  • Vanessa Kaimimoku was a loving single mother of 4 children. Two daughters and two sons. She was Mexican and Hawaiian and born in Honolulu, Hawaii. Vanessa always put her kids needs firsts. She bravely entered a burning building to try to save Kayla her 12 year old daughter the night of December 20th, 2022. Sadly, both mother and daughter were overcome by smoke and flames and perished in the inferno. Vanessa’s body was found protectively holding her daughter in her arms.
Kayla Kaimimoku was an angel on earth with her sweet friendly spirit. Her friends always knew her to be the friendly funny one.
Kayla went to Griffith Intermediate school where she loved reading books, cheerleading, playing basketball and singing karaoke. They both were taken from their family too quickly.
Maggie, Vanessa’s mother and Kayla’s grandmother was saved from the burning apartment by a brave neighbor. She is currently in the intensive care burn unit recovering. Her journey to recovery will be long and difficult.
The family has started a go fund me to help with costs for the children left behind, memorial costs and medical costs .Thank you for your support.
