Oculus Official Trailer #1 (2014) - Karen Gillan Horror Movie HD
Ten years ago, tragedy struck the Russell family, leaving the lives of teenage siblings Tim and Kaylie forever changed when Tim was convicted of the brutal murder of their parents. Now in his 20s, Tim is newly released from protective custody and only wants to move on with his life; but Kaylie, still haunted by that fateful night, is convinced her parents' deaths were caused by something else altogether: a malevolent supernatural force unleashed through the Lasser Glass, an antique mirror in their childhood home. Determined to prove Tim's innocence, Kaylie tracks down the mirror, only to learn similar deaths have befallen previous owners over the past century. With the mysterious entity now back in their hands, Tim and Kaylie soon find their hold on reality shattered by terrifying hallucinations, and realize, too late, that their childhood nightmare is beginning again...

I broke all mirrors of my house after watching this movie ... the impact of this movie on me was immense. ..and the impact of my mother on me after breaking the mirror was more than the previous one.
I'M DYING 🤣 underrated comment
too funny
Don't watch Mirrors then
😂😂😂
I'm wheezing, lmfao😂😂😂😂😂😂
This movie fucks with your head. That's why it is pretty good. I love a psychological horror movie, rather than those that only have gore and brainless scares.
Well said =)
I know right!! I love this movie but cause it made me think to much =')
Katee Sackhoff said that she got tested for HIV numerous times. Does that mean she had a lot of sex
i wanna know about her sex life have she ever talk about her sex life
wow your riht this movie fucks with everybody head, whoever watches this feels that you are is inside the movie,
True, but I felt that this mov u relied quite heavily on fire as well ( light bulb scene, father cutting his fingers). It does mess with your head, but I don't feel like it was as dreading as they wanted it to be. While watching, I was unsure of what was illusion and what was reality, but I did not feel the sense of dread that I should have
This movie was like an acid trip. It starts out slow but by the end you're not sure what's real anymore.
Fabian Joel exactly. I felt like i was on drugs when I watched it.
Exactly
It's better than an acid trip cause there's no risk of going down a bad trip
Just like life.
I watched it on dob acid which is a potent research chemical not even out when this movie came out just like ring two on shrooms horror and psychodelics go together forget felling like your tripping take the actual trip you wussys
this movie so messed with my mind that even, when credits started rolled, I questioned myself If that was reality or not.

Right . Its also freaking me crazy .even the last part of this film when her brother accidently killed him that time i also questioning myself that is real then i understand it is real actualy she is dead . The end was quite disappointing. I accept more

This movie is all hallucinations
I thought this movie was pretty good. Most of the comments that say the movie sucked because it was confusing don't understand the whole concept of the movie. You're supposed to be confused because the mirror is making the characters feel that way. If you can't understand what's going on then imagine how the characters felt! The horror factor is not knowing if what you see is an illusion or if it's real.
Truth.
exectly.
Yeah I thought it was pretty good too. The little brother got so screwed at the end.
I cried so much when Kaylie killed Michael that was so sad how she picked up the camera, looked at him, and then just dropped it and Tim said they had to get out. Not to mention the ending.
I didn't see the movie yet but my friend as and she said exactly the same and now I'm so curious to watch
Moral of the story, don't eat an apple next to a haunted ass mirror.
yeah
and never ever buy a used item
XD
Lmao
And i was having a good dinner be4 i burst out laughing
realy
Well I guess I'm never eating apples or touching mirrors again lol
Courtney Sparks The Doctor said Apples are rubbish
Just dont keep your apples and light bulbs on the same counter.
I have just eaten recently
😂😂😂
I love how the movie cuts from present to past. And eventually it becomes the thoughts of the past which then evolves into the present. Brilliantly executed.
this is probably one of the most amazing horror movies of all time
I agree, so original
Absolutely i watched it twice
Cool I think I can watch this one
After “IT”
No never
The ending frustrates me sooo much. It hurts me inside when Tim got dragged into the cop car. But again when do you get to see an ending where the ghosts win? This is such a great movie.
same
Same. My favorite horror movie.
The Woman in Black would be another example :)

It's pretty upsetting that people in general don't understand this movie. It's peculiar how people screams and grimaces at horror movies that screams cheap, cliché and gore, but hates this type of intelligent horror movie. Oculus, in my opinion, is smart and digs deep in the realm of psychology. It does have jump scares but just a few, enough to maintain the barrier separating it from the cliché. Mostly, it exploits the tragedy of the Russel's years ago and now. And it has to be confusing because if this was real, you'd be incredibly confused as well; how else would you feel if you saw your 10 years old self walking around in present? And will you be scared shitless if you realised you're knee-deep in the mirror maze and there's no way out? Will you be terrified if you suddenly don't know where you are and what is real? Like halfway through a dream but there's no waking up? Also, the ending, you have to admit that it's a massive punch in the face (if the social media hasn't spoilt it for you yet).
I'd give the producers a big compliment for crafting such a good movie. We don't see this kind of depth in horror movies these days.
New generation are brain dead idiots that only know jump scares.
+MrIamcrubgfsty
+Brad Kenn Totally agree, couldn't have said it any better myself!!

You’re so right! The movie was fantastic!
Literally THE BEST horror movie I ever watched. Still sends shivers down my spine. The mind tricks, the ending, everything was amazing. This needs a prequel or a sequel.
It was meant to be a trilogy.
There is a short called Oculus 3 or something, which inspired the whole movie
I saw the movie and it was very original and idk I really liked it except I was really pissed at the ending but it was creepy and it was good
Anastasia S. Yeah the ending was like for real? Smh
Ending was sad and tragic but horror movie usually doesn't have happy endings
How did any horror fan not love this? This is one of the best horror films to come out in the last decade, maybe longer. Intelligent, disturbing, well-acted and well-directed.
Movie was pretty awesome.I don't get how some ppl found it confusing or thought the ending sucked. The mirror affects the characters psychologically. They wanted to destroy the mirror but the mirror finds a way to defend itself like making the people do things to protect it.
The ending sucked because the main character was really likable and smart and we were rooting for her to win
paleobc65 it's a horror film... since when did those types of movies had a good ending...
@@paleobc65 The ending was amazing, it was a mirror reflection to the past, mimicking what had initially happened. Basically the point of the movie
ehsan_iq True, but that still doesn’t take away the fact that some horror movie bad endings aren’t satisfying.
@@paleobc65 So it sucked bc you wanted a fairy tale ending to a *horror* movie?
This movie deserves a better trailer and a better poster, too. The movie is so beyond my expectations. It's not scary, but it's smart and thrilling as well. It plays mind tricks on you, makes you have to think and roll into the movie but not messy. Finally for a long time, a real horror! 9/10
Am I the only guy that just cannot watch these types of movies. I seriously am afraid to look behind me right now.

Very good movie. It doesn't need a sequel but if they make one, I will definitely watch it.
Tho am not sure it would be good lol
I would really want a prequel.. I wanna know more about the past victims of the mirror and its history..
@@batole.s.d1778 really? i think she explained it quite well when going thru the history. what i wanted for the 2nd half was more cat and mouse between the adults and the mirror. i mean, she literally was the only person in history to know what it was and what it was doing, i feel they kinda used that in the first half, then threw that completely out during the 2nd half and made her another easy victim of the mirror :(
The very end of this movie was so deeply disturbing in my opinion. Anyone else agree?
Kinda but it was awesome. " you only see what he wants you to see", GOD SOO COOL
I hated the ending
The ending ruined my entire day. I love the movie the it was so fucked up. I was really attached to both characters and I ended up bawling.
No... And it's worth it to watch it and find out for yourself IMO.
Como aser bestido de cueka
Just watched this movie and I must say that there is some deep thinking behind this movie. A must watch.
Finally, an original idea for a horror film. I've never seen anything resembling the plot of this film, and if this trailer reflects anything about the film, it's that it looks quite excellent.
similar, mirrors.
LOL
JAC Runner Mirrors was atrocious.
lol REFLECTS. I see what you did there!
There was actually a goosebumps book that had a similar idea, I mean obviously it was less gory and creepy. lol but I agree none the less, it looks amazing!
The only thing I didn't like about Oculus was the woman's plan to prove the mirror was evil.
I mean she went through all that trouble to try to capture the mirror's power on film and to make all those safeguards to prevent it from killing her, but the mirror was able to circumvent them so easily.
It's like coming up with an amazingly well thought out chess strategy, but forgetting to plan for the fact that if your king gets in checkmate, you lose.
That and I'm biased towards happy endings.
But it could be an illusion, maybe she didn't really die.
Marquise Weathersby I don't think the cops that arrested Tim and drove him away in a cop car was an illusion and they saw same stuff as he did. But yea could be a illusion maybe she got dragged into the mirror by her mom, but that really don't make any difference because she will still be trapped and in our world she will still be dead.
I think the movie is trying to say that the mirror had it all planned out from the very beginning. It was in control the whole time and nothing the woman could do would prevent her death.
It's quite the downer of an ending.
Alternative Ice I know this is a really late reply but I've only just watched the film. Lol but agree with you. The woman could have just gone into the house, put it on the wall, set the timer on the axe to go off, and then left!
Instead she wanted to be there and by doing that fed its energy so it could control everything. Meh but then I guess that wouldn't make a good film. Haa
@@waynesway8586 she wanted to have everything captured on film as a proof of her father nd her brother's innocence. She wanted to show everyone that he father, Tim and all the former owners of the mirror were victims, not perpetrators. But the mirror won at the end and she died in her noble attempt to clean her family's name. She sure is a brave character.
The best horror movie I've watched. You really have to pay close attention to know everything that goes on. Very good
People who say this movie is confusing completely missed the point of the movie.
what's the point of the movie?
goreycinema I like the movie..but didn't quite understand
@@zorilaz to literally place yourself into the characters. Everything that happened or what they "saw" wasn't real. The mirror consumed them.
The movie is confusing bruh .And we say it as a compliment bcoz there are not many movies where it's hard to decipher what's gonna happen next and what's real or if it's just an illusion. Awesome movie . .....lovee every part of it
Full of suspense. It didn't explain why the mirror was the way it was, but the two converging timelines made it so that the movie was suspenseful throughout the whole thing. The movie also did not have pop-ups, but it was still pretty scary. Worth a watch.
There actually were a follow up planned but it was scrapped for some reason. It had all the good conditions for it.
that light bulb was a badass.
This movie is really underrated. Really makes me confuse between reality or illusion that's what trying to say.
I will always love how he keeps on giving good "horror" movies and shows that aren't really just about ghosts but also about the human mind and how it copes with stress, trauma, and grief. He fcks us with some deep family issues and gives us trippy flashbacks that blend within the present. I especially loved and ached for the ending in this one where Tim is dragged into the cop car for the same thing, suspected murder yet the only difference is that then he had his sister and now he's alone.
Mike Flanagan, you're a brilliant man.
The people who are hating on it obviously haven't seen it.
The movie had a great plot, very tense moments, a subtle introduction, and the flashback sequences made you relate to the confusion and horror of the characters.
If you want "scary" movies (jumpscares and lots of blood, whoopty doo) than this movie isn't for you. But if you don't judge movies by how many blood soaked demon zombie rapists pop out from behind the corner, then it will be a enjoyable experience.
I love how this movie messes with your mind. It's like a psychological thriller.
I think people are just saying it's not all that great because of the trailer. The trailer barely demonstrates how truly horrific this movie is.
No I think people are hating on it because they think it won't be scary and it'll be all jumpstart. But I might go see it if you say it doesn't have all those dumb pop-up "scares".
I loved the two converging stories. It really gave the sense of madness that the characters were feeling, and I would honestly classify this as a psychological thriller instead of horror. We saw this 6 hours ago and are still arguing about whether it was real or imagined, and any movie that can get you analyzing later is great as far as I'm concerned.
+noah bouferrache
Don't get me wrong, it has jumpscares, but they are not the only way the movie attempts to frighten you.
The movie plays in my fear of a distorted reality. Not knowing what's real and what's not real. Also the fear of the unknown and that which can not be explained.
I feel like Tim and Kaylie represent the different manners this movie can be interpreted . Tim , the psychologic approach and Kaylie , the paranormal approach
I just made the connection that the director who did the hill house shows and midnight mass made this movie, makes sense when you think about the similarities between his stuff on Netflix and this movie.
Such a underrated horror classic, deserves more love.
People so picky about scary movies. There's no movie in this world that will make you want to hide in the corner with all the lights on in the house. Quit complaining. :P I thought this movie was pretty awesome!
I hate it when people bag on a "horror" movie because it's not "scary." If y'all would look up the definition of "horror," you'd know that this movie is the absolute epitome of the word. There's were a few jump scares, and granted, I didn't really feel overwhelming terrified, as most "scary" parts were predictable; but the movie is completely shocking, and messed with my head beyond any other horror movie I've ever watched. I think the actors, having not been well known, were very good, and the twists were wonderfully put together. I'm still trying to understand how it all happened; especially the ending. It was a huge twist, and I find myself contemplating whether or not it WAS the mirror, or the guy REALLY WAS crazy. If y'all are looking for blood and guts; this obviously isn't the movie for you. But it's definitely psychologically pain-staking, and brain puzzling. I loved it.
Oh so nobody's going to talk about how the adult version of the boy looks exactly like grown up andy from toy story 3?
I'm a huge horror/thriller fan! This is definitely one of the best horrors i've seen in a while!! LOVED IT!! Sinister was another awesome horror that has stuck with me like Oculus has! CANT WAIT FOR A FOLLOW UP!! There HAS to be ATLEAST a part 2, I mean this story could go on for many chapters if they wanted it to. DEFINITELY A MUST SEE FOR ALL HORROR/THRILLER FANS!!
I was watching the trailer at the movies and as soon as I saw Karen I was like "AHH ITS AMY POND FROM DOCTOR WHO" and that is when I decided I had to see this. :)

this is indeed, a f*cking SCARY movie. unlike the ones that are only scary because of their loud sounds and visual effects
Trueeee I hate how people say it's not that scary just because there isn't a lot of jumpscares
Boom
One of the few horror movies i actually really enjoyed these days. They finally learned that you dont need cheap thrills and jumps to make a good horror movie. You just need a twisted and creepy atmosphere and to play with your mind until the very last minute.
This movie was so beautifully made, I cried at the end and starred at the tv for an hour questioning life.
In my opinion one of the most underrated horror movies of all. I love this movie, its different, clever, scary and unsettling as hell. Mike Flanagan is a fantastic director of horror and nearly every movie he has made is amazing.
Oh look its Amy Pond!

Step 1: Remove mirror from wall.
Step 2: Bring mirror to junkyard and smash.
Movie over.
Intellectual Genius But it would make you think that you are smashing it but you are really killing yourself. Not so sharp for a “Intellectual Genius”.
The trailer is scarier than the actual movie, and that being said, the movie is actually surprisingly enjoyable. There's a lot they could have done with this movie to improve it, but for what it is, it's great. It doesn't necessarily need to be scary to be a great movie, people.
Films in general are knocked for being knockoffs of something else. Horror films in particular have it especially hard in the “new” department because we’re so quickly annoyed when we’ve “seen it all before”.
One of the best Horror movies! Clever script writing ! loved it
Giving it a 10/10 after just watching it. I have never cried watching a horror movie. The way it handled my emotions for 2 hours is just heartbreaking honestly.. Mike Flanagan always surprises with the best. I never thought i would say this, but The haunting of Hill House didn't make me as sad as Oculus did. 😢😢😢
Amazing how scary a mirror can be. A very clever story line, clever how the director merged the flash backs with real time, it helped to tell two stories at the same time, the tragedy in the past, and the forthcoming tragedy in the present. It made me jump several times. Go see it.
This was the best horror movie that's come out in a long time. Bravo
Still the best even in 2022
That ending was INSANE
EXCELLENT MOVIE ! Finally an original story and fully respected.
Amy Pond and Kara Thrace in the same science-fiction movie? = FANGASM
*KAREN GILLANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!*
This still is my favorite horror movie to this day, because of the psychological aspect of it, you start to doubt everything and can't trust yourself, your mind, your eyes. Brilliant!
Brilliant film! The parallel storylines shifts between past and present so very cleverly and makes you feel the characters progressive confusion of reality without actually being confused as a viewer.
Great suspense throughout, powerfully dramatic at times!
Im not surprised writer/director Mike Flanagan went on to do the amazing Haunting of Hill House, which does have some similarities to Oculus in the creative style! One of my favorite modern horror movies for sure!
I hate horror movies but i might watch this just to support Karen Gillan.
I just wanna see the part where she eats the Light Bulb.
My favorite thing about this movie is the minimalist cast. Unlike most horror movies, they didn't have 5 people running around just so they can have 3 of them die gratuitous deaths, keeping 2 around for the climax. It's just a story about a brother and his sister trying to come to terms with the death of their parents.
Best horror movie of 2014... gr8 movie, good acting , scary and most of all unpredictable ending... waiting for the sequel... one of the best horror movie of this decade so far..
Man I can't get enough of this movie.. watched it 12 times and I still get scared. BEST HORROR MOVIE EVER!! period!
This movie is more of a psychological thriller than horror.
I don’t know how this movie is not more well known. It is one of the best horror movies I’ve ever seen. If you’re too weak to stomach an unhappy ending don’t watch this one.
Dont listen to the comments that said the movie was bad.
I just watched it and I found its horror extremely chilling. Very scary and really makes you go cold. Love it
Am I the only one who watched this because of Karen Gillan??
Did I just see 80% of all the jump scares in this movie from this trailer alone? Damn, I guess I practically don't even need to see the movie anymore. Efficient!
There's actually little jumpscares in the movie. It's a great psychological/paranormal horror that has a unique concept.
So you actually see a movie because of the jumpscares? Humm
the best horror movies are the ones that don't have cheap & fake jump scares
Horror movies don't usually creep me out or stick with me, but this did. Very creepy. At first I didn't like the ending and thought she should have just destroyed the mirror right away, but now I think she couldn't have. The mirror doesn't let you so there is no other way it could have gone down.
I think initially she could have turned on the pressure switch while placing the mirror Infront... They both couldv laid down holding hands and jst avoided the anchor.. the mirror only started to manipulate them over time... What else was she expecting to happen?? Obviously the mirror can brainwash them to hurt each other... Why on earth did she wait or sacrifice herself
someone recommend me a movie as good as this (good quality, good actors, good story, recent 2012-now)

I Honestly feel bad for those who are already dismissing the movie without actually seeing it. No spoiler.
This movie isn't the scariest horror movie, but it sure is a very good movie. One that summons your intelligence, one that makes you focus on every detail, one that leaves you touched at the end. If you are looking for a good movie, with a lot of psychology and mystery, this is your movie.

This is such a great horror movie.
SPOILER ALERT the Rock and Stone Cold make a cameo and give the ghost a stunner and a people's elbow!
Oculus has made me to switch off my light bulbs.
This movie scared me so deeply that I found myself questioning if the apple I was about to eat was really an apple, or a lightbulb. It also gave me nightmares. I've never been so horrified by a movie before, and now I'm trying to work up the courage to see it a 2nd time, several years later.
Now this is what I call a horror movie!
Tht looks like an awesome movie! I want to see this now.
Just watched this it was pretty good. slightly dissapointed by the ending. Damn i hate that mirror. wish they would make a sequel.
I can never take horror films seriously because of how ridiculously funny they are, but this film is definitely one of the best horrors in recent years.
Everyone else: I'm never going near a mirror again

One of the most mental movies I ever watched
I'm critical of horror film as they always follow the same generic teenage story line but this was so surprising as it was original and genuinely terrifying! It's a psycological horror and it makes you question the characters sanity as well - the script was well written and yay for a red head actress for once! I defo recommend watching this even if your sceptical ;)
This movie is something else.. i usually just come to see the trailers and read comments to see if the movie is worth watching (i have watch it the second time now)... but how? how someone can write such a good story? it is so disturbing that i have to take a break for a while before watch if again for the details i missed earlier..
