Back in 5th and 6th Grade, at Mareeha's school, everyone was just friends with everyone. There were students and kids of every color, ethnicity, from every culture, and all religions, and nobody cared - they all played together and they were all friends.
Mareeha had a best friend named Caitlyn - a real best friend forever, and they did everything together. And she also had other friends, best friends too, but maybe just not quite as close as she and Caitlyn were - the two of them had something special.
But, when they moved up into higher grades and got older, things began to change. It was like the kids turned meaner, and starting forming cliques, being exclusive and starting to leave people out.
Even Mareeha's wider group of friends started acting differently, just meaner and looking down at other kids, not the way they all used to be at all, and it was upsetting. It made Mareeha sad.
One day Mareeha and Caitlyn were playing at the park, and one of Mareeha's "other" friends came over to her and told her that she shouldn't play with Caitlyn anymore because she was black. She never considered her her black friend or her African American friends, just her friend, her best friend.
This totally confused Mareeha because after all, she herself was brown skinned, but she was scared of these girls who used to be her good friends. There were a bunch of them, and they were kind of mean, and on the other side there was just Mareeha and Caitlyn. Mareeha felt all that peer pressure, and back then at least, well, she didn't have the guts to stand up to them, she just went with the crowd - that seemed like the least scary thing to do.
So she did it. She went up to Caitlyn and said "I don't want to be your friend anymore because you're black". She chose popularity vs true friendship. Later, the reality of what she said hit her hard. She was a bigot who made a racist statement to her best friend. She felt so guilty and lonely and bad, because really, Caitlyn was her best friend and she just succumbed to peer pressure in the worst way.
After a few days it got to be too much for her, and she went to Caitlyn's house and rang the bell and apologized. She admitted that she was just trying to fit in with the other girls, and it was wrong, and she felt awful about it. Caitlyn accepted Mareeha's apologies - they were best friends again.
Later, those other friends, the racist mean girls, came up to her and asked "why are you friends with that black girl Caitlyn again?" and finally, Mareeha had her chance to stand up to them. She told them "no, Caitlyn is my best friend and I don't care what you say!"
And that's when the racist mean girls turned on her. Mareeha started getting ganged up on too, bullied, made fun of for being "the brown girl with the black girl." But still, she didn't care. She knew that all that mattered was that in the end she did the right thing, and in the end, had her best friend who was a good person and a perfect friend! It became mean girls versus best friends. Discrimination is a terrible thing but a friendship this strong is a true gift. Their experience together make their friendship stronger.

I got bullied like this. My skin colour is black and people was making fun of it. I remember this kid named Jonathan went up to me and said “How about you go back to your country” then I said “How about you go back to the trailer park we’re you came from” and somehow he stopped bullying me.
Nah here racism is too low bullies are not accepted in my school but if there's a bullying incident of course they will clean the girl's or boy's toilets for a week!

I remember when I went to the park I saw these two black girls. I was in 3rd grade and we were playing together. I asked them if they wanted to be my friends and they said "I'm sorry but our mom doesn't want white people to be considered our friends." I was heartbroken.

This story is incredible.
Most people would try to fit in with the crowd, and in that situation unfriend Kaitlyn forever so that people wouldn’t judge them, but the fact that she ended up realizing her mistake and admitted to be wrong knowing that she’d still would be bullied shows her bravery.

I hate when that happens my bff from grade 2 was a boy + black and I am Mexican. No one cared about me being Mexican bc I'm light coloured but people used to tell me "why are friends with a black boy?" The bullying got to him and he had to move I tried to protect him but people would push me out of the way and when I told teachers they did nothing and I would hate to fit in the crowd and I miss him.

I actually said something like that to these girls who bullied me cause I was half white half black but I was more on the tanned side so I looked like a light skin black person. I was basically worshiped by the entire grade

My story of my skin
I went to this school and there were barely any blacks. I walked down hallways and no body notice me or bothered me. But one day it changed. Some girls came up to me and said "We don't accept chocolates at our school" (I said choclates cause they said a bad word to me that meant us) So I was like "So why does it say "Everybody is welcome" and I walked away. Later that day I saw like drawings in the bathroom saying "Blacks suck and Blacks ars ugly". It made me sad because like we had slavery and now people are being me to us again. So like I started to like worry. I nevered told my parents because I was too scared to. So it got worse. There was paint on my locker saying "No blacks allowed" And other things. I Finally had the strength to tell my parents and it felt nice to let it out. Those students were expelled and Like almost the whole school is my friend now.
P.S if anything makes u unhappy or worry alot and your scared to tell a trusted adult have a friend or practice and then you won't be scared!! 😁😁😁

I have 4 best friends 3 are black and the other is mixed. Since I am white/Asian I kinda stand out but whenever people are being racist to them I always stand up for them. I just hate how people hate my friends just bcuz they’re black or mixed.
I know right no one should be judged by their skin. Racist People say "am white your black am better than you"which in my opinion is B.S. I am white but I don't believe I am better than someone just by their skin that's not right. we are all human beings all of us were born on the same planet, we may look different but we need to past that and realize we are all the same. there is no other race there is no black,whites people.there is only one race in this world it's the human race

The Xeno Leader Actually, we aren't supposed to see colour.... Dogs and cats see the the world right(supposing that they see in grayscale) and we don't. It's just the light that bounces off an object that makes that object reflect colour
