      Minecraft_No Friends Except Facial Recognition is usually a 2 step process(authentication then slide to unlock) compared to the 1 step fingerprint authentication. Facial recognition authentication needs to vastly improve in speed before that becomes a standard. My pixel 2 can authenticate and login at about half the speed of facial recognition.

      I thought about that a lot as well, it will definitely be expensive.
      I imagine it doesn't have to have the same color sensitivity of a camera sensor nor the contrast capabilities. It can basically be a sensor where each pixel sends one of 8 different degrees of lighting or so, but it still requires a ridiculous amount of recognized pixels to cover the entire screen.

    To your point about having the entire screen as a fingerprint sensor that's a good idea.
    In addition it would be good to have it on the side of the phone since most people are typically handling the phone with fingers, plus in this case, we can authenticate using multiple fingerprints. Food for thoughts?

    • @wyw201
      @wyw201 Před 6 lety +1

      BBK doesn't "master" so much as "source" the hardware from Synaptics and rely on Google to improve Android for this. Also, we know Samsung have issues integrating this tech into their top tier OLEDs. If OnePlus wants to push this out immediately, they'll have to stick with a lower tier OLED display (kinda like the ones they have now - no active color management)

    • @lenixxq
      @lenixxq Před 6 lety +18

      Lmao calm down. OnePlus does gives bang for the buck but certainly synaptics & google are the only companies which can boost this new tech up. OnePlus relies on both these giants for the progress. I do like 5t but you gotta keep in mind that OnePlus doesn't innovate or invent, it just makes stuff affordable (which is great too)
