OMG TYSM, when my xbox drive was plugged in, the console would freeze, but when i unplugged it, it would run normally, i needed a way to reset it and use it on my xbox, this was the best and easiest tutorial Ive seen so far, keep up the good work.

Modded Hardware love your channel man!!!! Question: I've seen some xboxes with dual internal hdds, is this something you would know how to do?
I used a 500gb hitachi 2.5" sata hard drive 5400rpm 8mb cache. Was $38 on amazon, once I put it in the fat xbox hard drive casing I turned the jtag on without attaching it. Went to the storage menu and then attached it. The screen went black and eventually it restarted. When I went to the storage menu it showed the unformatted hard drive, pressed the y button to format, had to input my consoles serial number, and then it formatted it. Works great.

Will it be safe to just pop it in a slim? No case nothing. I just ordered my RGH and I ordered a 60GB HDD 2"5 they are all coming tommarow. So will it just be safe to Pop it in with no case? That's what I'm planning to do

I have a question you have to flash the hard drive at an RGH / JTAG I heard at RGH / JTAG you don't have to flash the hard drive only at retail consoles is that correct?
The "Microsoft" hard drives are literally just laptop drives with special formatting shoved in a fancy case
I guess they don't want people messing with the game files.
not just formatting, also special firmware locked to the various sizes. but jtag bypasses that bs. an unmodded xbox you couldn't just swap it in and format it. didn't work.

@@warshack7460 what jtag rgh, or flash the drive? flashing a drive takes seconds. its all annoying. should just ship unlocked like playstation 3, 4, 5
I made an xbox dvd power adapter using the old phat xbox dvd cable. I wired the pins 7,9.11 to ground 5 to red and 10+12 to yellow. It appears to power the device, but I haven't rgh'd my xbox yet, so Time will tell if this works or not.
@Farhan Radzi 2.5, because 3.5s don't fit in hdd's space. You might put 3.5 instead of DVD, but why would you if you can use normal 2.5 hdd.

Replace the hdd on my Jtag console and now I dont have my avatar and when I tried to create a new profile, its asking me to do an update. my dash is 16747 currently and tried to do the systemupdate. File transfer isn't working so with my laptop hard drive (500GB HDD). In XEXmenu the file transfer screen shows up and then nothing happens. No progress bar movements. Nothing. Then it comes off the screen. Help me please?
So changing the hard drive won't remove the jtag or rgh
hello mate, i have a question about making the hard drive to work as properly with the freestyle menu, becouse i didnt find anny links to see how its done, as i saw, you get the original xbox home menu, so how hould i make it to a freestyle menu, mebie you can add a link or sth. like that, thanks for help, becouse i did't do it yet, but im realy afraid to make it bad.
i have a rgh xbox i think, with freestyle software or sth like that, becouse im new to it, i never tryed ti do it myself so i need a lot of explanation, becose i saw that most of the features dont work on external hard drive, witch i use to play most of the games

The demo (xex menu) and your profile has to be transferred to the new hdd

does anyone have a link to do this with a regular "un-hacked" xbox (phat)? i've read it implied as possible to do, but you have to do some partition or formatting prep trickery to make it read the drive if your not "rooted"..
I actually found this googling a different issue i have.. i just got the red ring and did a warranty swap for a new xbox, however this xbox doesnt have any internal storage. Im not talking about the Top hard drive here, i mean the usual 256 or 512 mb or whatever internal storage that i've had come with other xbox's i've owned, doesn't exist on this new one.. Should i be concerned about that? i read once that the built in memory is "on chip" flash storage, that can't be replaced because there is no drive per say that it comes on, it's "built in".. so does that mean the storage dedicated flash "chip" on my board is no good? Having ZERO storage out of the box kinda bugged me since i dont think that is normal, but if its nothing to be concerned and theres no abnormality, ill just keep this xbox and use usb storage until i get around to dismantling this broken external drive i have and doing the format trick to swap it with an old laptop HD..

as far as i know u will only need the western digital ones if u are doing this for non jtag or rgh xboxes if u have a jtag or rgh with stock dashboard or a custom one it won't need the files from microsoft required to make a hard drive readable by the xbox
i transerred the files from my original hdd to the laptop hd but when igo to switch it on its not showing my rgh dash board

I tried to install an 500GB Caviar Blue on may Xbox 360 Jasper using this method, but when i try to format it on the Xbox 360 menu, it just freezes and never finish the formatting. I hear somewhere that big hard drives take a very long time to format, but i got afraid of damaging my Hard Drive, so i sopped the process by turning off the Xbox and decided to ask someone if this is normal of if it's some problem with my console. Could somebody help me, please? Sorry for the bad english, i'm from Brazil.

It only works on particular hard drives for a retail Xbox and you must use special tools and software to format it correctly.

Idk if I'm just not doing the right thing but I have a 500GB external HDD and I want to configure the whole 500GB to my xbox. I tried configuring it but it could only use 39.1GB. How do I use the full 500GB?
Wait an external hard drive is different to what I do in this video. External hard drives can't be configured as an internal storage device. However you can use them to store all your games and files on but it will just look like a USB stick to your Xbox. Use swiss knife formatter to format the hard drive to FAT32 this will let you use most of the storage space on your hard drive.

Like I said format it with swiss knife to FAT32. Don't use Windows Disk Management to format.

Not related - I have admin cmd on start up, when ever I try to remote shutdown a computer with shutdown -i, it allways say the computer in trying to shutdown is not able to be remote shutdown. Help plz.
You must have network sharing enabled on the computer your using and the computer your trying to remote shutdown. You may also have better luck entering shutdown -s -m //IP of computer to shutdown or hostname -c "comment text box"

Guys if your having an e68 error just like me before this is what your going to do
1. turn your xbox on while the hdd is plugged out
2. when in dashboard plug the hdd in
3.the screen will give you no cignal sign and it will go blank depending on your tv
4.wait for it to restart or give the video input back (it will take several minutes from1-10 minutes so have patience
5.now go to your settings its done
Please reply if if it say unformatted and if I format it will it work

Im trying to use a desktop HDD. I know it says Laptop, but my desktop HDD is larger. Its not that it doesnt fit but that it wont recognize it. Could someone please help? If not then I will assume it is ONLY Laptop HDDs.

Check the format on the PC make sure its either not formatted or its NTFS and not FAT32.

As far as I know there is no real limit 1TB should work fine.
