    TESTING...TESTING! In this video, I am showing my apprentices the ropes of an EICR test; what we need to test, what we're looking for, how to tell if something is dodgy etc. I also hit them with a little Q&A at the end to see what they learnt. Watch the episode to find out how they performed and how many dodgies we found!

    Great deal for the apprentices!! Learning on the job can't be beaten!

    The circuit CPC is supposed to be disconnected from the MET and linked to the live conductor when measuring R1+R2 otherwise you could just be measuring a parallel path

    Thanks for the video. As an adult learner I can understand the dangers of no cpc continuity. What I don't get is how downrating the MCB on that circuit will make things safer?

      I believe if he downgrades the MCB it will trip out before it goes on fire

      @shannonj1000 too right 😀

      Technically, because it's the CPC which is broken, there's no need to downgrade the breaker. You would need to if one of the lives were broken as you can't have a 32A breaker feeding a circuit wired in 2.5mm because in the event of a fault the cable could melt and (potentially) cause a fire before the MCB would trip, but although it's not 'right' to have a broken CPC in a ring main, there's actually no inherent danger as 1.5mm is plenty to carry any potential fault current to earth (adiabatic equation). So in this case I'd check that every socket has a functioning earth (plug in tester or Zs) and note the broken CPC as a C3 (as there's no immediate or potential danger but it's not 'to regs')

      @waithereivegonetogethelp3240 your right to be fair, just out of habit really if there’s an incomplete ring to investigate and failing that down grade

    Mate what app or software you using? To do the Eicr, another great video.. đŸ‘đŸŒ

      Cheers dude! It’s Napit fast test. It’s quite good but I do think there’s better ones out there. It’s just gone really slow for me but I think that’s down to my computer 😂
