and yes I know my normal attacks aren't levelled enough to get good damage from plunge. the damage isn't the reason i don't like plunge for her, it's because it doesn't use barbara's kit at all. Of course plunge is good with her, it has to be good by definition. It's cool that you can do vape plunge, but barbara has no identity here.

Have you intentionally ignored Thrilling Tales? This weapon is even better on her than Prototype Amber (at least for ATK scaling DPS like Wanderer).

@@beancake So my Barbara isn’t built enough for me to have a fair comparison, but the Qiqi version is very comfy and easy to play. I have her on R3 sac, so her E healing is always going and you get a little freeze, too. Qiqi’s healing is so big that you just facetank everything while spamming normals and watching Yelan’s burst procs just rip through them.
Using healers is my first instinct but I come from 20 years of mmorpg's where I enjoyed being the guild/team healer. So I'm really happy to see healers getting use and creeping into the meta in Genshin.

But ultimately I just feel like I'm the most useful making sure everyone else is out there kicking ass. I love to play healers and buffers in more games than I can remember. Back in the day I played a druid or shaman in WoW, healing my husband's warlock when he'd aoe himself and everyone around us on pvp server. In Overwatch my youngest loved playing Bastion with me watching their back as Mercy. Feels like a win win for me and those I play with :)

Barbara is my go to healer in most situations because of how many ways she can heal herself and the other characters. I love not having to worry about walking away from an aoe effect after putting it down, having the option to full heal the team by temporarily switching to her attacks if my burst isn’t up, and knowing that her burst will be able to handle healing everyone back to full in an instant and then I can switch away. I’ve finally gotten my hands on a few more characters with healing kits more recently but Barbara continues to be my go-to
Same here! I built Kokomi too, and more recently I've also been using Yaoyao and Qiqi was my first 5 star, but the adorable idol is still my favorite healer
I would do the same, but i got tired of being freezed all the time (and im too lazy to catch the mushrooms) so i have build Qiqi.

I've loved my Barbara ever since (and this was very early in my gaming experience) I was fighting the Primo Geovishap and ALL my characters died, except Barbara, and she solo killed him. It took me about 10mins, and she was hitting him with about 70 DMG with each splash, but she was unkillable due to her E skill. Best secret DPS ever.
Her outfit and animations are so cute i've always loved having her on field the most
AR 59 and still use Barbara since the start, my build is a mess but she still works with Nilou and Furina. Definitely a Believer
Babara is just awesome , i would never get consistantly 36 stars without her.I and agree , the synergy with Furina is just montruous.
Lots of 4-stars need some love too! Just went overboard building C6 Noelle (got her Redhorn and triple crowned her) and I regret nothing... except all the primos going to full weapon pity and all the resin I used😅.
Noelle is technically meta now with Furina though.. not really one of the underrated chars anymore
My Noelle is a character I built out of respect for carrying me through the early game. Then along came Furina - so I gave her the last push. I was shocked to see those numbers, fr.
As a low spender I've very much had to take what I could get in spite of tier lists and as it turns out that was lucky because that's resulted in me using Barbara and Lisa in my top team to this very day (85 days in AR50) I just got Barbara to C6 when pulling for Neuvillete and now she's even more insane. That revive comes in clutch SO often it's crazy. Don't sleep on her!

It really makes _more sense_ in people's minds to see *" T H E D P S "* as the obvious on-field character of choice...
...BUT in *Genshin* we could use certain meme builds with a carry *Barbara* since the beginning, as pretty much all the teammates of her two main "Pre-Dendro" comps have been in the game even since _before_ release: *[Barbara + Fischl + Beidou]* make for a solid *EC* core, while *[Barbara + Bennett + Sucrose]* was used for some crazy _Damage Per Screenshot_ numbers; The *Clam* set, *Dendro* reactions, *Nilou, Furina* and even *Xianyun* only solidified her place in the accounts of those few that saw her potential instead of listening to such naysayers as Mtshed, Tectone and even Zajeff, who back in the day where the ones going all _monkey brain_ over *Diluc* and the such~ It's nice to see someone actually testing her and accepting the truth that, even with lower numbers than a "proper" carry, using the healer as an on-fielder may bring a ton of comfort to our teams

i do use barbara in nilou bloom, but u have to admit that she is really not an ideal choice in almost any teams.
yes she works, but she is hardly good. in my case im using her just because i don't have other option. which is mostly the case for her... an alternative option

There's also this creative Burgeon-Burn-Vape Barbara feat. Dilluc, Nahida, and C4 Layla from furu. One of the most fun teams I've ever seen.
If you are ER challenged like me, she is very hard to charge. 80 cost with little ER generation. Kinda like Noelle. They did her dirty by making her freeze the team and low partical generation. Fix that and she would be wonderful. Carried me though the early and mid game but that was years ago. I find myself only using 5 healers now: Ben, Noelle, Kuki, Baizhu and Xianyun. I don't have Chevy.
We can add the fact they made her not triggering Millelith with E too!
But yeah, she's pretty underrated overall sadly, and I'll have to build her soon (and I'm talking in late game perspective for fun mainly)
Healers are always very comfy and allowing more fun in casual and runs for chill, and probably most players shouldn't sleep on Barbara or non Benny healers

Biggest differences I have between Barbara and Kokomi are that 1) barbara healing travels with you, so it’ll be better against enemies that move around a lot and 2) kokomi has some interruption resistance in burst state, so you can tank some hits without getting knocked back.

You can also try Barb, Bennet, Xiangling, Kazuha (Barb national)
Rotation: Barb E (Make sure E touches enemy), Bennet Q (Must not E), Kazuha QE (pyro+hydro swirl), Xiangling QE, Barb Charge Spam, Barb normal attack when Bennet Ult died or when Stamina low (to let Xiangling Vape instead)
For my F2P account, with 4p Wandertroupe and Widsith R3, She is able to consistently hit 120k per Charge Attack.
This team has carried me through all abyss so far due to not many abyss side has pyro or hydro immune units.
Cons of this team: 23-25 sec rotation, and no shielder for Barb charge attack

Thanks for the guide ahah I asked for it, and that's motivating me in building her (finally). Even though I'm AR60, I kinda always played the sweaty way, even though units like Diluc and Barbara appealed me, "it wasn't optimal", but now, only thing left is to play these units / or to speedrun lol

i already using full EM on field barb as driver in EC team prior to dendro and prior furina.... with dendro driver barb rocks even more especially with nahida... so i am very happy that u made this video.. she is really very under rated...

I am a Barbara believer. She and Furina carried me through the whole story. Also I am surprised you didn't talk about thrilling tales, I feel like that a good cheap choice for her and then buffs your next swap.
actually, this is an old tech, but it's a bit irrelevant for Barbara here, TTDS is being good on ATK scaling teams, which he didn't quote. Only relevant archetype would be Freeze, where as Jello said sucks for her. In Nilou, she wants EM and on field she doesn't pass anything.
Only argument for TTDS would be buffing a Pyro Reverse Vape carry, which feels cope a bit for her. I believe he tried to really showcase best teams

Back when we had a ton of Pyro shields in the Abyss, I used Clam Barbara, Furina, Xingqiu, Kazuha as the team to counter that.
Another consideration for the Kokomi vs Barbara comparison is that Kokomi has interruption resist during burst. So, with additional resist from the likes of Xingqiu or Beidou, she has close to Raiden level poise.
I totally agree with you that Barbara is great in Nilou team and very comparable with Kokomi. I used her in Nilou team for about half a year before I finally got Kokomi and in some situations Barbara even felt better because she was able to sustain harder hits than my Kokomi. I also found Barbara's teamwide healing much more straightforward and useful than Kokomi's.
With regards to using Nilou in Abyss, in lower floors it is easily possible to kill any Dendro immune enemies with Nilou's water slashes (I did not skip leveling up Nilou's talents, that might be why...). And in floor 12 I recently solved it by putting Yelan in the team, giving it plenty hydro damage to kill the few dendro specters getting in the way when I needed to put that team against them. But so far there's always been one half with no dendro immune enemies in Abyss, I am using Nilou team constantly in Abyss for whole of 4.x.
Apart of Nilou team, Barbara's been always my go to character for breaking pyro shields, be it on Pyro Regisvine or on Pyro Hypostasis. Again, she can easily sustain the hits and has plenty of hydro application, getting the job done the fastest and cheapest of all my characters.
No one makes guides for Barbara, happy to see it! She’s been underrated since Sumeru. I think at this point post-Nilou and Furina she’s one of the best starting characters (still well behind XL, but still).
I do think Kokomi feels like a bit more of an upgrade than you do, especially for Nilou. But Barbara still isn’t bad, especially not in the way the community tends to view her
My reason why I use Barbara over Kokomi specifically for my Nilou-Kirara-Nahida team is her mobility (I'm not limited to the circle impact of Koko's Jellyfish) and the burst of core damage from casting her skill.
Was listening to Zajeff yesterday and he said chongyun was a bad unit. I’d love for you to do a deep dive on him cause he’s definitely not bad. He’s got an Incredible amount of utility that no one uses and it’s kinda funny to see people praise book worm and completely ignore Dommy mommy’s nephew
in one of my accounts i built her and she's pretty decent, i changed her for dori because I was using lisa and I needed more ER (your dori video convinced me btw, no regrets). But I will definitely use her in other teams in the future.
The Fischl team is one of my main ones. Mostly cause Barbara and Fischl have been two of my favorites
She’s the only four star character with a cut in animation using her burst. She was originally supposed to be a five star, but they decided to make her a free four star to ensure that everybody has a chance of survival.
Also without that animation, there wouldn’t be a good indicator that she did it

C6 Barbara and c6 qiqi are the only charecters who can revive a fallen charecter! I want one of them so badly(but,Hoyo,don’t make me lose 50/50 s for c6 qiqi)

She's overall a great f2p character, especially considering how important the hydro element is and how small the 4* selection is for said element
As an actual Barbara main I love this video and how it covers her strenght and weaknesses. She was my first healer I used for a long time when I started the game and I was so happy when Nilou and Nahida made her viable in another way. While often there are upgrades for her they arent necessarely needed. She is the unit I have the most sets farmed atm because I play her as a regular Clam healer, Navia TTDS support (needs 250+ ER tho lmao), Bloom Barbara with Sacfrag and now Plunge Barbara on Shimenawas. I pulled for Xianyun just for Barbara basically and its the most fun Ive had in Genshin for a while and I actually 36 star with this team

One of the first things I did when Furina got released was try on field Kokomi with both Yelan and Xinque for the fun of it. They summoned a tsunami and one of the pyro lectors died when I wasn't even looking

She was my only hydro char for like a year. Shes got high hydro app n the comfy healing was always nice.

I have a team of kokomi, hydro traveller, venti and furina and cleared abyss 12 like butter. Even i was shocked as i never intended them to work so well together

Oh that church girl. I always use her for healing and doing dendro reaction. Totally worth it for early games. Even if it just me using it with Collei or (dendro)Traveller or both. Just do burgeon or hyperbloom for alot things.
As someone who didn't have a single other hydro character for almost 2 years on my account... Bar bruh sure carried me through the game and the abbyss 💪

I have a C6 Barbra that I've started to love using her in my Wanderer teams and whenever I'm in two person co-op. Hat Guy is so squishy having the auto-revive is super nice if I fail to dodge a blow. Only complaint is that her skill inflicts Hydro on the user which is annoying when dealing with cryo enemies.
barbara is still amazing! especially for me who is in this in-between spot of definitely no longer being a beginner but is still not quite yet getting to floor 12 of the abyss. i got C6 barbara with the current banner and even though i know i still won't be able to get to floor 12 with my characters/builds, it's definitely been fun just trying and having her C6 revive save me.
I use Barbara as an on-field driver for Burgeon and it works quite well in the slot (Barbara/Nahida/Xingqiu or Yelan/Thoma).
I've been using Barbara as the healer on my Hyperbloom team because I don't have Kuki Shinobu. I've still only managed 33 stars in the Spiral Abyss so far, but I keep trying to get better as my account improves.
Haven't used her much since early game. But thanks to puling hard for Nuevellette and Kazuha C1 on the latest banner I now have Barbara at C6. I'll put some decent artifacts on her and try her in the abyss.

Once we got the Clam set, i farmed it for them and was adding new characters over time, now i have a team for both:
Kokomi, Beidou, Faruzan, Raiden - kind of a dual dps team, Koko drives Beidou's burst, then Raiden bursts, does dmg and recovers energy, they all also trigger EC, can swap Fischl instead of Beidou for ST...it's really fun to play
Qiqi, Nahida, Furina, Sucrose - basically a fridge as they call it but with Qiqi as the driver, can put electro instead of Sucrose for HB, having the on field healer means the off fielder slots are super flexible
I never really benched healers, i prefer them over shields
I have Layla, Thoma, Tankfei, Kirara...all built but i am not using them that much
kaeya and barbara carried me all the way to sumeru, I start playing this game in 3.7 update and yea, it was fun. I remember they nerf barbara healing range and yea I was pretty sad to know about it because I always use her in coop boss
Like XianYun is an amazing dps at C0 with Furina and Faruzan. You can add another Anemo to take advantage of Faruzan or add a Cryo Unit to make it a comfy freeze team.
Barbs is a mainstay in my Nilou team, I just prefer the mobility of the hydro application from her ring over Kokomi's stationary jellyfish, feels a lot more versatile. It also lets me have Barbs equipped to stack EM, while having Kokomi kitted out with a more traditional healer kit to run shotgun for Furina in my Navia/Chiori/Furina/Kokomi team. Everyone's a winner that way really.
I wanted Koko for a while, but i eventually gave up and built Barbara - and honestly? Amazing choice. I use her on at least 5-6 teams. My favorite is actually Wrio/Kazuha/Kayea(c6)/Barbara - its a REALLY fun "freezing beyblade" team that isnt locked in circle impact, mobile, good grouping, and has been ny fav team atm.
This girl saved my account and nullified my justifications to quit early on, I proudly don't regret prioritizing her and Noelle as they both turned out to be some of my most reliable and powerful units. She also works extremely well with kaeya, dehya and lisa.

I don't use her much any more because I have so many hydro characters, but I agree that she is better than most people give her credit for.
I was surprised you didn''t mention Barbra, Nahida, Kuki + flex (often Furina). Barbra is on field more, but Nahida can jump in as needed for more dendro,. Double healing rings + up close and personal hydro / electro can be fun. Also sac-frag feels like the best weapon to avoid down times.
Self hydro (against cryo) is really the only part of her kit that sucks, but all the haters overlook that on Xingqiu and self pyro on Bennett. Having the only cheat death in the game is also a pretty big asset.

Hey jello, if you see this I have some interesting teams you might want to try with barbara. One is barbara nahida xiangling raiden, a hyperburgeon team, xiangling on ballad for more EM teamwide. Rotation is raiden skill, nahida skill, xiangling skill burst, nahida burst then normal attack babara. Hyperbloom from raiden burgeon from xianling, it's really fun. Also the other team is a team I call thunderstorm. Barbara, jean,raiden with a flex 4th spot for fischl or whoever you want. But you raiden skill, vivi shred with jean skil, Barbara skill, jean burst then raiden burst. The self hydro swirls giving electro charged and raiden is a beast dps of course. Plus the team never dies due to 2 healing burst and 1 healing skill. Super fun teams!
Just need Furina and Kazuha to do a comfy team huh.
I'm about to build her because I like the idea of using a forgotten character in a viable way, especially that I'm farming Husk for Chiori so Barbara gotta use those clam pieces.
My Lv79 Barbara did carry me on some old abyss (lector introduction mainly). Taser/Tazer works just fine with her as a driver with any VV anemo char.
Also she's a broken char for early AR / WL progression because she only require a refined TTDS. Huge buff + healing + some Hydro app, it can allow many ways to minimal invest on other char and still clear content while leveling. Further more, I still think that because everyone "start" with DMC, Collei and Barbara, Nilou is a f2p friendly 5* to build around.
It's definitely a char that will fall off in all/most account. But I still have no issue to recommand a minimal invest in her (like up to Lv60~70+ with 6/6/6 talents) to do the job while increasing your roster. It will be better than nothing.
I only finally cracked and got Kokomi because I wanted a second Barbara with how much I was using her, and I knew that Kokomi was the premium upgrade for my Ayaka freeze team. But I made do for a long time with Barbara on that team. Go figure tho, just as I finally put together my best Ayaka freeze team, the meta went and put it in the trash.
My Barbara team is her, Dehya, Nahida, and Raiden with Barbara as the driver for activating Burgeon and hyperblooms.
Basically invincible as Barbara gets damage mitigation standing in Dehyas skill and heals as she auto attacks.
first time i 36* abyss i used barbara in a ayaka morgana team so that she could revive ( triple maguu kenki abyss) , and with that c6 revive she helped me win, one of my og characters, im just sad i wasnt playing when they gave the skin for free cuz i love it to this day .
Barbara isn’t bad she’s meant for early game and Dendro thankfully boosted her, I’m currently using her with Ayaka, Yoimiya, and Xinyan for friendship maxing and dailies so far it’s fun team.

not too sure about going toe to toe with madam qingqe oceanid again after tortinelli and xingqiu, but she's been much less scary and almost relaxing thanks to burgeon and hyperbloom - was lucky enough to get layla and yaoyao at early AR so the teams that fight her have always been full melee oops
For the Nilou part, I think it's mainly a feeling people have after using bloom teams too much. I feel that way with hyperbloom, and I know many people have that sentiment. You can absolutely use someone like Yelan or Furina to deal with pesky dendro immune mobs, but certainly it's a dead team against cryo shields or a dendro immune boss(if your Yelan/Furina isn't hyperinvested). It would just be dumb to force her teams into those kinds of rooms, but most teams have at least 1 or 2 abyss setups that are hard to clear with. As strong as Neuvillette is, he will lose against the tulpa every single time. Vape teams are probably the closest to being able to clear any abyss setup, but even those teams could struggle in the future if they release a particularly tough geo shield. Like if the geo shield boss from this cycle didn't allow plunges. Edit: But then again you can add in Zhongli or go double geo vape, so vape really is the most versatile team variation imo.
Fr Barbara is so underrated. Like, she's a 4* whose c6 can LITERALLY REVIVE A CHARACTER. I don't use her that much nowadays but in my Nilou team she's a must have cause my on fielder is Nahida lol
At 6:45, Neuvillette's A1 is NOT a %dmg bonus buff, it's a completely separated multiplier. The 35% that is lost on his A1 is much more valuable than "35% dmg bonus".

I run barbara with Xiangling, Nahida and either NOelle or Raiden.
Noelle for the Burgeon nukes and Raiden for the more offensive and ranged version

For sure a 5 star in Nilou bloom team, I used her for a while before pulling Kokomi only to replace her. It was not worth it IMO barbara was doing a really good job.
I actually really love playing Barbara, Furina, Yelan and Xiangling. Everyone is buffed by Furina and Xiangling gets to vape every hit.
While agree with most of this video I would like to add some other advantages that Kokomi has over Barbara:
-- Interruption resistance. Kokomi has an easier time to just tank damage, a big reason why a lot of players like to play healers on-field.
-- Particle generation. Especially useful with other hydro teammates like Furina. Lowering their ER requirements.
-- Higher consistent healing. Better scaling's on attack, with the jellyfish allows her to reach higher clam damage. Barbara just maxes out a single pop with her burst.
-- In order for Barbara to deal personal damage compared to Kokomi, you will need to build damage stats on her. While Kokomi can stick to HP + HB.
Definitely need to scale back the EM on her for me. I just threw a bunch of em pieces on her for Nilou team and BOOM everything explodes… but I need my second Dendro to be defensive in nature hence why I have Yaoyao.

Exactely. She was originally planned as a 5* but then the hydro application/damage on her burst got removed right before her release to nerf her with Kokomi in mind.

I'm surprised you made no mention of thrilling tales for Barbara, even if only to say that other options were better in certain teams, because it's so frequently the first thing I reach for with her. It's obviously not the best on-field choice (ie, not for bloom teams), but it works great to buff my Raiden before a burst on a hyperbloom team.
The self wet application can be annoying against certain enemies but her full health revive at c6 is invaluable
I just recently started fighting the pyro cube in Inazuma & ended up using Barbara to do it, And after looking in to the fontaine craftable weapons with Bond of Life that requires a healer so i’m curious how well build i was brainstorming would work.
Barbara:
Flowing Purity ( fontaine craftable )
2x Heart of Depth ( hydro DMG )
2x Maiden Beloved or 2x Ocean Hue
( Healing Increase )
One thing I'll have to disagree with you on this is Barbara vs Kokomi on Ayaka teams. As an Ayaka main pretty much from when she released, who has used both Kokomi and Barbara as her hydro aplicator, I find Babs much more comfy, particularly for CC, between the stamina reduction for Ayaka's alt dash and the hydro aplication on Barbara's skill aura make that dash freeze anything you want to hit (barring things immune to freezing). The mobility gained from Barbara over Kokomi is what I personally find to be more useful.

One thing I'd comment on Nilou Bloom team is that, specters aren't a hard counter as you might think as the Ocean Hued ticks of Kokomi really kill the specters fast. The one downside of Barbara as an OHC wearer is how her burst is a burst heal which is anti-synergistic with OHC in the first place which values consistent heal over time to proc those ~30k ticks.
Still, I'd agree she's is very viable in Abyss cos in the end, if you play the team and elemental synergy right, any character can beat the Abyss even as its required damage is steadily raising higher and higher per patch. :)
I'm a big fan of on-field drivers in general and the two hydro healers are very good since hydro is the most versatile element....That said, I don't use barbara much if at all, as Kokomi has decent damage and a more sensible rotation as you have a consistent pattern of skill and burst... Furina makes monohydro viable and Kokomi and Yelan have always worked well together since their burst windows line up well...
My first 36 star used Barbara hyperbloom and it was definitely the stronger team.
