Haven't really used windows for years, so please pardon my naive question: Would it be good practice to check for updates BEFORE running the DISM utility? I can see getting somewhere inescapable otherwise. Thank you.
Good suggestion. That would eliminate it being blocked by a pending update and would also make sure any corrupt files are updated with the latest version.
👍
What do you do when DISM /..... /Restorehealth ALSO causes a crash? I get to about 30% then a CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED stop error
Here is some info: windowsreport.com/critical-process-died-windows-10/#:~:text=The%20Critical%20process%20died%20issue%20is%20basically%20caused%20when%20a,are%20working%20on%20their%20PCs.
Very helpful but could you please provide a succinct explanation of the difference between the DISM and SFC commands? They seem to do the same and provide the same outcomes.
DISM replaces corrupt files in your Windows installation source location. SFC replaces corrupt files in your windows OS by pulling from that source location. So what can happen is your Windows OS can have corrupt files and it will pull from the installation source folder to replace those files. However, if your source location also has corrupt files then you need to replace them from online first with DISM. That is why you run DISM first then SFC second.
@@SeleTraining Got it. Thanks!
Question: if there's nothing noticeably wrong, is running this a good idea as a preemptive routine?
Best to leave it alone unless you are having issues.
@@SeleTraining Ah, well. Glad you warned me or else I would have messed with it because I could. Thanks.
What should I do if I got a spelling error
Should I reset?
And also what if it keeps on freezing
Whatever I do it keeps on freezing
