    - DLSS 3.5 adds Ray Reconstruction RTX 20, 30 & 40 as the most outstanding new feature.
    - Ray Reconstruction acts as a denoiser, improving global illumination and increasing the resolution of reflections and shadows.
    - Cyberpunk 2077 with RT Overdrive is one of the first games to take advantage of this new feature. The differences are significant especially in dark areas and high detail reflections.
    - Ray Reconstruction also applies a performance boost to games using RT. In the case of Cyberpunk 2077, I have detected areas with an improvement of between 3 and 8fps.
    - In the second part of the video, you can see a comparison of Ray Reconstruction ON/OFF in the Ramen Shop demo, created in Unreal Engine 5. In this demo, the use of Ray Reconstruction improves performance by almost 10fps.

That denoiser is a BIG improvement. I've always been fan of the DLSS technology but I recognized it had some important flaws to consider whenever you choose to turn on or off, and the noise was one of the biggest. So seeing it being so "miraculously" taken care of and even on top of it, actually giving a bit more performance, brings my jaw to the floor and happiness to the ceiling. as long as there are textures there will always be rasterization. for full path traced games without rasterisation you would need all materials to be geometrically modeled to the atomic scale and have all physical properties defined (wavelenght absorbtions, refraction, difraction...) to be able to have a color. (since color is not a property of a material at all, and textures are used for that in rasterisation. To achieve a proper image with that you would need thousand times more rays and tens of ray bounces. We wont see that in a hunded years if something better than transistors is not invented, since those are approaching the limit of Moore's law.

@@marsovac Wrong. Textures has nothing to do with it and you can sample them using rays instead of during rasterization. You don't "model" atoms just follow PBR principles and make a surface "rough" or "smooth" depending on material. Same as you don't need to account for general relativity... If you can fool human eye that's good enough. Although cyberpunk does rasterization pass for albedo, there are many other examples where you don't need it. Restir already achieves almost noise free image under 10ms even without AI.

I'm NOT a fan of raytracing personally due to the pre DLSS 3.5...it actually making many things look worse due to the static it added to the image which was unacceptable to me if I'm going to be taking a big performance hit.
But...I mean those reflections and shadows look absolutely beautiful and with improvements to frame-gen and of course looking forward to 5000 series cards...yes Nvidia are money hungry douchebags selling cards at 2x their actual price, but the tech is hard to say no to. In reality, everything is in motion. Whether it be in the real world of when playing a game. You're constantly moving. And when moving, there is a "blur" effect. When the shadows of a tree move because of the wind, you can see the blurry outline of the shadows on the ground. They shouldn't be super well defined, that's not how nature works. By that very basic description, I can accept that some aspects of video games should/could be not well defined as well. Which means, that adding more and more fine-grained details like ray reconstruction doesn't really add to my experience actually. It acts against the nature of the real world. @@squirrelsinjacket1804 they definitely should push for path tracing with RTX 50 series. They need some killer game and it's over.
Imagine GTA6 implemented path tracing and DLSS3.5, it would possibly boost Nvidia into the stratosphere. Nobody would want to miss that.
I'm not saying they'd be able to get GTA6 to have that, I'm saying they need something like it.
Cyberpunk 2077 is pretty high up there but it's not THAT. Nvidia needs to hunt down a whale with a sponsorship.
Anyway, RTX4060 IMPRESSIVELY performs at 1920x1080 with DLSS3.5 and path tracing. It can do it and that's more than you'd expect from a xx60 card. I think RTX50 will finally have xx60 card that will bring path tracing to the masses (with the caveat of limited resolution, of course). 4060 is already almost there
