  • One of the highlights of being a part of the Duke University community is interacting with distinguished guests. Here undergraduate Axelle Miel joins Suher Adi MPP'24 to share their own stories, and compare notes on the oppportunity of a lifetime: connecting with Nobel Peace Prize laureate Maria Ressa at the Sanford School.
Maria Ressa is Filipino-American journalist who co-founded Rappler, a digital media company that has exposed the abuses of power, corruption, and violence under President Rodrigo Duterte's regime. She has also documented the weaponization of social media and its impact on public discourse and human rights.
This lecture was a part of the DeWitt Wallace Center for Media and Democracy's 50th Anniversary, with generous support from the David. M Rubenstein Distinguished Lecture Series. Event partners for this lecture include the DeWitt Wallace Center for Media and Democracy, Sanford School of Public Policy, and American Grand Strategy and Duke Centennial.
