I was shocked to see you interested in feeding birds and squirrels. Because just about 15 minutes ago, I saw a bird feeder I have, in storage, and thought I should put it up now. I've had it for several years, I brought it from my parents home, in a northern climate, to where I live now, which is tropical. We also have many squirrels where I live, and you have to take precautions, because they will eat all the bird food. There are also about 7 cats that live here. They keep away rats, and are nice to have. But the stray cats, you shouldn't feed, because they will never leave. And here, they\ squirrels are eating giant avocado, we have growing. So I'm picking most, and giving some away, because there are too many. It is very interesting to see how Ukrainians react, to the U.K., and the U.S., as both countries have a lot of similarities'. I'm learning about both countries, Ukraine and Britain, at the same time.

Our dear Ukraine has a much more wonderful custom - giving flowers :)) квітка shops are open 24X7
Before living in Kyiv, I never realized that giving flowers can bring so much joy - better than cards or trinkets.
And gifting flowers leads to a healthy horticulture cottage industry which generates income for lots of people all year round, and growing flowers is a side-business for many families in the villages and towns.
I will celebrate Ukraine's victory with flowers soon

We put out nijer seed as well. It's tiny so you need a feeder that has tiny holes. Three small, brightly coloured finches love it, goldfinches, siskins and redpolls. It sometimes takes a while before they discover it but when they do they keep coming back. Sqirrels can't get at it, another reason to try it.

Olga, for us ornithologists combating squirrel incursions into the territory of garden birds is an endless task. Not to say that the squirrels aren’t deserving it’s just that the birds are more subject to the vicissitudes of winter. You may also enjoy helping foxes by providing cheap frozen chicken around twilight, they will return and love you forever. Much as we do.

I have no idea how real estate in the UK works but I do know that it’s generally a longer process to get certified in Europe than the US. You probably have to work under a broker. If I were you I would get an entry level job in an office doing paperwork and answering phones because it’s gonna teach you valuable information that certifications don’t necessarily. Also, I say this to be helpful. Real estate is such a big purchase and I think you’d benefit on furthering your English, specifically phrases and idioms. When you speak it sounds like you translating how things are said in Ukrainian to English and it can be a lot of work for the listener.

You can get “ squirrel proof” feeders but they are very smart animals and can figure a way around most . We have one bin for food waste ,EW stinky in summer, and the rest goes into different coloured see thru bags, 1 for paper products, 1 plastics, one dry garbage. If you don’t sort it right they put a big green label on the bag to tell you to fix it and shame you when the neighbours see a rejected bag🤣😂🤣. Feeding the birds is fun but we are told they have a deadly virus now and they don’t want us to feed them. We stopped feeding birds that have migrated from away but once they all left when it got cold we started feeding the birds that live in our forest. We lost nearly all our beautiful Blue Jays from the virus and one of a mated pair of Wood Doves. I haven’t seen her lately so maybe she died as well.
When you feed birds you need to watch that you don’t attract rats🐁, we have a mouse who comes at night but there are no rats around so far. There is a Raccoon who comes sometimes though😳🫣.

I looked it up and it is legal to shot gray squirrels and rats in your garden with an air rifle. With the UK's very strict gun rules, I wasn't sure they were even going to allow it.

Lord God Almighty, as the fighting in Ukraine becomes focused on the East of the country, please protect life. May vulnerable people be allowed to leave and find safety elsewhere. We continue to pray that you will bring justice to this whole situation. Please bring this conflict to an end without further loss of life. Amen.

I usually just break up mouldy bread for the birds and they seem to appreciate it. They like anything except carrots (leftover fish skin, chicken skin, vegetables, fruit). I get annoyed when the crows take it though as it's not good to encourage them. The robins, sparrows, wrens, blackbirds, blue tits are adorable. The blackbirds especially as the male feeds the female. When I was clearing snow off the car windscreen a robin came and sat on the fence right next to me to watch me. So cute!

Just one bit of mould will kill a bird!! Please make sure it's just stale and wet if you want to feed bread. ❤️✌️

@@1justme Yes it's usually just stale, a week old. It might have the odd bit of mould on. I'll be more careful in future as I certainly don't want to harm them!
