How to Move an Old Xbox 360 Hard Drive to a New Xbox 360 S 4GB (Uncut)

I demonstrate how to move your hard drive from an older version of the Xbox 360 into the new Xbox 360 slim. The actual hard drive is the same, only the casing surrounding the hard drive has changed between the old and new versions of the Xbox 360.

Thanks so much. I put the old hd in my 360S and it worked perfect. Now I can play my old original Xbox games on my newer 360. So yes it will make your 360 backward compatible.

Hell yeah. This worked great. I went from 4GB to to 120GB+ in about 10 minutes. FYI, anyone who's curious, if you glue or tape a little square of something like foam rubber to either side of the hard drive, then it won't sit so loosely in the housing... Thanks for the tutorial, man.

I've actually done this for my sister's white Xbox 360 S, and there was no hard drive in it. So she calls me up to the task, I told her I had an old 360 1G hard drive sitting around the house, we searched for it, found it, and I took it apart aggressively (LOL), and it worked just fine like yours did. It had old stuff on it, but the sis immediately deleted it and started fresh with her Xbox. It was pretty nifty seeing the hard drive work the way it did!

It is possible when you open the old casing just keep the connector from the old hard drive and plug your xbox slim drive in it should work just fine

These are just standard SATA interface HDD. They put a custom firmware on the firmware chip.
