Same, but they made me go to Home Depot for some reason. Federal enforcement agencies are getting out of hand. The IRS wanted amazon gift cards to repay my back taxes.

Banker here, here's a happy little story about this type of scam (hopefully it makes y'all smile): One time a kind older lady came in to make a large cash withdrawal. I asked some questions and turns out she was told to send $10k to "free her grandson." It was great!!! First, I got to hear the grandson go, "Noooo! Grandma, it's a scam! Don't do it!" Then, the scammers called her phone and I got to tell them to go fly a kite. scammers = gaslighters with a motive
what this indicates to me personally is that their usual victims definitely have some form of dementia of Alzheimer's, maybe an early stage. my grandfather passed from dementia about 2 years ago now, and they begin to forget things and get confused so often that even the smallest thing can set them off into an "episode" of sorts, like their car being parked in a different position than they remember it being 20 years ago. if these scammers said "your wife in your home right now is a different person, its not your wife" it could 100% absolutely cause someone with early memory problems to become confused and freak the fuck out. it really is unbearably disgusting to see how these bottom feeders usually get their money

The whole bit about "your wife isn't your wife" is actually incredibly manipulative. Obviously, there are elderly folks with deteriorating memory, and with that can come severe paranoia. This is making me realize that most of their usual victims probably have some form of dementia and can't follow details like this.
Of course, Alzheimer’s and dementia patients are their prime targets. They’re prime targets not only because they can’t remember or follow stories/details; but mainly because there is a high level of embarrassment that comes with older people’s with dementia inability to remember things so, instead of embarrassing themselves, they pretend they know exactly what you are talking about and that they remember everything. This makes it easy to make them go along with anything you say regardless of how little sense it makes. I have multiple grandparents with dementia and they often insist that they remember things that they clearly don’t just to avoid embarrassment. My grandpa has been scammed out of 10s of thousands of dollars in the last few months and we’ve had to resort to only allowing him access to money in the form of, ironically, prepaid visa gift cards. He has no access to credit cards, debit cards, checks, anything with any connection to a bank account. It’s sad, but you have to protect them from themselves sometimes
they do, that's why the specifically target the elderly. They are more likely to believe and not notice the details
You are, tragically, correct.
I deal with money transfers as part of my job, and part of that job is stopping people from being scammed. The vast majority of would-be victims are elderly people who are confused as to how the whole money transfer process even works as a concept, let alone why they're being made to perform the specific transfer in question. They just want to help their "grandkid" and trust that everything is legit.
Few things in this world are as despicable as targeting the elderly like that.
@@stormbornapostle5188 Immigrants too. I have family in law that have fallen for multiple scams. She fled Iran as kids and grew up in Pakistan. Okay. All jokes aside. They decide to claim that they've taken his grandson? Sure. If the grandson was in jail, he wouldn't be able to ruin the scheme. If they handle the situation well enough, they could maybe use fear to pull it off. Yessss that took me out
@@unchargedpickles6372 even the most hardened criminals out there talk respectfully to their grandparents and would fear that universal chancla 🩴 to the head if they didn’t behave with respect around them 🤣
"We are the FTC, we have the power. We make one call and things change". But we still need 4 Target gift cards from you. 🤣
Didn't realize the FTC funding was so bad they were desperate for target gift cards...
Alsooooo the fact that you only need 4 gift cards to get out of prison
😅🤣😂
I would been like ' HERE HE'S ALL YOURS!!!!!!! '
You’re a comedic genius! Fantastic improv. Loves your characters and quick-wit!
Thank you for doing this. These criminals are despicable. I can’t imagine how much they can scare people.
They tried this one on my grandparents a couple years back. I woke up to a phone call from my grandmother, panicked, making sure I wasn’t in prison, and my grandfather wanted me to know I could always count on him if I was in trouble. He was in tears. I have never been angrier in my life. That someone would try to take advantage of my grandparents was too much. It does my heart good to see scammers face some comeuppance. Thanks Kitboga :)
Also happened to my grandmother in law. She has all granddaughters, so I guess she assumed it was an inlaw lol and she called my mother in law. Who called my mother, who kicked my door in with her foot while I was sound asleep in bed with wife and baby. So much panic over nothing
my grandma actually got taken by this - callers said they they had my little brother in jail, and told her not to tell anyone, and she rushed to send them a money order. when they tried calling AGAIN to get more money, fortunately my sister happened to be at her house and took the phone from her. the police said they couldn’t do anything about the money that had already been sent.
it was a pretty shitty situation, but when my little bro found out he joked: “wow grandma really has my back!”
thats funny and sad at the same time
This happened to an old lady from my church. She was scammed 2x. We secretly passed around a collection plate for her so she could recoup her losses.
Hell yeah....mark one up for the grandparents!
The grandson getting more and more of an Indian accent is hilarious
Its always like that when one get tired😅
@@mynameisGail take a listen. He is trying not to sound Indian, and as it goes along, his accent (which indeed is always there) gets thicker and thicker.
He didn’t know anything about the BEEFCASE
Even my Japanese boyfriend is telling me that the scammer has a very thick indian accent
@@lilithclaws832Do you think Japanese people can’t tell that people have accents or? 💀
I had this happen to me except there were a lot more threats and they were extreme with their methods, having me hysterical and left with some PTSD afterwards. Completely thought it was real until I found out later it was some jackasses trying to steal money from me. I’m glad we have people like you messing with these jerks and making their life harder to accomplish ❤️✨
Sounds like the type of scam that got that uber driver killed.
