    Accidentally, I slipped the SIM card ejector pin into the microphone hole instead of the correct one while trying to swap out my SIM card. Given that they're right next to each other, it's quite easy to mix them up. I was concerned about potentially damaging the microphone, so I turned to your video for guidance. From what I gathered, it seems like the pin might have just skimmed over the microphone component without causing any harm.Thank you!

    The repairability score of the s23 is why I ordered the s24. I was really hoping they’d continue with pull tab battery and they didn’t disappoint. Along with the 7 years of OS updates, the s24 line is looking to stick around for a while.

    Great video!
    On my s24 the microphone inner hole seems "offsetted" from the outer hole. Maybe I'm totally wrong since I'm looking at it with an external flash on it. Is this right?
    If yes, is this offset and/or L shape useful only for protecting the mic from accident and water/dust or also for better sound detection? Because it seems much mofe clearer than my s9 mic. But also here, maybe it's the sensor itself to do better job.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před 4 měsíci

      usually most devices will have the L shape offset to prevent accidental poking with sim ejector.

    thats super simple to repair. minor inconvenience are to replace the power and volume button the mainboard must be removed.
    one thing tha samsung should improve are aesthetic of the parts. all of those version dan identification print should be moved to the backside of the parts and invisible to outside. clear back version of the device would be awesome if those all prints are removed.

    Would it be possible for you to compare Vapor chambers of S23 series with S24 series (like S24 base with S23U,+,Base.) for better idea of roughly how much larger the new ones are.
    Also, if you can confirm the Haptic motor is the same for both S23 and S24 series.

    Is it necessary to glue the front camera when you install a new one?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před 4 měsíci +2

      If you want to prevent moisture and dust/debris from getting in and around the camera and phone, yup. You can use something like B-7000 glue but carefully apply a little amount around it from the back side as to not get it to leak to the front over the lens itself.

  • @josephk3593
    @josephk3593 Před 3 měsíci

    Thanks for the know how. But my question is: my phone screen cracked it is Galaxy S24 regular. If I need to replace it do I have to start from the back like you did or just heat up the front and take it a part.
    Thank you

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před 3 měsíci

      Most likely from the back, because even though it might be possible to do it just from the front, the chance of you not applying the screen down in the correct position for the cable to click into place behind the screen is not worth you rendering the screen useless by having to pry off the screen again to re apply and damaging it. It's just a better bet to take the back off, and disconnect the screen cable from the back, pry the screen off and apply the replacement and re connect the cable from the back again.

  • @AMABalaban

    How is the second microphone hole at the top just a ventilation hole, and the phone is said to be water resistant to a standard of 68?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před 4 měsíci +1

      That air vent hole is used for water proofing purposes. From what I understand and I could be wrong, it's used to release the internal air pressure. But I could be wrong, I just know they have said its an air vent hole for water proofing purposes.

    • @AMABalaban
      @AMABalaban Před 4 měsíci

      @@PBKreviews
      If it is a ventilation hole, water will enter the phone through it, and thus the phone will not be waterproof. this is what I meant

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před 4 měsíci +25

      Thanks. I understand it may seem so high by just looking at the overall number, but when you look at the break down its more understandable. Parts for example are very readily available for this phone, so that does deserve a 2 out of 2. Design is fairly clean and well laid out so repairs won't be complicated to do or parts to replace, so 1.5 there. Screen replacement even though you cant save a working screen, people would probably only be replacing bad screens so prying a damaged screen without worrying about care isn't hard. You just rip it out after taking the back cover off and disconnecting the screen cable from under the speaker assembly which isn't difficult. So I think a 1.5 is fair. All other parts in the phone are easy to replace too, so 2 there. Battery is also not difficult to replace which gets a 2 as well. How do you see it from your point of view?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před 2 měsíci +1

      There is a breakdown chart of the score, the timestamp for it is in the description. My scoring is based off my assessments and opinions, and might differ from others. No I am not paid by Samsung. Also think a bit about the screen disassembly you mentioned. If you are replacing the screen, what difference does it make if it gets damaged? Makes no difference, so you can just pry it off with some heat and not worry about it so it doesn't make it difficult. It's only difficult to save a working screen if you are making a video like me and don't want to damage a brand new screen. :) Not to mention they sell screen and frame combos as well so you can also chose not just easily replace it as one piece and not worry about it which makes it even easier. I haven't worked on a fairphone but maybe it scores better, one day I will see. Regardless my scoring chart breaks down each section and each section can score a maximum of 2 points.
