Electrolysis

- Electrolysis is a process where you use electrical energy (electricity) to make a chemical reaction happen that wouldn't happen otherwise. Electrolysis is often used to break a chemical compound down into the elements that make it up. Here, we'll look at the electrolysis of water into hydrogen and oxygen, and the electrolysis of sodium chloride into sodium and chlorine. In electrolysis, electrons get pushed by a battery into the cathode (the site of reduction), and they get pulled by a battery from the anode (the side of oxidation).

I'm going to be honest... Whenever I watch a chemistry video, I always click off within 4-5 minutes, it just gets so boring. But with this guy, I didn't even notice that I had watched a 30-minute video talking about Electrolysis without any pause. This guy has to be the best teacher I've seen. Keep it up :)

Aayush Raghuvamshi right!
Hey Tyler,
I understand that there are 2 hydrogen molecules for every oxygen molecule in H20 but why would the volume of hydrogen be twice the volume of oxygen? Doesn't oxygen have a larger molecule size, so it takes up more space (and therefore more volume)?

Sir,you are one of the very best teacher I ever met in my life, thank you so much for your great mission.God bless you ...
You need to seriously make more videos involving the more advanced general chemistry concepts. I'm the top chemistry student at my University, and can honestly say I wouldn't be number one if I haven't found your videos.
Plus, I even changed my major to chemistry due to the strong foundation you have paved for me; you seriously changed my life, Tyler. Thank you!
I can't express how grateful I am to you for explaining all of this so nicely... This chapter was giving me so much anxiety and you cleared all my confusion!! Thank you so much 💫 💫 💫

Your are not a chemistry teacher. You are a chemist god. You can explain the learners to understand clearly. Thank you so much sir. Btw, Post more videos.
Well done! My son got a chemistry kit for Christmas and the first experiment was electrolysis of water into hydrogen and oxygen. The kit had almost no explanation of the chemistry and this was a lovely supplement to a fun experiment.

It's like I've got a new lens to look at the things. Your perspective is super cool & unique.❤
Thank you!❤
Your happiness while doing chemistry made me really love studying chemistry🤩
Tyler, thank you for sharing your hard work and knowledge. You showed great patience and in-depth understanding of electrolysis. Your video helps me to better understand this concept. You used two good examples to teach this very important concept. I like your approach, teaching style and the teaching aids used in this tutorial. Indeed, you are a great Chemistry teacher!
I've learned more in this 30 minute video than in 30 hours of chemistry class at school, I really appreciate your videos 😭🙏

I have been searching for videos on CZcams that explain electric chemistry but I have found nothing useful of them. And fortunately, I found your video and I quickly said this video is gonna provide me with as many information as I want to learn.
What made me say that your video is the best for me to understand electric chemistry is that I have watched your videos about significant figures, and after I watched them, I didn't get disappointed.
You are awesome!
keep up that awesome work :)
Hey Tyler, I really appreciate your effort in explaining to us these concepts intuitively.
I love you💙.
You are an outstanding teacher Tyler Dewitt. I am a teacher and I love sharing your videos with my students. I am now taking Chem in my graduate studies and I always review your video lessons. Thank you. You are now in the process of changing academia to more concrete and visible ideas in a way that everybody can easily perceive things. God bless you Sir! I wish someday I can see you in person just to say how your videos help me a lot in my studies and teaching.
Thanks so much for sharing this knowledge in your own unique way. I can see how much joy it brings you to do the work that you do. Gone through decades of school, but I have met only one other exceptional educator aside from you. Needed to re-learn this for a patent.
