the beginning was a piss take of an Australian soap called neighbours, very popular in the uk in the 80s and 90s, just thought id let you know josh 👍
Oh ok lol I have never heard of that show.
"everybody needs good neighbours ... with a little understanding"
@@AfterWorkReactions dont worry you aint missing much josh 😂😂
@@AfterWorkReactions you deffo don’t wanna react to it, but a quick look up of the theme tune and you’ll get what they were going for
@@AfterWorkReactions Kylie Minogue you know right? the name at least ... right? she was in it
My most favourite show off all time! Boys from the Dwarf! 👌🏻👏🏻🙌🏻
It is a great show.
That was the first actor to play Kryten, the next one (Robert Llewellyn) is much better and played the character from the start of series III until now
Yeah Robert Llewellyn was awesome as Kryten, Josh has watched Bottom with him in an episode wonder if he'll notice
he knows ,he is on series 7
Thanks bud!
That Kryten actor came back though , as talkie toaster lol
Most of the bit parts and vending machines are done by Tony Hawks (not that one) so I suppose I just assumed he did Talkie as well.
YES !!! I am SO HAPPY you're reaction to more Red Dwarf, and I could happily watch you react to every episode. :-))
Excellent Josh! Red dwarf and spaced are my favourite tv shows by far.👍
Spaced! I'd forgotten about that 👍👍
@@IanDarley I think there is only one person on CZcams who has reacted to it. It surprises me because that show is mega. I'm sure josh would get a kick out of it, especially with all the comic book and film references.
@@TheRetroManRandySavage Absolutely and we know he loves Shaun Pegg and Nick Frost.
Thanks bud I do love Red Dwarf and hope to check out Spaced soon!
This show peaked at seasons 4, 5 and 6 in my opinion.
Excellent
3, 4 and 8 are my tops.
Agreed, golden upto and including series 6. Downhill after that.
Mostly everyone says those are the best seasons =]
Always loved this programme
Season 2 is underrated in my opinion.
Queeg is one of my favourite moments in the show. Closely followed by the Flinstones scene.
Better Than Life and Thanks For the Memory are great episodes too.
They're wrong anyway. Betty is way hotter than Wilma.
It's the best series IMO
Jesus christ I don't think I've ever seen OG Kryten before.
Waiting for Dwayne Dibbley.
Series 2 has some of my favourite episodes in it!! Lol
Kryton was the game changer in the whole series.
Robert Llewelyn is a real card and a much better Kryten. I’m now also a fan of his YT Channel “Fully Charged”, which he presents brilliantly.
S1 & 2 are great for character development. Fun fact: Chris Barrie is an impressionist and can do the voices of all the other actors and read the audio books of the series.
You'll notice the producer of Androids is surname is Gwenlyn (also the similar sounding insult) - references to the producer of Only Fools & Horses (& Welsh comedy High Hopes) Gareth Gwenlan, who turned Red Dwarf down for the BBC in London as something that would never work.
In the first series rob grant and doug naylor had to fight for any physical input. In the exam episode they had to push for the coloured binders in the back ground.
It was something stupid like they could only change one thing per episode.
In the later series you can can tell the difference when they had control.
Some of the concepts in this series are amazing, really well thought out and executed perfectly in a brilliant comedic style. Season 2 is great but it's season 3 where things kick off and get taken up a notch or 2
Bollocks.
@@Almost_Famous_Ryan Lol
agreed - this was much more in line with the comedy of the time like the young ones
Honestly season 1 and 2 are good, but season 3-6 are the best
6 beats all of the others. 1 & 2 are next. 4 & 5 aren't as good.
When it comes to humanity evolving, you have to take into consideration that we have moved beyond the need of evolving since we don't have to adapt to our environment anymore, but can now adapt the environment to fit our needs.
But a more important point: It's just a show!
The thing with people complaining about season 1 is that it's mainly people who came to Red Dwarf late that do that - Season 1 was actually really good compared to most comedies at the time but yes Red Dwarf did go from strength to strength with each season getting progressively stronger up to season 5 {it dropped off a bit for season 6 and 7}.
It's not like Red Dwarf season 1 was another Blackadder where the first season was an utter flop and the show had to change completely for season 2.
Red Dwarf just had an upward curve with seasons 4 and 5 being the pinnacle of the show.
The DVD commentary pointed out Lister isn't that smart either, (Due to an alteration of prop,) he's polishing a handlebar that clearly won't shine.
LOL
The Tongue Tied video is on the list surely?
Any episode with Duane Dibbley is great imho.
If humans have the ability to go into status for several millions years, expect them to popp up everywhere, everytime
You don't see Kryten again until season 3 and it's the proper one. This guy was just a trial run....He's actually the voice of talkie toaster
He wasn’t a trial run, they actor wasn’t available so they had to recast. Just turned out the recast was amazing!
@@Live-by2vk He was a trial run to see how Kryten turned out, not the actor the character. But luckily he was rubbish as Kryten and we ended up with Rob
@@finregan9322 apologies the words ‘this guy’ insinuated the actor to me, not the character, especially since you added the info about talkie toaster.
I completely disagree that he was rubbish as well, had he of been available, I think he would of made a great kryten ongoing, but we will never know and what we got was fab
Thanks pal.. I know you do alot of Irish and UK reactions.
If you could do some Ed Bassmaster reactions I know you'd love it.
If you do you could start with mumbles in the hood or any of his skits.
Love from Ireland
What muppets were not happy with season 1 ??
Loved season 1 .. wait till you get to Season 7 onwards then that’s when Red Dwarf starts sliding down the smeg pole
Red Dwarf is awesome, but early Kryten still freaks me out. lol
I think I started watching it more from the middle of series 2 as an 80s kid.
It definitely gets better and much funnier with each season. But, the last few didn't quite capture the old vibe for me.
Season 5 is a great one to watch, starting with Holoship
Love you Cuz you will be seeing us soon
I really don’t get why people have even suggested starting at 3 tbh. Yes some of the proper classic episodes are after that point but one massive thing isn’t, which I’m not going to say (no spoilers) but it isn’t!
What breed of dog do they use for dog milk ?
Season 5 and 6 is by far superior to all others
Season 4 is pretty awesome.
White Hole and Dimension Jump are top tier
@@jspettifer yes thats where red dwarf really started to take off
6 is wonderful. 5 isn't.
@@Almost_Famous_Ryan sorry your wrong back to reality was brilliant inquisitor was great even demons and angels season 5 was one of the best
@@acerrimmer9066 5 isn't even close to 6. Psirens, Legion and Emohawk: Polymorph II are much better episodes. Gunmen of the Apocalypse is probably the best episode ever and won an International Emmy for Popular Arts in '94.
I prefer the original Kryten.
Sorry mate. Just Americans just don;t get English Humor!
i think the new kryton worked because the americanised silly voice broke up the seriousness
