Insinuating that a gay man is "weird" for working in childcare while we are in a climate where LGBT+ folks are being labeled as groomers and predators is incredibly dangerous.
Also, I was raising by funeral home director parents and my father was the County Coroner. She is constantly trying to conflate that being a funeral home director is the same as being a mortician, which is further from the truth. And the narrative that "mothers just know best" just proves how little experience she's had working in the death industry.

It's an easy mistake because sometimes morticians are thr funeral director if its a very small funeral home but in general those are two very different jobs, my grandfather was a mortian turned funeral director, he did it because he very spesificly liked working with dead but not like that.

Well in my line of work I’ve met plenty of mothers who’ve messed up their children, or had them taken away by DCF…so uhhhh. That’s such a frustrating sentiment. Mothers don’t know best. Some do, but many don’t. Popping out another living human being doesn’t qualify her for anything.

Jeanette Braun is NOT a federal lawyer. She is federally licensed but isn’t a federal lawyer. She doesn’t work for the federal government. She even admits in the phone call she’s an Illinois barred attorney, not a federal attorney. She only says that to try and flex as intimidate.
Lauren’s phone call for a wellness check, were she even laughs as she’s reporting for a wellness check. “I want a wellness check because this person is blackmailing and extorting people” which that in and of itself was a bold faced lie. Just wow.
Did you notice that both wellness checks were almost word for word? Because if they weren't, they were EXTREMELY similar in wording!
She doesn't have a federal license, that license doesn't even exist.
Attorneys are licensed by their state, but may be admitted to a particular federal bar (meaning ONLY that they can practice before that one specific federal bar - there are many, and no one is admitted to all of them because no one needs to be admitted to all of them).
I'm just surprised she found an attorney already admitted to a federal bar, who was willing to vouch for her practicing there (required to be admitted to any federal bar). So I'm kind of curious what's going on in Illinois.

as an attorney myself, I found it fucking HORRIFYING. there is no world where I would ever consider doing that, even when I have had the most unhinged opposing parties. and if my client did that? I would fire them as a client.
I'm still baffled bc both calls the operator asks about what content they're posting that warrants a wellness check and the response from the lawyer is "she's crazy she's blackmailing people and she's on reddit" and barely elaborating past that. Like the only kinda actionable one is blackmail but that isn't a self harm behavior how does that warrant a wellness check. If you're calling a wellness check for a stranger and only citing public social media posts you should have to cite an actual post indicating self harm thats way too easy to abuse otherwise.

You can also take them to the police station or fire department usually and they’ll install them for you!! I work in Pediatrics, and the majority of providers I work with are child free.
They also went to 8 years of college, did 3-4 years of internships and residencies at one of the most prestigious Pediatric hospitals in the nation, and know what they are actually talking about, even though they aren't parents.
It turns out that having unprotected sex doesn't necessarily mean that you know anything about car seat or general child safety. It just means you procreated.
It's also ironic that the entire reason her reviews became popular in the first place was because of her specialty as a mortician, despite the fact that she's never actually died, so clearly she doesn't know what she's talking about!
I absolutely love and care about children, but won't have my own for many reasons. Having kids doesn't mean you actually care about them.

Lauren the Mortician is wildly unqualified to talk about car seat safety. I was a paramedic in a busy, urban system for years. I couldn't tell you which car seat is best. When parents asked us anything about car seats, we were trained to tell them the most important thing was proper fit and installation and refer them to the local fire stations that had certified professionals like Jamie on site.
As a single dad who gets so much distrust, side eyes, gossiping and even harassment from moms who simply assume im up to no good because im a man...shes giving me the same vibes. Even without outright saying it, shes really making it obvious that its the fact its a dude that shes projecting her idiotic bias.

It annoys me so much when mothers think they know everything. I had near constant ear infections as a baby. I just found out last week that my mom didn’t realize babies are supposed to have their ears covered when they’re being bathed because water has a hard time draining out of the baby ear canal. So those “mystery” constant ear infections were from her own lack of basic baby knowledge 😭

I am a member of one of the many numerous legal boards. We read LTM's attorney, Jeanette Braun's original cease and desist missive. The document was appallingly bad; we were left wondering if Ms. Braun obtained her law degree from the back of a matchbook cover. Kitti should file a complaint against Jeanette Braun with the Illinois state bar for unethical behaviour.
I honestly have to believe she thought that demand letter would never see the light of day. Surely she had to think her being a lawyer alone would scare Kitti enough to just submit. In doing so- JeANeTTe could say whatever she wanted, in whichever way she wanted. I'm sure all lawyers wish to say things like this, but they don't because it's unprofessional. She honestly just took the chance to live out her dream of talking crap, using her license to hide behind.

My uncle doesn't trust the feeding recommendations on cat food bag labels, it's to make your cats fat and sell more cat food. His cats are starving, scavenge for plastic to eat off the floor. We adopted one from him and got her at 7mo, she's flourished and is the best cat ever but still has trauma-learned behaviors. He laughed in response to my mom telling him to clean their litter boxes so she doesn't have to clean cat pee off his couch cushions, bed, feces out from underneath his bed again. Human medicine (without accounting for body weight in dosage) is good for them, calms them. Playing is bad, riles them up. Kicked us out for playing with them. Anything that obviously is more convenient/cheaper for him is best for the cats, anything he doesn't want to do is bad for them. We'd report on family but a) the cops here are aware and would only care if it were dogs and b) he was just in jail for 4 months (when/why she cleaned his place) which put a huge strain on my mom to pay his bills in the meanwhile. Sorry for trauma dumping.

As a foster parent I can VERY confidently say, just because someone is a parent, it doesn't mean they are doing things correctly, know what they are doing, or have some magical ability just because they have kids. She can talk about products she has used, just like any mom but we only use a handful of products. CPSTs look at dozens of different car seats and other products. New/ first time parents rely on actually experts.
BTW, LTM is not a medical examiner or coroner. Even if she was actively a mortician, morticians don't know much more than most. Yes she would see more death but they don't open bodies or exam internal injuries. They clean bodies, embalm, dress bodies and put on makeup. Nothing that would make them a "safety expert".

As a licensed funeral director and embalmer we are not trained to make these decisions or recommendations from a point of a subject matter expert as we are not trained in forensic sciences, risk assessment, or emergency medicine.
On the sciences side we take basic courses in an and p, chemistry, microbiology restorative art, embalming.
Directing focuses more on sales, accounting, business admin, mortuary law, cultural considerations, history.
Usually and under grad in mortuary services focusing heavily on the directing side of things through that is dependent on the university curriculum.
It may be different in the US, but I worked in the nursery department of a store and you couldn't even legally talk about let alone sell a car seat without passing an extensive course. You then had to fill out all sorts of paperwork and checks before you could sell one for every customer once certified. Car seats are not the same as other baby products because there is a genuine safety concern and ill suited recommendations can kill a child. This is one area, much like healthcare, where the opinion of the qualified is really far more valuable than others.

I hate the car seat discussion. My mom is certified and volunteers her time at fire stations where people go to get their seats either installed or checked for correct installation. Just because you’re a mother and can read a manual, does not mean you put the seat in correctly. There is nothing wrong with calling her out for spreading misinformation about children’s safety. And there’s a way to go about responding to it, blocking someone and criticizing them for educating you is not the way to do it. She really has let all of this go to her head.
