Thereโs nothing about this I donโt love โค๏ธ top notch short filmโฆ.as usual your reactions make it even funnier! Genuine enjoyment shown by both of you๐
Wow, thank you! ๐คฉ
15:35 I love Stanley's "look out" when the chimney falls on Oliver's head!๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Haha same! ๐น๐น
They are without doubt ny favorite comedy duo of all time. I have seen this film countless times and it nevr fails to make me laugh. It was wonderful to share it with you both, I had tears running down my face and my belly hurts ! Wonderful and generations and generations just love them.
Couldn't agree more! Thankies so much! ๐น
Helpmates is 92 years old. It's as funny now as it was when it was released. I'm sure that patient recovery would improve if they piped Laurel and Hardy into hospitals although perhaps some people might do themselves an injury through laughing. Increasing the flow of dopamine and serotonin in the body must be beneficial. A few more recommendations. Midnight Patrol, County Hospital, Me And My Pal, Perfect Day and Come Clean. It's a shame that terrestial television in the UK stopped broadcasting Laurel and Hardy in the 80's I think. Those of us who were brought up watching these films have never forgotten them and a couple of generations have missed out. A few years ago there were special Laurel and Hardy screenings in cinemas and the kids present laughed as much the adults.
Awesome Thankies for the info ๐ฅฐ
@@DashyXDAndDadReacts Forgot to mention another highlight - czcams.com/video/XPIw6eRW_Bg/video.htmlsi=d5UVKxqbgJEsqwsD - bottling the wine. It's from Bohemian Girl which is one of their weaker films but this sequence with Stan is hilarious.
Laughter really is contagious! Very enjoyable-thank you.
Our pleasure! ๐น๐ฅฐ

Awesome ๐คฉ Thankies so much!
I had a DVD box set with this exact intro too. Every movie had this little teaser telling you that this is some precious stuff you are watching, love it!
Totally in love with Stans hair. The way it stands up slightly and the cut, it's always a surprise to see, it gives him a little bit of a troublemaker look.
As always, I have a few useless but nevertheless fun facts about this movie for you two:
The postman was played by Rob / Bob Callahan, unlike the usual 'best postman of all times', Charlie Hall. Not so much a "fun" fact though but, he died a very early death, only a few years after this movie, just in his early 40s. He played with the Stooges more frequently than with Laurel and Hardy. His last appearance was as a minor role / extra in a 1937's thriller, "She's dangerous!". Due to his prominent facial features and sharp character he stood out really well though, and would most surely have been recast for more Laurel and Hardy movies if given the chance, but wasn't.
Mrs. Hardy was played by Blanche Payson who was a proverbial movie "heavyweight": she starred in over 160 movies and shorts, that is almost as much as James Finlayson himself (over 190, making him the King of Extras / minor characters), and more than Stan Laurel himself.
In the skit, Ollie is getting karma'd really hard as it is implied that while Stan did the majority of the work, he just sat around and took care of himself, bathing and picking out his best outfit. It's only implied though.
The movies theme is more the "chaotic self inflicted chaos" type, where Ollie brings most of the calamity upon himself. (Helpmates, Busy Bodies, The Music Box, Towed in a Hole, Sons of the Desert)
It's the stark contrast to "mutual chaos" type, where both Ollie and Stan contribute to the madness in equally compromising ways (Hog Wild, Dirty Work, Blotto, They Go BOOM). Essentially, all movies where Ollie treats Stan exceptionally bad and doesn't supervise him in a friendly manner, are self-inflicted chaos, whilst the other typus is defined by Ollie acting much dumber than usual, almost on or matching Stan's level of (viewer-subjective) intelligence.
It is also the second ranked movie regarding the least co-actors - 2, Mrs. Hardy, and Postman Callahan. Brats is Number 1 as it had 0 co actors (as all other characters are played by Stan and Olie), and the third ranking movie is "Dirty Work", with only 2 (human) co-stars but one may have to count at least the chimpanzee (and up to 7 if you count the duck, the duckling, the fish and the younger fish too).
The rain was added with a sprinkler system, and the thunder is the stereotypical, early movie and theater thunder that's done by quickly flexing and or banging on a large and very very thin steel metal sheet, classical, absolutely classical.
Thankies for the facts ๐ค๐ค๐ค
My favourite.
Whoop ๐
Yes, HELPMATES is the most relentless L&H short for physical comedy. You should also try "OUR WIFE" and the feature "SAPS AT SEA".
Thankies ๐ฅฐ๐น
This is a classic. Feel bad for Ollie at the end xx

The Laurel-Hardy Murder Case (1930) and Oliver The Eighth (1934) are stand outs. ๐

25:53 "OH-HOO-HOO! That's all I've got! It's the only suit I've got!" Another splendid reaction. You're choosing short films from Laurel & Hardy's best period: the early 30's. Might I suggest "County Hospital" or "The Hoose-Gow"?
Thankies so much! ๐น๐ฅฐ
I've seen all of their shorts. I also know plenty of their trivia. I've even visited Hal Roach's (the man who produced their shorts, as well as The Little Rascals) grave, who lived to be 100. Cheers friends!
Awesome ๐คฉ
It's enough to make a man burst out crying! :)
Another great review! Please weekly!
More to come! Thankies ๐ฅฐ
Hello Dashy and Dad. The House looked like they partied after a SIMBA Concert. Really funny. I enjoyed it. Great timing and I am looking forward to checking out more from them.
Thanks so much๐ฅฐ๐น
Thanks for this video.
You're welcome ๐ฅฐ
Another great one, can't wait for the next one.
Did you know there's a cartoon show of Laurel and Hardy created by Hanna-Barbera?
Neither! Thankies ๐ฅฐ๐น
Hey guys another good reaction at the funny Laurel and Hardy they canโt seem to get nothing right lol ๐คฃ
Haha Thankies ๐ฅฐ๐น
Brilliant!
You two should watch "Night Owls" from Laurel & Hardy.
It's their best.
Cheers!
Thankies so much! ๐ฅฐ
I've loved L&H since i was about 4 in the mid 80s. An unusual recommendation to check out, Wrong Again, one of their early silent films.
Whoop ๐
I am glad you and your dad enjoyed it I mentioned before that you should see Helpmates next and you did, keep on showing your videos I always enjoyed it ๐๐โบ๏ธโบ๏ธ
Thanks again! ๐ฅฐ
The human race, if it survives, may travel to the furthest reaches of the solar system, colonise the galaxy and explore the limits of the known universe - but it will never create comedy quite as good as this.
Next up should be Towed In A Hole, where the duo buy an old fishing boat from Billy Gilbert (the professor in The Music Box) and attempt to renovate it. After that head for Them Thar Hills and its sequel Tit For Tat.
I don't know whether you've considered watching any of their silent films. I can heartily recommend The Finishing Touch, possibly a precursor to Busy Bodies, and Big Business, which not only features yet another stellar performance from James Finlayson but also manages to make a serious statement about human stupidity.
Don't forget to stock up on kitchen roll. You're going to need it.
Thankies so much! ๐น๐ฅฐ agreed!
Remember to watch Them Thar Hills (1934) before Tit for Tat (1935) because the latter is a direct sequel. ๐
Whoop ๐ Thankies
I enjoyed it too; certainly one of their best and I liked your responses. There are better sound copies of this movie without the static and background noise.
Thankies whoop ๐
