I see this as a ref being like “You started it, it stopped, and you restarted it as well, so yeah. Get out”. This game is over, so let’s get it over with. Even the players aren’t arguing. The players fully understand why, and I don’t disagree. This is disallowing it to get out of hand before somebody gets hit from behind or to the head

Violence kind of is but NHL is way more violent than it should. Think about how many tackles to the head happen. Fights are a little extra spice but often it gets out if hand.

10 players getting 10 minutes each? That's 100 minutes of penalties off one play. That's nuts, but what's even more insane is it's not even close to a record. The Pens-Islanders brawl in 2011 had 300-ish minutes and that's still 100 short of the record.

@@RajSharma14 Exactly lol, barely over a decade and fighting stats are down over 50%. This was all a scrum, pushing and shoving. Roughing minors and game misconducts for the sake of further potential penalties occurring and or altercations. In 2011 this would have been a line brawl at the least. The game has changed a lot due to concussion and CTE concerns.
There also an NBA brawl between the Nuggets and Knicks with the Same outcome.

The ref was too pissed at everyone to laugh. Honestly you could hear it in his voice, he was ticked about the fight.
*This was the second NHL game I ever watched.* I met up with a mate of mine in New York. He's from Florida so I watched the Panthers Blue Jackets game with him and got hooked after seeing the comeback and OT goal. A couple days later I watched this one and wow, Senators Panthers was one hell of a game to watch! Learned a lot about hockey technical rules from offsides to penalties too. Now I can't stop. Everything from historical classics to Jay Onrait Officer Bobrovsky clips! 😭 He has made me an 'honourary' Florida Panthers fan. 😌

Last time I heard a ref penalize everybody on the ice was when I was working at a local rink in NC and a beer league game turned into a bench clearer. Everybody on the ice was given a game for fighting and the game was forfeited. The refs actually asked me to walk with them to their cars because they were scared of the angry, buzzed hockey players lol. Good times those 11 PM beer league nights
Everytime these teams play with Matthew and Brady, it is wild. I love it. I was wishing the sens had kastelic after macewan got tossed early in the 3rd, but I still knew it would go down with Brady. I just wish the sens would have also beaten up some on the scoreboard too. Would have made for a great game

Forget 90's, we had line brawls back in like 2011-2012, tons of goalie fights. League has changed a lot in a short period of time in regards to fighting and such.

No; it's very unlikely to happen and they'll fit more people in the box if necessary lol with max of 15 so they have 3 on 3 plus goalies
No! This was a case where the players kept roughing each other in a series that is already chippy a few times. The refs had enough and just sent everyone on the ice to the locker room. Otherwise the officials would have lost control of the game.
