It's amazing how much Blender has evolved since I started using it a bit more seriously in 2002... But I have been realizing this for a few years, now.
It’s really grown in 2 decades, though most notably in the last 5 years. The push to left-click made a huge difference, despite what the long-time users hated about that switch. I didn’t care either way, though left-click aligned with other tools I was using, and that helped.
@@KevBinge Yep, I remember that... It got me in its day a hard brain rewiring to get used to the right-click philosophy. I had worked at game studios handling 3D Studio (3DS Max), and everything was radically different (the UIs are different planets), including that. I remember suggesting at elysiun aka blenderartists lots of features that I had been using on 3DS (and later on, a bit on XSI Foudation). It was always a great satisfaction seeing every feature (or actually, capability) implemented, later on (not because of my recommendation, of course :D ). Mostly because for some time I thought it'd stay stagnant, or even disappear, like some other 3D apps had done (commercial like Mirai, Imagine, TrueSpace, or several open source). Blender has exceeded my craziest hopes I had about it. :)
When a video pops up from you.. I get excited, not necessarily for the content but your dry sense of humour (or for you, humor) .. I have forgotten a lot of things about blender so thanks for this!
Amazing tutorial. Thank you for the time you put into it. I'd love to see more especially in animating things and using keyframes. By the way, I'm just a beginner but I'm going to follow these beautiful tutorials. Thanks again dear.
I have forgotten what I remembered about blender but anymore nowadays I just forget. No sense in blaming it on you because I'll just forget that too but so far it's been a great tut and of all things you forgot to tell everyone how to apply the pencil color and the wood color to the assigned parts of the pencil. Why me? Just kidding. Don't stop teaching.
I have no idea at the moment, though I certainly could. I’ll do another of these for the community, then probably go back and forth between long and short videos.
You talk like I think, I hope you think that you talk a long. long time. I was a founding member of Corel and was a director of a 3D software company in Los Angles during during the early nineties. Had I known you then. Let the Bells Ring Out and the Banners Fly...
Thanks Gary! That’s really cool! I loved early Corel, it was ahead of its time. Great work. I agree, it would have been awesome to work on that stuff back then. I’d started CG (the 3D stuff) in 1998 after college so would have caught the tail end haha!
Should be a requirement after installing blender to watch before getting lost and blasting redit, discord, and all other forums with random super basic help questions.

OMG, you’re right! I don’t know what happened there, but yes, anyone reading this, just hit “Assign” to assign the shader to the object.
