    Man I humbly commend you for this intuitive video. I went through what these proud Benz owners went through. I have a 2014 Mercedes E350... The price bullshit tag that Benz dealership try to charge me $236 then a side shop try to charge me a $150 diagnostic fee in general after I told them what the issue was and had the findings of the Benz dealership in written form verifying the issue. X amount of dollars would be added when they got the filter and then installed the filter. I just felt it was too expensive and not reasonable. I did exactly as your video instructed and mission complete. Thank you for saving so much money in the long run. You good people.

    Great job on the video. Looks just like the process for my C250. Preventative pro tip: Run your fan without AC with regularity to prevent the mold and smell. If you do get the odor, avoid AC and run fan only until the smell goes away.

    Your instructions were very helpful. I just replaced my cabin air filter & cleaned the AC evaporator coil in my 2014 Mercedes Benz E350 Convertible. The Kool-it worked very well. $20 for cabin air filter and $15 for Kool-it. Saved approx $200 doing it myself. I spent about 20 minutes completing the repair along with a size 20 torque bit with my drill and a few towels. Thank you so much for your video!

    Thanks for your video. Just finished my service and everything went smoothly thanks to your instructions. Also, I’ve read on other MBZ forums that the clips you show are installed by the factory and are meant to be taken off at the first service (you just need the white sliding plastic lock). Size of the three Torx screws is T20 (adding this for others). Cheers! :-)

    This was a very helpful video. I have a 2013 E350 and followed these instructions. It eliminated the odor I'd been smelling for over a year and saved me $230. And this $230 MB was recommending to rid myself of the odor was to replace the air filter never mentioning the coils. Following the instructions on the video, it took me about 20 minutes to perform the service and I am not mechanically inclined. Thanks for sharing!!

      Wow! That makes me very happy to hear. I didn't even know that people would actually watch my video. Good to hear you saved some money. Dealer people act stupid when it comes to this problem. I have spoken to many of them and even offered a solution to minimize it by drying the coil when the car is parked... I think MB is trying to avoid admitting to an engineering mistake at a corporate level. But this problem is so wide spread that MB will lose customers.

    Thank you so much for this instructional video. Your directions were excellent. I didn't get any of the cleaning agent drip down on my mat, but that's a good thing. It all drained out the drain hole under the car. Good product by the way. No more stink, and for less than $45, the cost of the MANN filter and the Kool-it product.

    At best you're getting some of the coil maybe half but without seeing you won't be able to get the full coil the fins dividers prevents the foam from properly spreading. But it might be just enough for mild bad odors

  • @thefranzliszt5427
    @thefranzliszt5427 Před 6 lety

    I got 2 cans of Kool-it and emptied them in, I just hope the tube reached into the area that it needed to get to. It wasn't very easy threading it around and I don't really know if it made it to the coils. I did have a good amount of leakage out of the filter chamber and also under the car so i hope that is a good sign. I guess I will know the next time it is warm and I turn my a/c off and on.

    Hey! I bought this product and have now treated my 2012 E350 twice now. Better but not great. Wondering if I did it right. The first time there was NO backwash of the product into the flooring area- all came out the underside. Second time I have some back flow but not much. Still some smell.
    Do I need to do a third?

    A fairly liberal coating of your Favorite scented Febreeze Will help in giving that new fresh scent through the vehicle. Apply the coating immediately before installing the new filter and when you run the fan on low the nice new fresh scent will get into the vents and give the car a new scent. Think of it like this......If you can’t bring the vehicle to Hawaii bring The scent of Hawaii to your vehicle.

    • @diyoung1618
      @diyoung1618  Před 8 lety

      it does remove the foul smell if you clean the coil. But it's not permanent fix as mold will come back when you have moisture and it isn't allow to dry quickly. It doesn't help that MB closes the damper when car is parked. So you have no air flow and tons of moisture on the coil.

    Mold/mildew odor is caused by POOR EVAP Condensation drainage. Aloows condensate to collect in drain pam. If you use ac on a hot humid day and your car isn't peeing like a race horse this coil cleaner will not solve the problem the odors will return.
    An evap coil takes heat from ait passing through it . The cooling is als dehumidification hence the water drpping from all AC unit. If drainage is blocked or poor the base for mold soup is provided.
    The drain cause the odors.
    Keep intakes clear ( usually in front of windshield, fender drains clear of plant matter and flysh flushwith clear water. Coil cleaner can deodorize but will not stop the cause,poor drainage
