    Trivia! Writer Jim Downey, who appears in this clip, also played the principal in that oft-shared scene in "Billy Madison" where he says "Everyone is now dumber..."

    Dave's repeated joke about starting the show back in the late 50s is so weird now that 39 years have passed since 1983 and only about 25 had passed from the late 50s to 1983. The late 50s was CENTURIES before 1983, but 1983 is just a few hours from 2022. Am I wrong?

      Yeah I know what you mean. And saying the late 50s in 1983 would be like saying the late 90s today which seems like not that long ago!
