    Jared’s mom here!
    Thanks for an incredible interview gary
    Jared has not stopped moving since he was born and he shot out like a space shuttle taking off. Never a doubt or a dull moment with him. Runners are such a gift and positive influence in the world.

      Hi Jared's mom 😊 this comment makes my day, so great to hear from you, and Jared tells me you're still going strong yourself! Hopefully we all get to share dinner together again sometime soon 😊

    Jared is the man. What an athlete. I don't think people realize the difficulty of what he has accomplished. Thank you for the interview.

    I've become obsessed with the Barkley videos after watching Jasmine finish. Prior to seeing Jasmine finish I never knew of Barkley. Jared is a legend. He is so humble.

    Until two weeks ago, I had barely heard of Gary Robbins, but reading about this year’s Barkley marathons, I am right into it now. Great interviews!

    Thanks so much for cranking out these interviews fast. I couldn't have clicked on the new video any faster. I've been bingeing on interviews with Barkley finishers in the past few days and enjoyed many of them, but nothing like interviews from a true insider, i.e. you. All of you -- host and interviewees -- are not only top notch athletes, you are also top notch human beings. Oh... now I can't wait to hear your interview with Jasmin!

    * Jasmin is English, she currently works in Edinburgh (Scotland) and lives just outside. It's a small point but Scottish friends would be oh-so-quick to point out the reverse had that been the case :).

    This was another wonderful interview, Jared's stories about Utah brought back lots of memories!
    I lived in Utah Valley (Spanish Fork, just south of Provo) in 1991-92, and didn't really think about air pollution, but when we drove over the point of the mountain into SLC basin on a still winter day, the smog could be really obvious. We didn't really worry since we were going up to Alta/Snowbird/Solitude to go skiing, and there the air was always great.
    Just before returning to Norway in July/Aug 1992 I ran/speed-hiked up to Mt Timpanogos with a local guy who said it was well worth it! It seemed like many would hike up the day before to watch the sunrise.
    Afair, we used about 2 hours up and the first guy we meet at the summit immediately wants to know: "How long did you take?". We responded and then he felt he had to let us know how badly we had done: "My wife ran almost twice as fast". Well, good for her! 🙂
    I can easily see how you could gather a _lot_ of vert using any of the paths that starts along the range: Starting at 15-1600 m and ending (maybe even well) above 3000 m.

    I think Laz said what he did about women and Barkley for one reason. He knew that it would draw out the one that would succeed in doing it. He didn’t care what others perceived those words as because he desperately, deep down wanted a female finisher.

    • @NUS01
      @NUS01 Před 2 měsíci

      exactly he created a race where no one would ever finish 5 laps and it took about 8 years for someone to prove him wrong. he keeps changing and pushing the boundaries where its impossible and no one will ever complete this. Why. So he can watch superhuman achievements doing the impossible . why did he say women will never finish it because he wanted to see one prove him wrong and to be there to witness it.

    Another great interview, thank you @Gary Robbins! Always interesting to hear from Jared, so much of what he does flies under the social media radar (like RUFA, which Santiago, Chili could really get behind as their air quality sitting between the Pacific and the high Andes is worse than LA!). Also, Gary, I think you need to take Jared on your Chilliwack 100 route ;-)

This isn’t the first time your video made me cry (the first was watching when you broke your foot in Hawaii); reading Jared’s IG post got me all teary eyed. I read the original but it still got me. 🥹 Thank you so much for this! Much love to you, Linda and Reed! ❤️❤️
