    the guy hit in the last clip was Ondřej Kratěna, he suffered a concussion, recovered and played for a few more seasons. David Štich, the player that hit him, was suspended for 5 games and expressed regret over what he did.

      Reminds me of an NHL hit, the New York Islanders' Trevor Gillies on Pittsburgh's Eric Tangradi; the difference is, Gillies began punching Tangradi as he was going down, and Gillies didn't leave even after having been taken off the ice, instead shooting his mouth off at Tangradi as the latter was receiving medical attention. He got nine games for that.

    The hit at 1:29 would never have been called in today's SHL. This happened before the swedish ice hockey federation amended the checking to the head rule to not penalize such hits. However he should still get ejected, as the hit at 1:36 is a clear checking to the head penalty, this hit actually resulted in a three game suspension.

      facts

    • @curtisconaway8554
      @curtisconaway8554 Před 3 lety

      Kinda mind boggling that 99% of these should not have been a match penalty in real hockey. Most of these were due to the player getting injured, putting himself in a dangerous position. I could see a penalty if the hitting player left his feet, or raised into the hit into the head, or even followed through on the hit (last 2 the hitting player didn't really follow through). Instead, most of these were only dangerous because the player trying to play the puck put himself in that position by taking a shot and lowering his head, or turning at the last moment.
      Some are obviously a penalty, like the slashes to the back of the legs. Also, it's a disgrace when hockey players act like soccer players and stay on the ice like they are dead until the whistle blows and they know a penalty has been called... then getting up like it's no issue.
      The sport I love has fallen so far. When I grew up playing, I was TAUGHT to go into the corner for a puck while still expecting to be killed. If you expect to be killed, then you will put yourself in a position to not be killed.

    • @NatureFavor
      @NatureFavor Před 3 lety +2

      @@curtisconaway8554 clip 1. misconduct for either slashing or unsportsmanlike penalty, either one works. clip 2. pretty fucking perfect example of a flying elbow, nothing to discuss at all, 100% a match penalty. Clip 3. Upward motion, ergo charging, injured player on the play wich is automatically a game misconduct/match penalty (charging/boarding injury = go shower). Clip 4. Same as clip 3, upward motion, elbow to the head. Checking to the head or charging major, take your pick. Clip 5. Spearing, a spearing that hits is an automatic game misconduct, nothing to discuss. Clip 6. Player has no possibility to protect himself, guy comes in as the 3rd guy and targets the head. Checking to the head or charging or boarding major, take your pick (notice that even the coach didn't argue?). Clip 7. Biggest fucking interference of the century, the hit itself is fairly clean, but he doesn't even attempt to play the puck. Wich makes it fall under intent to injure, pretty solid Match penalty. Clip 8. Yeah, no fucking contact with anything else than the head, you wanna try and argue that? Incoming concussion and a few games suspension. Clip 9. Numbers numbers numbers, all the way. The player doesn't turn around to try and get a penalty, he turns around and chases the puck, as he should. The player dealing the hit has to let him go here. Boarding all day long, no questions asked. Clip 10. Exactly the same as clip 9, numbers all the way and he shoots upwards. Would have given him a 5+game without even blinking, plus its an injury so automatic game since it's a boarding penalty. Seriously, if you think that these aren't solid ass match penalties, you should really consider reading the rulebook...

    • @RangersFan94
      @RangersFan94 Před 3 lety +1

      They're not "obvious" lmao 99% of these wouldn't even be penalties 15 years ago. These days anyone can draw a match penalty by putting their head down intentionally at the last second so that the checker can't react and makes head contact. It's dumb and literally happened today - Braden Schneider got 5 + a game because some 5'7 German kid put his head down while getting stood up at the blue line by a 6'2 220lb D-man. It's the pussification of hockey by turning it into football (soccer), where drawing calls is more important than outworking the opponent...
