I loved the Sopranos when it aired, but rewatching it now, it is just so much richer. And, I've always appreciated Michael Imperioli's work, but watching the Talking Sopranos podcast has given me a whole new and different appreciation of him as an artist. His intelligence, his insight, his understanding of classical drama and literature.... I had no idea! But rewatching the series during the lockdown while following the podcast was so awesome. That's my longwinded "thank you" to Michael Imperioli....

The amount of Sopranos references/quotes/connotations of Sopranos scenes David Chase was able to weave so elegantly into the “Many Saints of Newark” movie… I was dumbfounded. As someone who has watched the Sopranos 9-10 times through… you really have to be a huge fan of the show to catch it all. Jamie couldn’t have said it better… he really does not waste dialogue. Idk what it is, But I love everyone on this show, especially these 3. Maybe it's because I'm from New Jersey. Maybe it's because I only grew up around my Dad's side of the family that pretty much only consists of Italian Americans from Staten Island Brooklyn and here. We did Sunday dinner every weekend at my grandparents in BK and the adults would watch the show. Because I was born in 93 It wasn't really appropriate if i watched with them until a few seasons in. But, what they didn't know, was when I start with my Mom, she watched it also which made me really want to watch as well, because all thee adults I knew, loved the show. I watched all the everything and caught up before season 5 started, and the watched every episode Sunday night at my Grandparents. As it was happening, I related so easily with Roberts character, even as I was growing, because he was as well. It didn't seem like we were far apart in "life" the getting in trouble and not applying ones self, the first real love who also was a puerto rican girl for me. The same struggles man, the show really is art. I had such a Crush on Jamie, I always thought as I watched "if I was that age, thats the type of girl I'm gonna be with." She was soo beautiful in every season, and I also saw her grow as I was growing so I learned a lot, and was somewhat prepared for things because of her characters struggles and view on things. I still have such a crush btw lol, Jamie I'm 28 can we be together yet? Haha
Last thing, I've rewatched this show sooo many times since 2016ish and man it just gave me such a blast from the past. I miss these times so much it literally hurts my soul. Sunday nights will never be the same again. Rewatching made me realize just how much I learned and related to this show growing up, weather I even knew it or not. As always, it's interesting JLS says that it gets harder and harder watching more of the Sopranos shows when you start watching it... I totally relate and that is how I feel too. As odd as it may sound, once I finish the end of the show, I start again for about the first season and then come back a few weeks (or months) later and watch it again. Twice I have done this. It has some profound effect on you.

My dad reminds me of Tony Soprano. Minus the crime but his mannerisms, his build his speech and all. My dad passed in 2011. James gandolfini I believe in 2012. When I watch it I think of him. So I revisit often as it helps me cope in a weird way. This month marks the 10 year mark for him. So watching it is a weird comfort. So Ive rewatched it once already, that was our Sunday night gig. He would watch it at home while I watched w my husband in my early 20s. We would call each other after each Sunday and talk about it. Im on my 2nd rewatch. It's such a comfortable feeling. It's weird in a good way. ❤️

I feel this as well. I was around the same age as AJ as the show was running and at some point we got HBO, probably sometime during the second or third season. My dad, my little brother, and I used to watch the show every Sunday night through all those years so it really takes me back to a different, simpler time. It’s like we live on a different planet these days.

I loved the series, and the movie. It ties so many things together, and exposes the lies that were told that were needed to keep the family together. BUT, I think there is a gap now that has to be filled between the movie and the series. A gap that needs to tell the story of how Tony Soprano chose to go into that life, and how Christopher was raised and the events that took him down his path. We can all assume, both life paths tie directly back to Dickie. Tony chose that life, because he held Dickie in such high regard, that "if this life is good enough for Dickie, then it's good enough for me". And Christopher's path ties to Tony's, he sees Tony as a father-figure, and follows the same path. We see how both character's could have had different lives if Dickie had lived....and Corrado (Junior) never paid the price for his actions.
