I genuinely have so much love and appreciation for Jake. To me he seems like what lawyers were intended to be. He understands it, the how and why, but also applies general fairness and reason, with a sprinkling of justice (which, as you may know, you do not find in law). Just all round top bloke. Also helps that he is traditionally manly AF but also seems to bereft of any toxic masculinity ❤
Also the fact that he loves and protects all of our nerdy boys and gals

You're talking about the overreach of copyright claims... Years ago, I worked on a music video TV show. We used to upload outtakes and cut scenes from our interviews on CZcams. We did one where the band was telling the story behind one of their songs and what inspired them to write it. The record label filed a claim against us for using the song. The thing was, we never actually used the song. There was no music in the video whatsoever, just the raw interview. It was ridiculous.
I have a suspicion that onewheel is not that safe with that tiny wide tire and weak motor if the main proponent of it keeps breaking his bones on it.
The case where the lawyers used ChatGPT was even worse. Emily D. Baker (a District Attorney) did a read through and discussion of their filing appealing to the judge for no sanctions. They used it because they didn't have access to the case law services (I can't remember exactly what their reasoning was), and they brought their kids into the discussion by saying they learned of ChatGPT through them. I seem to remember that after the judge initially questioned them about their citations, they went back to ChatGPT to verify the case law it gave, which it did - and they went back to the judge saying they're real! It was a mess! 😆
There's another case where someone's trying to sue OpenAI for defamation because ChatGPT created a fictitious case about them (I think it was claiming embezzlement or something). When asked, it even generated the "filing", complete with a correctly formatted case number. I think people are forgetting the "artificial" in "Artificial Intelligence". Haha!
The CZcams copyright system should have a third-party intervene if a claim is disputed. I think it's unfair and unjust that the claimer can reject a dispute, meanwhile the video's ad revenue is thrown into limbo. I think it's ridiculous that 100% of the ad revenue can be claimed due to a small percent of the content being at issue. I remember Jake's breakdown a few years back discussing why it's unfair, and I completely agree.
My vote for the tattoo is Wren falling off the one wheel.

Question on the Universal video: Why not edit out the music and upload as a new video, while removing the original? I understand that you would lose the original views, but I feel like your audience would gladly watch the new version if they knew Universal was taking the money from the previous one.
I would love some insight on why uploading a new version is bad for Corridor.

Wait after your second appeal gets rejected, the copyright claimant has to file a DMCA takedown request, which gets you a copyright strike, but you could still file a counter notification to remove the strike, right? And at that point, isn't it the copyright claimant who has to sue you, not the other way around? Obviously that all puts you at a lot more risk, so it's safer to just take it down, which sucks, but it's not quite accurate to say that the video uploader would have to sue the copyright claimant; it's the other way around.

Because in 2007 Viacom sued Google for harboring piracy and absolutely would have won that case. As settlement, google created the system you're rightfully lambasting explicitly to give big copyright holders an epic edge over everyone else.
The alternative is youtube doesn't exist. That's why it has to be like this. No content host on the level of youtube actually has gone through the system to actually defend fair use or small creator copyright. Everyone that has comes out with settlements that get Content ID in their system. The ones that dont just shut down. Grooveshark didnt play that game, got shut down. Soundcloud played that game, has content ID and access to digital publishing networks.
The law is still shaped the way that says if someone like Viacom wants to sue Google, they'll win. They're using that leverage to force an uneven playing field.
The laws need to update enough to handle it so they're forced to play by the same rules. Until then, the rules are what they say they are or things like CZcams don't exist.
