I think the "best Nightwish vocalist" argument has been eclipsed entirely at this point. This woman may well be one of the greatest female voices in metal/rock, let alone Nightwish. They struck gold with her.
They knew it when they called her in to replace Anette... It isnt that she was an unknown at that point. Nightwish had toured with After Forever.... Floor was known bot for talent and as a person.
When Floor walked onto that stage, she totally owned it! I love this woman! She is a metal goddess! And when she growls on 'Yours is an Empty Hope'...just EPIC!!!

I thought the same thing when watching Wakken 2013 - you watch her doing Ghost Love Score, and she has that entire crowd in the palm of her hand, chanting on her command… ye cats.
I had doubts when I saw that Stargazers and Sleeping Sun were on this setlist. I have been listening to NW since 2003. I adore Floor Jansen, but I was extremely trepidatious about hearing her renditions of those NW classics. She BLEW AWAY my expectations, and absolutely CRUSHED those songs with her mighty, operatic pipes! I literally had tears streaming from my eyes with pure joy when I heard those songs back to back. Floor is absolutely UNREAL, and has to be one of the most versatile vocalists on the planet today! Thank God she is with Nightwish today! :D \m/

Absolutly right! Nightwish with Tarja was an interessesting experiment to bring innovation to rock and heavy metal. But if a hand has five fingers, than Tarja was the forefinger - not less, but not more. Anette was nothing but desperation (otherwise Nightwish had NO female voice): Anette simply has a pop voice - with no width and craft. FLOOR is the full hand - and really completing Nightwish.
I wonder if the arrangements were Tomas' or it was Floor interpretation, but when I heard Stargazers I thought they were giving a shout of respect to Tarja. Floor has an incredible array and her interpretations of the songs use several styles like musical theater, ballad, opera, heavy metal growl, falsettos, while Tarja basically used only an operatic style. I couldn't help noticing that after making a great emphasis that the next song was an old classic, she sang Stargazers exclusively with an operatic style. I believe hat was a homage to Tarja.

That's so hard to say cause over at epica they have some truely astounding stuff, not sure if it's a team effort of mark Jansen composes it himself but if that's the case that could be a super tough call. I would definitely say tuomas has brought so much more magic into the world, but Mark is helping to redefine what it means to be human and centiant being in this universe. @.@
He's too great for his own good at being a Lyricist. He's written some of my favorite lyrics ever. Not to mention his amazing talent at composing musical scores. Marco is also an amazing composer. His bass lines cut through the music so well. Nightwish has always had a lot going for them.
after a long long break from Nightwish. I have recently rediscovered them with floor. and well. she is perfect for what Nightwish had always been to me. she hits every notch on the epic metal woman checklist! I hope she is here to stay for a long time coming.
At the show in London, ON I was standing right 'under' or 'by' where Toumas was stationed, and there were so many times in the show when he got a look on his face that said 'We made the right choice this time' when Floor hit a high note, or even in the growls of Yours is an Empty Hope. I even caught a moment after Stargazers, where Marco came over and just shook his head and said 'she's unreal.' and Toumas smiled and nodded.
@@winkuli Not an unreasonable assumption...but English is so common in the Scandinavian countries, that when one falls into speaking it (remember, this show was in London), conversing in it becomes reflexive. When I was spending time in Germany I often found myself thinking in German. Besides, English is amazingly compact. I'm not sure what the Finnish equivalent of "she's unreal" might be, or if it requires more words to get the same feeling.
I don't like metal music, but a few month's ago i hear Nightwish, and i love the music they make. sorry for my english but i am Dutch. Floor is a amazing artist and the stage performance is really great. I never hear a metal band like this. Nightwish army is going be bigger and bigger all over the world.
That's how it started for me too. That's when I discovered the video for 'The Islander' and a few weeks later I was able to sing along to the whole album. But Nightwish also gave me a different perspective on metal. I almost only listen to metal these days. Should you ever appreciate the growls then I would like to recommend Dimmu Borgir. Start with 'The mourning palace', live from Wacken.

One of my best friends at the time was metal head and heard some more songs and liked it so slowly i started listening to metal, especially symphonic and power. Meanwhile i discovered many more great bands but Nightwish remained one of my favourites

I think I would cry rivers if I was at this concert. I mean Ghost Love Score is enough to make me cry already but I would've just lost my shit if I was there. The singing, the fireworks and the epicness; it's all too much to deal with at once.
Damn..getting emotional sometimes when i see or read that people fall in love with Nightwish...Been with them from the start and i feel blessed that they are still around, When Tarja got fired i was so sad cause i thought it would be the end of Nightwish, luckily not. I loved Tarja's voice and also Anette contributed a lot of good songs but with Floor (Also Dutch lol) they hit the jackpot!
Same here. I first discovered them in the late 90s when they had put a few free samples on MP3.com to get their name out. Finally got to see them live last year! Drove 3 hours to get there, but it was well worth it!
can"t believe I'm new to Nightwish!....have gone "bonkers" since, having to listen to them everyday at some point since; live performances are the best....incredible visual experiences...now on bucket list to see next tour...will go wherever I must to experience them for myself.....thank you Nightwish for the emotional journey!
Just like their last song says, This Venue was the Greatest Show on Earth. I am blessed to have been able to see Floor perform live and Anytime they come back to the U.S., I will be seeing them again and again. I hope to one day be able to see them in Finland so I can see a show of this caliber and quality!!
I am 70 years old ..LOVE THE BAND. discovered them 2017 looking for Phantom of the Opera..Blew me away. Saw you tube from Tarja to Anette now Floor. Floor hits me in the gut . Trumps best composer..listen to the songs by a symphony. Unreal. Metal or symphonic the some of the best you will ever here.

I only discovered this band a few months ago (thanks youtube) and since that time I have found myself watching them a lot. The Wacken 2013 concert initially blew my mind, but this is such a great concert too. Watching it for the first time, I wanted to comment on the many emotions I felt, but waited, as the show was to good to miss. Ms. Jensen, you are such a great vocalist. I love to watch you perform and your singing often brings me to tears. Gentlemen, you all looked so happy, I guess playing at home is as good as it gets. I know you guys love general admission shows, but help this old dood out and next time your in So Cal, please play at the Greek, so my lazy ass can get a balcony seat to enjoy your show, while I drink red wine to your health and happiness. To me, they were all good in different ways. So it was relatively easy for me to adjust. I became a fan just before Tarja left, so I was sad to see her leave. However Anette proved herself quickly on the two studio albums she sang on. Loved her work as well. Floor took me the longest to adjust to, but now I'm a fan of hers as well. I don't think this band could survive if Marco left, however. I've become a massive fan of his work in this band.
I have been a Floor fan since After Forever... I became a NIGHTWISH follower when Floor became the vocalist - Before this, Nightwish was something I listened to on occasion, but anyone who really believes Tarja is better for Nightwish than Floor - She had her run and blew it. On top of it, all head voice...
Floor is magnificent vocalist as always, but don't forget about Marco. The Islander was beautiful! And his vocal part in Elan was unbelievable (literally, I though that is more people singing the "aaaaa" part in chorus, and it was just him)

But for example 39:36, 39:44, 41:04 (wider shot), etc, you can clearly see he is singing the words with Floor. Pure magic. There is no better band playing live shows anywhere, I firmly believe. Tuomas is living his dream right in front of all of us, God Bless him, and the journey of musical genius he has shared with us.
I am 53 years old and have been listening to music since I was 16 years old. I appreciate many genres but my favorites are 70's rock, progressive and hard rock and heavy metal. Ever since I met Nightwish I have been literally struck by it. Long live FLOOR and Nightwish. W Italy
The Nightwish band members are the real deal. They all are masters of their trade. Best of the best. We miss Jukka but very thankful for Kai he is doing great! Our whole family loves Nightwish.
This has to be the greatest Nightwish performance I have ever seen! Every musician was spot on perfect and Floor's voice was in perfect register. Sshe commanded every song and never for one second was off key. She gives the Nightwish songs a whole new life. I loved that they played mostly newer material. I think the two Annette albums are some of Nightwish's best work and Floor takes the Annette songs to a whole new level. I can't imagine any better singer for the new Nightwish.
What I love most about Nightwish videos is the support among members... If you watch you will see it in almost any video... Gestures, looks, or actual touch - There is a clear connection among all of the present members of Nightwish.
I like Nightwish really well. Can listen to them for a while. But, I could listen to Flor sing, or hum, chant, for a very long while. What a beautiful voice. Thankyou Nightwish.
Have seen many cuts from this concert over the past year or two. First time viewing the full concert. How they have the stamina to perform at that level for almost two hours I can't imagine. Bless everyone in this band!! Can't wait until they create more of these concert moments. One thing I've never understood is why some bands from countries outside of the United States and other countries with English as their native language write their song lyrics in English rather than their own native language. I don't have a problem with it. I've just wondered why they do that.
If you think about how life emerged from the LUCA (last universal common ancestor). An organism only half alive, and somehow it managed to replicate. And now we are sitting in front of our computers and watch a Nightwish concert about this exact event. Can it really be pure chance that life developed so far. And is it possible that it only happened on our planet? Hard to believe. Maybe nature will always find a way to develop.

I love this band. I saw them live last tour in Partille Arena. You must see them live. I liked them before but with Floor the band is complete. Now they are amazing. I can watch live clips with Nightwish all day and still get goosebumps.
I would cry if I had the chance to see these guys live. Love this band have for so long and floors battle with and eventual overcoming of her burnout gives me so much life and inspiration. Being afraid of doing something your best at is seriously dark and depressing.

Floor's abilities surpass rock and metal. She is undoubtedly the best vocalist I've ever heard in any genre ever.

Damn..getting emotional sometimes when i see or read that people fall in love with Nightwish...Been with them from the start and i feel blessed that they are still around, When Tarja got fired i was so sad cause i thought it would be the end of Nightwish, luckily not. I loved Tarja's voice and also Anette contributed a lot of good songs but with Floor (Also Dutch lol) they hit the jackpot!
Same here. I first discovered them in the late 90s when they had put a few free samples on MP3.com to get their name out. Finally got to see them live last year! Drove 3 hours to get there, but it was well worth it!
After one hour and twenty-six minutes, how does she still do that helicopter thing??? Amazing!

I am a 63 years old man and i see so much bands on stage, but i never see a band with so much fun together on stage like Nightwish.
can"t believe I'm new to Nightwish!....have gone "bonkers" since, having to listen to them everyday at some point since; live performances are the best....incredible visual experiences...now on bucket list to see next tour...will go wherever I must to experience them for myself.....thank you Nightwish for the emotional journey!
Just like their last song says, This Venue was the Greatest Show on Earth. I am blessed to have been able to see Floor perform live and Anytime they come back to the U.S., I will be seeing them again and again. I hope to one day be able to see them in Finland so I can see a show of this caliber and quality!!

..LOVE THE BAND. discovered them 2017 looking for Phantom of the Opera..Blew me away. Saw you tube from Tarja to Anette now Floor. Floor hits me in the gut . Trumps best composer..listen to the songs by a symphony. Unreal. Metal or symphonic the some of the best you will ever here.

Her first versions of Sleeping Sun were edgy, but this one is amazing.

At 1:24 Floor Jansen almost got me levitating off my chair - what an amazing voice she has !! I'm in complete awe.
I am so fucking impressed! Watching you all for ten years and in my eyes, one if the wonders of the world. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this, fully engaged to the hard work sweating out of each of you as if I were there! Truly a marvel.
I only discovered this band a few months ago (thanks youtube) and since that time I have found myself watching them a lot. The Wacken 2013 concert initially blew my mind, but this is such a great concert too. Watching it for the first time, I wanted to comment on the many emotions I felt, but waited, as the show was to good to miss.
Ms. Jensen, you are such a great vocalist. I love to watch you perform and your singing often brings me to tears. Gentlemen, you all looked so happy, I guess playing at home is as good as it gets. I know you guys love general admission shows, but help this old dood out and next time your in So Cal, please play at the Greek, so my lazy ass can get a balcony seat to enjoy your show, while I drink red wine to your health and happiness. I have a fine bottle I am saving for you. Thanks for the outstanding show.

I never realized until I discovered Nightwish, that Freya was a 6 foot Dutch Woman, Odin plays Keys, Thor plays Bass, Loki plays lead Guitar and Tyr on Drums and Heimdal plays the Pipes

I thought Anne (the singer before Floor) was awesome.
To me, they were all good in different ways. So it was relatively easy for me to adjust. I became a fan just before Tarja left, so I was sad to see her leave. However Anette proved herself quickly on the two studio albums she sang on. Loved her work as well. Floor took me the longest to adjust to, but now I'm a fan of hers as well. I don't think this band could survive if Marco left, however. I've become a massive fan of his work in this band.

I have been a Floor fan since After Forever... I became a NIGHTWISH follower when Floor became the vocalist - Before this, Nightwish was something I listened to on occasion, but anyone who really believes Tarja is better for Nightwish than Floor - She had her run and blew it. On top of it, all head voice...
And Marco holds the audience spellbound with poetry put to music. Another very nice piece.
Floor is magnificent vocalist as always, but don't forget about Marco. The Islander was beautiful! And his vocal part in Elan was unbelievable (literally, I though that is more people singing the "aaaaa" part in chorus, and it was just him)
It was Marco and Troy doing the 'aaaaahs' in Elan. Troy is now the third lead singer in the band among his many other talents.
@@geraldgetskow3420 Yes and no. Troy is singing with them as well and he is doing a great job, I never doubted that. But for example 39:36, 39:44, 41:04 (wider shot), etc, you can clearly see he is singing the words with Floor.
But, it never hurts to watch this concert again :) so in a way, I am thankful for your reply :)

Pure magic. There is no better band playing live shows anywhere, I firmly believe. Tuomas is living his dream right in front of all of us, God Bless him, and the journey of musical genius he has shared with us.
I am 53 years old and have been listening to music since I was 16 years old. I appreciate many genres but my favorites are 70's rock, progressive and hard rock and heavy metal. Ever since I met Nightwish I have been literally struck by it. Long live FLOOR and Nightwish.

The Nightwish band members are the real deal. They all are masters of their trade. Best of the best. We miss Jukka but very thankful for Kai he is doing great! Our whole family loves Nightwish.

This has to be the greatest Nightwish performance I have ever seen! Every musician was spot on perfect and Floor's voice was in perfect register. Sshe commanded every song and never for one second was off key. She gives the Nightwish songs a whole new life. I loved that they played mostly newer material. I think the two Annette albums are some of Nightwish's best work and Floor takes the Annette songs to a whole new level. I can't imagine any better singer for the new Nightwish.
She gave birth in March of that same year, I believe. I'd imagine that took it's toll. I expect she'll hit that note again perfectly come next tour.
@@DarkSeraphim1 No, she gave birth almost 2 years later. This concert was durign the summer of 2015, she gave birth to her daughter in 2017
I like that they didn't remaster the audio for the DVD. There's imperfections and I appreciate hearing them.

What I love most about Nightwish videos is the support among members... If you watch you will see it in almost any video... Gestures, looks, or actual touch - There is a clear connection among all of the present members of Nightwish.

Have seen many cuts from this concert over the past year or two. First time viewing the full concert. How they have the stamina to perform at that level for almost two hours I can't imagine. Bless everyone in this band!! Can't wait until they create more of these concert moments. One thing I've never understood is why some bands from countries outside of the United States and other countries with English as their native language write their song lyrics in English rather than their own native language. I don't have a problem with it. I've just wondered why they do that.

If you think about how life emerged from the LUCA (last universal common ancestor). An organism only half alive, and somehow it managed to replicate. And now we are sitting in front of our computers and watch a Nightwish concert about this exact event. Can it really be pure chance that life developed so far. And is it possible that it only happened on our planet? Hard to believe. Maybe nature will always find a way to develop.
Living a Nightwish concert is unreal, I need to see them live again 😁

I love this band. I saw them live last tour in Partille Arena. You must see them live. I liked them before but with Floor the band is complete. Now they are amazing. I can watch live clips with Nightwish all day and still get goosebumps.

I would cry if I had the chance to see these guys live. Love this band have for so long and floors battle with and eventual overcoming of her burnout gives me so much life and inspiration. Being afraid of doing something your best at is seriously dark and depressing.
