This presentation demonstrates an approach to eye-movement disorders commonly seen in an ophthalmology or optometry clinic. This is the first half of the lecture, and focusses on large-angle tropias and how to document and name tropias (exotropia, esotropia, hypertropia, hypotropia).

I've had this ever since i was a child (18 now) and i wonder, is there any way to fix this?

    Saja,
What you are describing is "inferior oblique over action" which causes the eye to shoot upwards when looking toward the nose. There are many reasons to have this ... many children with congenital esotropia also have an IOOA. Another reason for a nasal upshoot that I see more often (because I work with adults) is a 4th nerve palsy. I recommend you watch my cranial nerve palsy lecture to see how this works.

Because what I've understood that in left hypertropia right gazing , there is an extra function for inferior oblique muscle which is responsible for elevation and adduction of the eye ball and it's innervated by the occulomotor not the 4th cranial nerve which innervates superior oblique

I ws exercising my eye muscles on the couch one day, quite vigorously. Suddenly one of the eye balls started to whirl for about 5 to ten seconds
(possibly triggered a muscle spasm). My vision separated into two images and something like vertigo. It was an interesting experience lasting at most 10 seconds. The point is that there are muscles in the orbits and like other muscles they work together and must be maintained in healthy condition. Otherwise my eyes are extremely healthy and I'm working on the Bates/Steiner methods for cancelling my myopia. These methods work but they are very subtle as is the Human Eye. JFroelich Ph.D mathematics, NSF postdoc etc.....etc....

    Dear Doctor!
I have 2 degrees of hypertrophia in the left eye, when focusing with the right eye.
    Some information:
    - I am 21 years old.
    - I have duoble vision. (I can change tha main focus eye-by-eye)
    - I wear glasses
    - My left eye focuses upwards, and it looks so awkward (no matter if my glasses are
    on or not, its there)
Although i also have 2 degrees of hypertrophia in the right eye when focusing with
the left eye, its not really a problem since in that case, my right eye focuses
DOWNWARDS with that 2 degree. Aesthetically it suits my preferences.
    But the first case doesn't.
I would like to go under eye muscle surgery to solve the problem.
    Glasses don't help.
In general, could it be possible to fix it with lengthening or shortening some
    muscle?
    What is your personal opinion?
I really admire Your work, thank you very much.
