You forgot to mention that was the famous Ice Bowl. I have a ton of SIs and have every issue I ever wanted except that Ice Bowl issue and the '66 swimsuit issue. I'm waiting on my 1st ever submissions and am surprised that Ice Bowl issue got an 8.0 with that color breaking crease at the top. Grading might not be as tough as I thought! I have every OJ issue and all the books about the murders (Vincent Bugliosi's of Helter Skelter fame is the best). Totally agree OJ was a narcissistic sociopath, but that doesn't take away he was a generational talent... beautiful runner. My 1st OJ is gonna be waaay up there! I also have his rookie football card. Just went through my reader copy of Clemente's 1st. There's an article inside about Muhammad Ali getting sentenced to like 5 years for draft evasion. That's big news, does that get mentioned on the label? Love the historical embeds!
Jim, I just looked at the CGC census for that Clemente cover and at the top there's a spot that says "Key Comments". Are those what's written on the label? If so, there's no mention of Ali getting sentenced to 5 years, stripped of all his belts, 10k fine, and banned from boxing for 3 years for draft evasion inside. Hard to believe since that would'a been easily cover worthy. It was probably still at a time when writers/mags still respected athlete's personal lives. There's also a great article just inside the cover about a young Walter Ioose, SIs legendary photographer, who ALSO didn't get a mention on "Key Comments".
