Great tips - here is another - wear petroleum jelly or a good moisturiser on your feet, it helps keep the skin healthy.
One problem with removing insouls, taking off shoes etc is the time it takes, especially if there are multiple river crossings.
If you are ever in Australia - come to QLD - Binna Burra on the gold coast hinterland. The lower carpark walk - illinbah - has 12 - 14 river crossings. 16k or so but will take 5 hours walking at a decent pace.
I agree with you. I've hiked 80 miles in the Idaho Sawtooth Mnts in the last month and came to the exact conclusion you did. If you don't have a clearly safe way over the water then simply remove your insoles and socks and walk through. Optionally I sometimes carry a ultralight small towel within easy reach to dry my feet prior to putting my socks back on. I thought I had invented the whole concept on my own, but apparently not. :-)
I didn't invent it either. I got the tip from a guide in the Sierra Club. +1 on the small towel.
I've got some crocs I think ill just keep them attached to my pack so i can put them on at crossings
Watched all of it
And had nothing interesting at all to say.
@@There-Is-No-Virus that’s a msg to myself to remind me that I watched it, this short version of my reminder is only used when I am multitasking
