I donât need switch games this Christmas. All I need is Breath of the Wild 2 next year and I can rest happy
For the squidgame fans get the dangan ronpa, they won't be disappointed.
Iâve got Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition under the tree for me. Never owned a Wii back in the day, so itâll be my first play through. From what Iâve read, Iâm in for a treat
I just got me copies of both Metroid: Dread & Ori 2, one of each for myself & an extra copy of each for my brother as well. I got Persona 5 Strikers and Ni No Kuni 1 & 2 for PS4 but I also want to get those games for Switch as well.
I really hope that the recent rumors of a possible Persona 5 port for Switch turn out to be true. I know that you've been clamoring for a Switch version of Persona 5 Wood, hopefully it's finally gonna happen in 2022.
If you like Japanese horror games try faital frame game its excellent game
Good call on the gift card idea. Whenever someone says they don't know what to get me, I just always say that you can't go wrong with a gift card. I have all the platforms too so it's even easier for them and more convenient for me since even if there isn't a specific game I want right now, I can add the funds to my account and keep it in case I'm short for a new game or if there's a sale where I can get a whole bunch of indie games.
I just ask for money so I can buy anything
@@Kaieatsrats sometimes i prefer gift cards. When people just give me money it usually ends up paying for fuel or food or someithing rather than a gift for myself like the person was intending, so it makes sure that i actually do treat myself to a new game or something
@@idiottqueen5845 This! Usually if someone gives me money, I spend it on Christmas gifts for someone elseđ€Ł
@@idiottqueen5845 Same. I usually feel bad spending actual on money on anything non-essential. At least with a gift card you know it's for a specific purpose and you don't have to feel bad using it since you can't exchange it anyway.
Yes, you can't go wrong. On Console, I'll get as many games as possible physicaly, but most Indies are digital only, which I enjoy quite a lot. There will be some use for the Gift Cards on some Sale for sure.
I would 100% recommended Hollow Knight to anyone. Itâs only $15, you get hours of great gameplay, great music, and the characters are all interesting. The only draw back is for a more casual gamer they may find it challenging but if itâs on someone list, buy it.
Yes!! Iâm surprised he didnât mention it.
Omg yes! For me its on the same level if not better than metroid dread!!!!
@@-Ianhand- better
OMG I freaking love Hollow Knight!!! Totally the absolute best game on the Switch... except for maybe Breath of the Wild.
Isn't it a souls-like? That's why I don't play it.
I think this tradition is so cool, these buying guides are such a nice way of just summing up the year of releases. It's a shame that it always comes out just a bit too late for Black Friday so my family has already done most of our Christmas shopping
A game I personally recommend is Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove, which is basically a perfect retro-styled game for people who want to play retro games but not have to deal with the issues older games have with four fully playable campaigns, a multiplayer mode and amiibo support, which is a good incentive to buy the 3-Pack that can sometimes be seen in stores.
I have watched all of the holiday guides, and I stopped what I was doing to watch this. Keep up the good work, Wood!
Iâm gonna go watch the others now!
I love that you break this down by prices. Got a couple of family members I want to gift them some games so this is super helpful. đ
same!
I love these so much, I was watching old ones the other day just to see if Iâd missed anything good in recent years. Itâs a nice balance of opinion and objectivity and Iâm sure itâs helped many people get gifts theyâll enjoy âșïž
I love these videos, I'm sure it takes a ton of work and we all appreciate them so much!! I'm gonna get my first ever switch soon and these videos really have helped me narrow it down to a good list.
You gotta love how Wood manages to create an organized, (relatively) short, compacted video of his and a bit of general experiences about lots of games for his viewers. Thanks Wood, and don't think your efforts go by unnoticed!
I bought Mario + Rabbids in the summer sale, $15 for the game plus all the DLC and holy cow I loved it. So much fun.
FR ITS AMAZING
I got it a few days ago too and it's just amazing! Really love it!
Really? I never purchased it bc it thought it wasn't that good, I'm gonna give it a chance now!
One of my faves
Just picked it up also
I seriously love these buying guide videos. Wood's great at taking you through why each of these titles is worth the buy or why they're not. Helps my wife know what's worth looking at too >.>
I loved this video. I will be taking your advice. Thank you.
This year I just realized something, why does BeatEmUps Christmas Buying Guide take place literally just a couple days after all the Black Friday Week Sales and Cyber Monday sales have just ended?
Good video BeatEmUps and continue the tradition!! :) Although next year, can you make the video just as the Black Friday Week Sales are starting instead?
I think we've just stumbled into a clear conspiracy. :D
@@sarahselzer1459 đł
I agree. It sorta defeats the whole purpose of the video in a sense. For all the good games he mentions, they could have been bought for a lower price a couple of weeks back.
So the filthy casuals don't buy up all the good games before the dedicated gamers who've been waiting for sales đđ€Ł
Good idea!
Iâm always hyped for these every year. Always a great summary of games that came out this year for the switch. Bless your soul my guy for giving us this masterpiece of a series.
I knew this video was coming, I could not wait.
I am not disappointed
Ive watched every of your buying guides for like 100 times and instead of going to school I'mwatching this lol. Good video fav youtuber deffinetly
Awesome job on taking the time towards breaking down all of these games by categories aimed more for people who arenât too familiar with video games. Spot on.
Thank you! đ I love this every year! So good for ideas for gifts for family and myself đ
yeee
I always love these holiday videos Iâve gotten most of my switch collection from your recommendations keep up the great work wood
Absolutely loved the video! Always look forward to watching these buying guides like thatâs how I know itâs Christmas đ Just recently bought a switch and I must say you were a huge influence on me making that decision. Seeing you play games on the console made it look so good and I must say I am loving it so far. Keep up the good work and videos and happy holidays to all!
I always love the âstand in front of the camera and talk to usâ videos. Thanks, Wood!
My own personal recommendation is definitely the Great Ace Attorney Chronicles! Getting two amazing games. Great music, really nice art, the story is really compelling... it's just great!
danganropa releases tmrw and is great if you like great ace attorney
YESSSS the great ace attorney is incredible
I love love love this game and this series
Right. And also the original trilogy
Whack Ah games
Thank you so much for your holiday ds hopping videos. I really enjoy them every year âșïž
thanks wood we love the content. u r doing really really amazing my dude
Letâs go been waiting for this keep up the good work
Hard to believe you arent a nintendo ambassador or anything with the love you show for nintendo. They really messed up on cutting ties or whatever they did. You'd be a great addition to their channel like kit and krysta are.
AYYY MY FAV KIND IF VIDEO OF YOU AT THIS TIME OF YEAR !
Thanks for another year of great YT videos (:
These past months ive picked up Starlink, Age of Calamity and DQ Builders 2 thanks to your past videos like this one.
Looks like im gonna have a great December ^^
Happy holidays Woods!
How's age of calamity? Is it worth the price
I was literally just watching your guide from last year and wondering when this year's one was going up so I'm so happy to watch this! Gonna send it to my grandparents so they know what to get me lol
Not sure if it was mentioned, but I'd HIGHLY recommend hollow knight for the 10-20 dollar range. For the low price and stupidly high quality, its one of the best deals Ive ever seen. Only thing I can say is the pacing is a bit slow to start off, and it can be a bit challenging for casual players.
I second this. I was waiting for it to be mentioned. Death's Door as well, although I got a crazy amount of hours out of Hollow Knight :3
Isnât it really difficult?
@@IWILLNEVERDIE885 to 100% it's brutally difficult. To beat the game and get the 3 main endings, it's challenging but very fair, you just have to be down to dedicate time to learning boss patterns and your own controls/limitations. It's souls-like in that regard, but from what I hear not as difficult as that (dont ask me though, ive never played a souls game for reference).
@@darcidious99 Hollow Knight is hard, but nowhere near as difficult as a Souls game!
I disagree
It's meh
I watched your others of these a few days ago, Merry Christmas and God bless you, also come to Maine it's very cold and nice
Your videos are so much fun! Just love watching your excitement.
I always look forward to your Holiday switch gaming recommendations. Never change Wood.
PS, how about a Holiday recommendation vid for PS4 & PS5 games? I really enjoyed all your previous Playstation vids.
Iâve been waiting for this!! One of my favorite videos every year!
same, cant wait for the next smash DLC pack!
Thanks for the list it was super helpful! Thereâs games on here I didnât know existed
You're great wood thanks! Merry Christmas!
You just put a smile on my face after I was stressed
" An RPG that anybody can get into."
Scott: " IM NOT AN RPG GUY"
thnak you for always making this video it helps a lot for new swith owners
Needed this video coming up to Christmas!!!
As always great content. I managed to get outer worlds for 15 dollars last year and I would say that its not worth buying if it's over 25 dollars. BUT as a fan of fallout and although its not as good as fonv its still pretty good. Just make sure you do a decent amount of side quests.
The one video I wait for every year Love these
i remember when you have less then 100k subs. man the growth and i remember you talking about your past. WOW IM SO PROUD OF YOU!!
Thank you so much! This video help me a lot!
Nothing marks the start of the holiday season like Woodâs Christmas game guide!
Thanks for featuring Tales of Vesperia! It's one of the best Tales games and it's often super cheap pre owned right now or digitally!
Yeah! Definitely better than the only other one I played, zestiria (lol)
Thank you for this video! It 100% helped me buy for my 2 sons, grandson and granddaughter!
Cool:) Which games did you get
Amazing video! Definitely got some good ideas from this video!
LETS GOOOOO! IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ALL THIS YEAR
Thank you for this video! Iâm planning on buying a switch for my birthday in a few months and I know the deals will be gone but honestly I just need to know what are good games to buy and what to not buy. You should do a beginners guide video for people who are new or planning on getting a switch.
i bought a switch a few months ago. i think it depends if u play by yourself or with ppl.
personally, the game i play by myself is Hades. Its not only actiony fighting but also has plot to it (stuff like potential love interests etc) thay isnt too overwhelming. its just enough to distract me for a hour or so.
with my family i play Super Mario Bros U Deluxe. its rlly fun and u can play by yourself or with ppl
Good job. Long-ish video not a waste of time. Full of titles and info, succinct. Thank you.
This is my favorite video for you to make every year!
Great video Wood! Nice recommendations. Im not getting anything mentioned, I already have some you suggested from this list, but I do want to get an accessory - the switch grip. That would be my recommendation for anyone. Also, Spiritfarer. Great game for under $20.
Happy holidays!
I do not own a switch but am planning to buy one and these videos just make me so happy and exited to watch your videos, they are awsome
The only thing to mention is that Super Mario Party is not as bad as you may think after watching this. Yes, MPSS is better that SMP, but that doesnt mean SMP is bad. A lot of people enjoy SMP too, so dont judge the game itself only based on what the reviewer said ; >
I getting a switch for me and my kids and I appreciate this video so much. I know now I definitely need a SD cards. I am liking and subscribed. Looking forward to a new year of gaming.
This yearly video means Christmas to me! Love you wood, keep up the great work!!
I'm an experienced gamer but fairly new to the switch, thanks for telling me the goods and bads
If youâre a fan of Action RPGs, definitely consider buying Xenoblade Definitive Edition! Hard recommend.
@@jerryborjon will do! I heard the combat was weird in that game, but Iâm always open to new games so might as well try!
I watched this in hopes to find something to buy for myself this Christmas, and realize that I already had all the top recommended games that slap the hardest. So now I'm a little sad đ great video as always! I bought my satisfy grip 2 years ago because of you and I never go anywhere without it!!
Just brought your limited edition zen grip bundle for Christmas for my self THANKS SO MUCH!
GREAT LIST! Thank you for making this
It's finally that time of the year! I love watching your holiday guides every year, they are always so much relaxing to watch.
Edit: Thanks for all the likes, i've never had this many!!
yessss!
I saw my target had âlimited stockâ on oled switches earlier today. Went to get one. They sold the last one 10 min before I got there đ now I have to wait another week! I never even wanted a switch till last week but now I need one now! đ
Yay, another BeatEmUps holidays video
I always loved to watch this last few years and im happy to see another this year to help me decide what games to maybe get! Thanks as always for awesome videos!
I would include Cuphead in the list of $20 must buy games. Loads of fun, well made, and lots of playtime (because it's difficult).
I wonder if I should get it for the Switch instead of PC, then. My son has been asking for ages but I've been waiting for it to come down, and now I have a Switch
@@amazingpurplegirl0903 If he takes the Switch on the go, then yes, I would get it on the Switch. It is a difficult game though, just so he knows that it won't be an easy one to beat. I am still only on the second world because there's a dragon boss that is super hard.
@@ganthc I'll ask him which he'd rather play on. We don't go anywhere particularly, so he plays at home hand-held.
We both watched it on CZcams (I watched Markiplier, I think he watched DanTDM), so he knows it's not easy
@@amazingpurplegirl0903 If he plays on handheld mode (which is what I meant to say with "on the go"), then yeah, still get the Switch version. But if he does most of his gaming on the computer, then just buy that version. I bought Cuphead for my nephew on the Switch and he loves it. Gives him something to do (he doesn't have that many games) when has only an hour or so to play.
Great list. Always fun to see your reviews. Only disagreement I have is with your opinion on the Outer Worlds. I played through it and absolutely loved the Fallout in space vibe. Graphics might not be amazing but still looked good to me and I rarely had any problems or glitches. Definitely worth the $20 I bought it for at Walmart. đ
Love these videos so fun and helpful during this time of year. Did I miss the Witcher 3 recommendation? Itâs so nice to see that a lot of these games still make the list after being on the system for a few years now. Thanks Wood!
Great video thank youâ€ïž
I recommend Rune Factory 4, it's an RPG/farming game with a good story and a lot of in-depth characters that have a lot of dialogue and events/festivals (it's 30⏠for the physical copy) I think is worth the price
came to say this, Rune Factory 4 is an awesome game! (and has a lot of content too)
Great list, but I've gotta say, I'm enjoying shining pearl far more than sword. A bit more of that nostalgic feel for me I guess.
To each their own I guess, that's what makes video games so great.
Also, octopath traveler should be an absolute must buy.
I havenât been able to get it yet. But tbh it looks amazing. Idk why the hate. Most times theres a new PokĂ©mon game the shelves, empty. This year on boxing day we went in late because we didnât really care and are broke. This year though both diamond and pearl were still there. Even the double pack. I thought it was odd
Thanks, you help me to sort my buy game list
Great structure for the video, ill have to go through it again later, this will help me decide on future purchases.
This is perfect for GameStopâs buy 2 get 1 free if the sale is still going on. I picked up Donkey Kong, Age of Calamity, and Dread.
Heads up, buy Overcooked All You Can Eat as opposed to the Overcooked double pack. It remasters the first game, includes the second game, and comes with all the DLC for both games plus a free DLC expansion that isn't in any of the other games.
Thanks Wood, I got bowerâs fury. Was considering Luigiâs mansion 3 but will get it next year! Thanks for the amazing list of games. Happy holidays
Just started watching your videos. Love the content. You are my go to for what to get for the Nintendo switch. The switch has become my go to console over Xbox and PlayStation. Just love the handheld. I own the Nintendo switch lite. My favorite gaming console ever!!!
Great call on the Mario Party Superstars and Super Mario Party. Before I bought Superstars, I almost bought Super Mario Party. Thinking it was the latest one. I didnt even know there were two Mario Parties. Thankfully I looked into it and bought the right one. Another tip is dont base your pick on amazon reviews only. SMP has over 22k reviews and a 4.8 out of 5, but the game is trash and a testing ground for MPSS. Superstars has 1k reviews and 4.8 as well.
SMP has more reviews because it's been out for longer. I wouldn't say it's terrible, but I feel many of the other games in the series (such as superstars, even if the boards are remade from past games) handle the boards much better than super did.
Iâm definitely not a grandma looking to buy something for their grandkids but this is seriously such a good video idea to target and help people on that situation.
Thank you for all the hard work to put this together.... Great list
BeatEmUps you make my life bro, thank you, merry Christmas from the UK x
I also always love your attitude and excitement in your videos. You must really enjoy doing these videos!
same
I picked up Outer Worlds for $20 AUD on sale. Yeah it look rough on switch, but it has it where it counts - gameplay/gunplay, and great rpg character levelling and customisation. Enjoying that game a lot.
Thx itâs on sale for 24 AUD should I get
@@boxymousie6909 It depends. It is a good game but not a great port overall. Often looks rough but if you can get past that it is OK. Better played on other systems. The game itself is probably a 7/10, though I thought the Peril of Gorgon DLC should have been part of the base game.
so im watching this video in august of 2022 and i love watching some of these videos made during christmas, also i still think this is a pretty solid list even today
I havenât watched your channel in a while great video
I think the new Bioshock collection is absolutely amazing and a perfect port for the switch I'd say
Oh yeah I totally forgot that those got ported to Switch! Love those games!
Thank you so much for making this Wood. Now I know what games are worth purchasing and their price ranges
đ
You helped me to decide. Thank you Master
Thanks for the list, I actually look to this channel to get wood's opinion on games when I've played everything and I'm looking for a new switch game that I may not otherwise consider buying or when looking for a game to get for my nieces.
Wood : âHere are the switch games you should buyâ
Fans : âJust tell the viewers to buy Smashâ
But what if we only like single player games? We're in the minority, I know, but hey, I know what I'm about. lol.
Personally I enjoy the GTA Definitive editions. I always thought these games looks goofy it's just that now they have much more comfortable controls. And if I experience bugs it's just more fun for me.
Awesome man thanks for the hard work
Hey thanks for the recommendations Wood
I think someone forgot Hollow Knight, itâs usually around $15 on the Switch. Must buy .
_"It's made by Ubisoft, so you know that it's decent."_
Just out of interest, what colour is the sky on your planet?
Great work once again Wood! Funnily enough this list is almost word for word exactly how I would personally categorise these games too! Particularly the "maybe" category, ones that I could thoroughly recommend to the right person based on their taste.
And the gift card is my go-to gift (and what obtend to recieve) since if its a well known enough game that I wanted chances are I already got it, my friends are similar. At least a gift card or cold hard cash means they're guaranteed to get something they want/don't already have.
YES finally I have been waiting all year for this, such a great video!!!
Good list, the only one I would disagree on is The Outer Worlds. It is one of my most played switch games. While it is definitely the worst looking version of the game, I never had performance issues in my 3 playthroughs of the game or the DLC on my switch lite. I had more fun with this game than many others on this list. For fans of fallout style games I would definitely get this if they don't have another way to play it. It should be on your maybe list.
Yeah I love the Outer Worlds on switch. I don't get how in his review of the Witcher 3 he's okay with those graphics but hates on the Outer Worlds. I get he doesn't have time to play a lot of games after his first impession (multiple updates have come out for the outer worlds since) but the Outer Worlds is one of the best adventure RPGs on the switch now. Especially for $20-$30.
Outer worlds is absolutely amazing and definitely is a high up there for me. The one I donât agree with was his comment on ZeldaâŠâŠ first off every Zelda is a better recommendation than BOTW but I personally know 3 people that easily would ask for Links awakening
Agreed. I have no playback issues on mine either
Well said. As someone who only has the switch, I loved this game. I played it a few months ago after the updates and the game was fine. Sure blurry and not as pretty as on other systems but enjoyable. I really liked the story and characters (especially Parvati). I played it for a like a week straight lol. Lots of dialogue choices :D.
It's definitely a buy for me, especially since it's often on sale for around 20s.
New update solved a lot of performance issue.
I just bought Monster Hunter Stories on 3DS for $19.00 and I am loving it, I played the second ones demo on Switch but I wanna play and finish the 1st one 1st, tge game is beautifull and addictive and i think it's batter looking than the Zelda games.
these recommendations are really helping me a lot since i'm going to get my first switch (oled) to be honest!!!! thanks for the videos recommendations!!!
