Best comedian of the 30's and 40's!!Period!!!I've seen them all-Charlie Chaplin,WC Fields,Marxes,Laurel &Hardy,Abbott and Costello,Charlie Chase,Edger Kennedy,Ritz Bros.,Olson and Johnson,so many more.For shear(get it?!?!) comedy laughs per minute,Curley is the undisputed champ!!!!(Wild Hyacinth,not withstanding!!)

Only the Three Stooges could get away with their hijinks they used in the courtroom.
A little fun fact: the scene where Curly is knocking out the jury you can see him limping, it's due to a real life childhood incident where he accidentally shot himself in the ankle and moe rushed to get him help
There was a surgery available to help him fully recover but Curly was to scared to go through the procedure.
hey, also when curly is kocking out the jury...the last guy he hit...far right is curly/moe/shemp's actual father.
He did have a limp but he exaggerated it a little for comedy.
Moe actually rushed Curley to the hospital himself. 😊
Some Larry trivia:
He was actually a very good violinist and musician in general. Whenever you see him at a piano or other musical instrument, that's actually him playing it.
As a small child Larry got his hand and arm badly burned by acid. The doctor said learning to play the violin would be good physical therapy.
And he was a boxer.

Disorder in the Court is my favorite short of theirs. Loved it since I was a kid (I’m only 20 btw) and still do. So glad people today are still finding these guys funny cause they’re timeless classics

Only their father, Solomon, is sitting there with the audience, Not their momma, Jenny. The two oldest Horwitz brothers, Irving and Jack , she got them interested in real estate.
I also heard that Shemp Howard(the stooge that replaced Curly after he passed) is also in the audience somewhere.

Curlys grandson. If he is your grandpa...he brought me a smile for decades even when I was entirely alone. He brought smiles to tens of millions...a legacy of gold.

This one is considered a film classic.
One episode that comes to mind is The Brideless Groom in which Shemp's uncle has died and left him $500,000, provided he marries within 24 hours.
This one is quintessential Shemp.

The release date of Oily to Bed Oily to Rise was October 6th 1939 I was born on October 6th so it's kind of a personal favorite. But I wasn't born in 1939 though
Hold that Lion is a special Shemp episode, it features Curly in a brief cameo as a sleeping passenger on a train. It is the only short that has all 3 Howard brothers (Moe, Curly and Shemp) onscreen with Larry Fine.
The following year Curly Howard filmed a brief scene as the restaurant's cook for the film Malice In The Palace, but it was not used in the final print of the film.
Curly died not long after its so sad he was only 40 something

Okay, I am 61 years old and still laughed like a maniac at this!! I watched them growing up, and I still think they're hilarious!! Reminds me when several years back channel surfing and stopping to watch them. My mom (she's not with us anymore) cam in and said, "How in the hell can you watch this? You're such a smart girl, I just don't understand how you can like this!!" Now whenever I watch them I still hear her saying that!! Who knows, now that she's in the afterlife, maybe she likes them now!!!

I saw my first Stooges 2-reeler when I was in 4th grade. I'm 75 now and still get a laugh out of their comedy routines.

True, but at 9:24 the shot shows Gail Tempest dancing in the center, while in the background Curly stands up, tucks the spoons in his pocket, and grabs his bass.

Your parents brought you up right, I am 56 now and grew up watching the stooges with my brothers. I bought a few DVDs and showed them to my kids and they grew up loving them. Pure simple good old comedy. I applaud you.
When Larry screamed in the court and threw his arms up. I remember my best friend and I we must have been like 13 years old we died laughing so hard his mother woke up got mad and chewed our asses out because it was like 3:00 in the morning! 😂😂
That 3 Stooges film is my favorite too, I laugh every time I see it. When Curly takes the stand, the whole bit is funny.

When Larry sneaks up on a piece of gum like its alive for no reason, almost rips off Moe's nose pulling it off of him, then throwing on the floor to stomp on it and start screaming like an absolute lunatic. Might be the funniest thing ive ever seen filmed. As a kid my dad and I used to laugh at that part until we were in tears trying not to pee ourselves. Decades later it still kills us both. Larry is by far the most underrated stooge.
This is still your highest rated video!!! Which proves that The Three Stooges still rule after almost 90-years. Everyone who ever starred in this is dead, but their comedy and jokes still live on. I just stumbled on your channel tonight and I’m going to watch as much as I can!!!! It’s always awesome to find a lady who loves the classics and can watch classic comedies!!!-May I recommend you watch “Grumpy Old Men”, 1993. An absolute classic!!! The Three Stooges were a real class act, they entertained their butts off during WW2 to keep everyone back home calm, sadly they eventually left us one by one, first Curly, then Shemp, then Curly Joe, then Larry, Moe left us long after the rest, i think he lived until his 80s.
while they werent the first to use slapstick, they were masters of the craft, even in the 21st century a Three Stooges movie was made as a tribute to our favorite schmucks, Will Sasso of SNL fame played Curly, i recommend giving it a watch sometime.
Curly Joe was not a Stooge he was the most annoying of the Replacements he had stuff put in his contract that would make it to where moe could not hit or poke him hence the start of the end of the Slapstick Kings

I watched them everyday after school. I must have seen each episode dozens of times over the years. I’m 62 years old and my older brother used to act out their antics on me and visa versa. Loved Curly.
When i was a kid in the 70’s, they would play 3 stooges shorts before the main movie in the theatre and it was always hilarious.
YES! I grew up with the three stooges all my life. It connected me, my father, and my grandfather, together. Although we are in very different places and believe different things, I will never forget that happiness.
My dad loved the Stooges. He'd laugh so hard, his army buddies would have to carry him out of the theater. :-)
I've pretty much seen every 3 stooges episodes, and this one is my favorite. Especially when the judge keeps telling curly to take off his hat.
I used to sneak and watch this every night on VHS when I was a kid. I couldn't go to sleep without watching it!

My favorite Shemp the first one in 3D is Spooks. I promise everyone will love it. You won’t stop laughing. The opening credits is unique.
Excellent! This one is in the public domain so it shows up on most of the budget Stooge collections and in most of the documentaries about them. "Brideless Groom" and "Sing a Song of Six Pants" are two great Shemp ones. Shemp was the only Stooge to have a successful solo career outside the group before rejoining them to replace Curly, acting with the likes of W.C. Fields, John Wayne, Randolph Scott, and Marlene Dietrich as well as starring in his own series of short comedies. He and Moe were Ted Healy's original Stooges in vaudeville. Then Larry joined the act. Shemp left to go out on his own (mainly because of Healy being such a jerk) and Moe's little brother Jerome replaced him as "Curly."
it actually was not so much Healy it was his Alcohol abuse that was why they left Healy and started there own thing he was also ripping them off with the money

The two Shemp episodes I'd recommend are Sing a Song of Six Pants and especially Brideless Groom.
Shemp of course was a Stooge before Curly but wanted to pursue a solo career so Curly took over. Then when Curly had a stroke, Shemp returned. You're right about Shemp's comedy being different than Curly's. However, the 3 Stooges with Curly was so much better than any other version of the 3 Stooges including with Joe Besser or Joe DeRita as well as the Ted Healy versions that there is really no comparison. Adding Curly basically made the 3 Stooges a classic troupe and I doubt they'd be well known today if he hadn't joined them.
There are many very funny 3 Stooges short, including Disorder in the Court. My personal fave is the 3 Stooges version of Pygmalion, namely Hoi Polloi, which is also arguably their most violent short. A couple others that come to mind are Punch Drunks and Spook Louder. Then there are their two shorts where they satirize the 3rd Reich, namely You Nazty Spy and Higher Than a Kite. Along these lines, there's also Charles Chaplin's The Great Dictator which was excellent.
My brother and I used to run home from school just to watch the 3 Stooges and have seen this episode a bunch of times. Absolutely love them.

This show literally had me on the floor in tears once.
I believe Moe put a makeshift kazoo in his mouth. It's like metal plumbers tape, you cut the first hole in half leave a solid hole next and then cut the next circle in half fold it over where the full circle is and you work your tongue and it makes a whistle or a kazoo. If you practice enough you can hit all the notes
Don't forget, on stage (and even their big screen debut) it was Larry, Moe and Shemp BEFORE Curly joined. Shemp had a fairly successful parallel career and had to be convinced to rejoin the team after Curly's stroke.
I love that bit when Larry pulls off that toupée with his Stradivarius's bow and mistakes it for a tarantula. Best part is Curly slamming the gavel into Moe's foot and Moe's scream of pain. 😆🤣

"Cuckoos on a Choo Choo" is a fantastic Shemp episode. It is totally bizarre, yet hilarious. It was also Larry Fine's personal favorite Stooge episode. I highly recommend it.

Curly loved his hair (he even had his hair during his Stooges debut). The one thing he hated most was having to shave it for the films. He grew it back soon after he was forced to retire because of his health.
Shemp was deathly afraid of automobiles.
He got his name from when the other guys miss heard him he Said i’m so girly they heard i’m so Curly and the name stuck after that
@@jolinkarlsson8569 pretty sure it was ted healy that said that and not curly. Which again dates back to his early days since healy didn't like curly with hair and told him he wouldn't work out (thus he shaved his head).

I love the Stooges! I own every single short they did for Columbia Pictures on DVD! there's a lot of good Shemp shorts, my top 5 favorite Shemp shorts are: "Hugs and Mugs", "Sing A Song of Six Pants", "Three Arabian Nuts", "Malice in the Palace", and "Mummies Dummies!" I highly recommend you check 'em out, they're great! I also recommend my top 5 favorite Curly shorts: "We Want Our Mummy", "Yes, We Have No Bonanza", "Boobs In Arms", "Restless Knights", and "Rockin' Thru The Rockies" those are also great! really warms my heart when I see people laughing at the Three Stooges comedy, just shows their brand of comedy will live on! Fun Fact: Moe, Shemp, and Curly are brothers (in case you didn't know) Larry is a close friend! the "original" original Three Stooges before Columbia was Moe, Larry, and Shemp part of their Vaudeville act with close friend Ted Healy! Shemp eventually left the act to strike out on his own, and then Moe convinced kid brother Jerome (Curly) to join the act! eventually the boys broke off from Ted to strike out on their own as well, they picked up a 24 year contract to Columbia Pictures to do comedy shorts and as they say, the rest is history! really enjoyed watching :)

I always liked the part where Larry removes the toupee from the man and each stooge perceives the hairpiece as something else. Larry thinks it's a tarantula, Curly thinks it's a field mouse, and Moe thinks it's a divot.
When my grandfather was alive... we would kick back and watch them!!! Our favorite stooge of all time was Curly and we couldn't stop laughing at him!!! #ThreeStooges4Life

@@kayreacts4763 How about the one where they're "Woman Haters," but Larry goes and gets married? The dialogue is unique because it's all done in verse with music playing throughout. I think it was the first short-subject they did.

a great one! Curly had a few like that - one where he goes nuts when he sees tassels and they have to rub the tassel under his chin to calm him down. And then another one where (I think) he freaks when he sees a mouse? and he keeps repeating "Moe! Larry! The cheese!" until they feed him cheese to calm down - and it's different cheeses every time! LOL
The 1st 3 stooges short is "woman haters" and probably the best. Check it out.

Disorder in the Court was in the public domain as early as the 1980's. You could get a 5 dollar VHS tape back in the day that included this short as well as three shemp episodes that were also in the public domain
I just thought of that. I think one of my relatives had a three stooges episodes on a VHS tape. Dang that's long time ago 😅
Don't know if anyone mentioned here but Moe and Curly's real Dad was in this audience and you could see him with the rest laughing along at his two sons and Larry.
Shemp favorite of mine which I think you might like too is the one with The Goon where they are being chased up and down the hallway which had me laughing in tears. "Who Done It" or "Shivering Sherlocks" both the best Moe, Larry and Shemp to me and I know you'll gonna love it.

I've just subscribed. I've 6 sons and two daughters. We watched the boys in our home from day one. My sons loved them. The girls, not so much. I can't tell you how much joy it brought me to see a young lass like you watching them and enjoying it so much ! You've a great laugh and a lovely smile. I'll be watching faithfully. 🍀🌹🍀 (One of my favorite scenes is where Larry looks at the wig and goes, "A tarantula!!")
I was born in 1965. I had an extremely sad and difficult childhood. I had an Hispanic Stepdad who abused me and my siblings physically and sexually and i was severely bullied from age 6 - 15. There were two things that gave me the ultimate happiness growing up throughout the 1970's. The Three Stooges and the rock group KISS! If it weren't for the sheer joy and happiness they brought me i really don't think I would be here today! 🥲

My favorite Stooge line of all time? It was a Curly episode, and the boys are going out hunting. Larry brings a bear trap though. Moe stops him and says, "What did you bring that thing for?" Larry says "You never can tell, we might meet up with a bear". Moe quickly responds with a slap to the face and says "Meet my bear hand"!
That was their 12th short "Ants in the Pantry". They were exterminators, and their boss told them to plant the pests in the house, and then offer their services.
@@ggrarl Yes, what a scam! Recently I bought the Rockford Files on blu-ray, and I'm enjoying it quite a bit just due to the scam factor. I didn't like the show much when it aired, but nowadays it is rather refreshing.
That show may be the greatest impersonator show of all time, perhaps only seconded by The Burns and Allen Show, where somebody always seemed to be posing as somebody else, usually because Gracie forced it on them.
I just love the chaos that creates, on trying to keep it concealed. It's just so damn funny, that once you make somebody pose as somebody else, when that actual person shows up, you then have to make them pose as somebody else yet again, and then the latest impersonation shows up, and you have to reassign them...... You just wonder where it will ever end. Just like with Rockford pretending to be of another profession. I recall one B&A plot where Gracie appears to be married to four or five guys🤣😂🤣.
@@charles2241 on TV Tropes they call that a Fawlty Towers plot, because Basil Fawlty (John Cleese) would lie about something, and then lie to keep up the lie, until it all came crashing down.
@@ggrarl I've only vaguely heard of that condition before, but of course Gracie was doing that long before it was diagnosed🤣. Yes, John was a master at it as well. Actually the comment I made a little further down on the page, about Mr Slip, was another great example of somebody not only pretending to be somebody else, but then forcing that character onto three other people, and beating them up as a result.

At 67 This is a walk down memory lane, Saturday morning was not complete without the Three Stooges during my childhood
The one where Shemp is gonna get married is so funny. I love this episode too. It's one of my favorites. My dad and I always would watch them and crack up and my mom would hear us in the living room and not understand what was so funny about the three stooges. I have good memories laughing with my dad with the three stooges :)
Respectfully, I wish to address everyone who is calling me out for noticing the stuntman in this short. It IS clearly a stuntman. He is much thinner than the real Curly and wearing an obvious head piece. The Stooges really did usually use stuntmen for the bigger stunts. Check it:

Mr Boyce is correct in one sense. But of the three, Jerome (Curly) used a stuntman the most (tho not often). The one who used them the least was Moses (Moe). He incurred by far the most on-set injuries. This is documented. I've both watched and studied the lives of Moses, Larry, Jerome and Samuel (Shemp) Horowitz beginning in 1963. And I'm going to send you some idears for the best shorts with Shemp in them. Love your channel.
