I know Boston is the last place the Bucks wanted Jrue to go
Nightmare scenario fr 😭
Why? Dude was their most inconsistent offensive player and he got absolutely torched defensively in the playoffs haha
@@jellyman9013 hes still a great defensive player that docent go away as much as offense, and for last season bucks were asking him to be a 2nd option and thats not him, celtics are using him to facilitate the offence and be 4th or 5th option for offense which will make him more comfortable
@@jellyman9013That’s like saying you ain’t worried about handing over a loaded revolver to someone you hate because it (very rarely) jams sometime. It’s still a dangerous weapon-why would you want to hand it to your enemy?
@jellyman9013
Because Boston have already been the better playoff team for the last two seasons, and Jrue gives then everything they needed in a point guard. His game is a much better fit in Boston where he won't be relied on so much for scoring - all he really meets to do is handle the ball, play hard defensively and make the odd open shot.
It also allows Boston to split timing so they absolutely always have either Tatum and holiday or Brown and porzingis in the court - 48 minutes a night they can have multiple guys they can run the offence through.
This is just such a superior show then any of the nonsense on espn

I believe Celtics trading Smart and forcing Tatum and Brown to step up in the leadership role is very intelligent. I was also taken back about losing Brogdon and Williams but gaining Jrue Holiday is super exciting. Sucks we lost our big man Williams, that trade hurts. But I can’t wait for this season. We have what it takes to go all the way and as we’ll best the Bucks.
it hurt so much especially since he was so young and has a chance to be a dpoy, and jrue has talked about retiring, but with other moves it makes sense in some ways. Figured al would be brought down in minutes before but now they will have to run him still.
I've said this for a while, as much as I love smart.... Maybe having the 3rd or at times 4th best player on the team be the "heart and soul" of the team might not have been the best situation as much as I love the dude. This team has to be Tatum and Brown's team for better or for worse.
I like the fact that this show has no fluff. People don't waste 3 minutes talking about the weather.
It’s crazy how nobody speak on a great Al be guarding Giannis better then anybody in the league definitely in the playoffs.

Jordan Walsh. I honestly think he will get some minutes this year. Great long defender. Could give valuable bench performance in the 10 minute range.

@@jessejamesgames8148I’m not mad at that considering Jrue is probably going to retire in the next 3-4 years. It might even be good for Jordan’s development to be around a defender like him.

@@steel1022 Bro last year he had his best year so I’m hoping injuries are behind him but don’t forget it’s the NBA Milwaukee is one superstar away from being in a absolute disaster. Celtics have four players who can put up 30 points. Milwaukee only has two players you can put up 40 points if they lose one of them. They are screwed.
In my humble opinion. This series of trades gave everyone what they wanted.
01) Dame got his wish & went to a contender.
02) Giannis got his wish & the Bucks got better
03) The Celtics went all in & they are in win-now mode with Jrue.
04) Portland got a HAUL! Their future is so bright with multiple firsts, pick swaps, and legit big men in Deandre Ayton & Robert Williams, both fit their timeline.
05) Ayton got out of Pheonix were it was obvious he hated
06) The Suns added much needed depth which were basically 4 max salaries and vet mins before.
Great comment!
07) gave the Heat motivation to beat you anyway
Dame wanted to go to South Beach and play with Jimmy.
The bucks got worse though
I agree Portland got what they want, but I don’t trust their front office to actually capitalize on it 😂😮😢
Al Horford and Brook Lopez should both make the Hall of Fame. Entered NBA as the most traditional (and second-tier) of back-to-the-basket post scorers, and managed to evolve with every metamorphosis of the center position to outlast multiple generations of supposedly superior big men, from Dwight Howard to Roy Hibbert to Joakim Noah to Andrew Bogut to Andrew Bynum to Kevin Love to Rudy Gobert.
Joakim Noah 😂

This was so refreshing, actual tactical basketball talk and a former player embracing advanced metrics! Wow.
As a Celtics fan I was yelling from the rooftops for them to go after Holiday, because after Milwaukee got Dame they needed that extra piece to match the Bucks. I think this trade gives the Cs the most versatile/talented 6 man rotation in the NBA, especially defensively. Additionally, they’ve finally got something they really never had with Smart, a floor general. Of course it’s tough to see those key bench pieces go, especially Rob Williams, but in my opinion that version of the Celtics reached their max potential 2 seasons ago when they lost the NBA Finals. I just don’t think they had that extra piece or 2 needed to get over the hump. Now, after this roster refresh, I think the sky is the limit.. and I’m very excited to see how this team gels.
I know I love Rob, I hope the blazers had to deny AL for them to send Rob away.
Who are the 6 man rotation?

Welcome to the Hall of Fame Jrue Holiday. Congrats on helping Tatum, J. Brown, and Prozingus get they 1st ring. Dang I can see it now, Horford finna be so happy he finally wins a NBA ring. This teams is loaded.
They need to improve their bench and bubble-wrap Porzingis before they should be taken over Milwaukee or whoever comes out the West
Their depth is my only worry they got to be active during the buy out market and trade deadline. They easily could’ve gotten someone like kelly oubre or dwight in the last month

@MikeTheNBAGuy Tbh They might already have a better bench than the Bucks... They still have Horford and D. White. And they have Jordan Walsh and Oshae Brissett... If Luke Kornet can be okay, and if Blake Griffin comes back, it's over... 🤷🏽♂️ The only team that I can see stopping this team is the Suns. I don't see the Lakers stopping this team, maybe the Nuggets tho but even then, I kinda doubt it... 🤷🏽♂️
@NickGnagGnag They have Oshae Brissett, Luke Kornet, and Jordan Walsh. Also, this gives Pritchard some opportunity, and if Blake Griffin comes back, I think the Celtics are gonna be straight. They're loaded. They don't need to play their best players at the same time. D. White and / or Horford could come off the bench, honestly, and still play 26-32 minutes... 🤷🏽♂️
I’m so excited to watch all the teams around the league this year got so much talent every where hopefully everyone stays healthy
Great stuff drose !!
The one thing people are forgetting about the Celtics as compared to other teams, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have gotten BETTER every year and are just about to enter their primes!!

Thing about Jrue is he brings playoff and championship experience as a veteran guard. He’s still got a few quality years left to give the Celtics a boost. And the fact he’s played in tandem working screens and pick and rolls with some of best bigs in the game like AD, Julius Randle, Demarcus Cousins, Lopez, and the MVP Giannis will only help him work his trademark with Kristaps who is a very talented big man.

Celtics pick up Dwight Howard and give him 15mpg off the bench.
Or Bill Lambeer as a starter
Man Jrue going to Boston was EXACTLY what I wanted as a basketball fan but what I did NOT want as a Dame fan 😂😂😂 I hope these teams are full strength and meet in the playoffs! I can't wait to see this match up. I wonder if the Bucks can add a wing or get something out of the young guys like Beauchamp. I didn't necessarily like losing Rob Williams for the Cs because that means relying on KP and Rob is an underrated passer and very high IQ glue guy offensively not just as a defender. I liked the trio of Rob, Horford, and KP together. I wonder if they could've given another pick and player instead of Rob? Both him and KP have injury issues but man I'd have loved to see them play together. I hope my guy Pat bounces back and finds his shot again more consistently this year because he was great playing with Dame in Portland and in his previous years with the Bucks especially during that title run. Sorry for the rant but man this is exciting stuff for the NBA this year! JJ if you see this I have a question for you;
Do you think Middleton returns to full form this year and do you think he's now the x factor in this potential series?
No, they couldn't have. I didn't think Boston would make this trade because it meant they HAD to trade Brogdon and Smart PLUS Rob Williams or Al Horford. I'd have traded Al(and I'm not even sure if that trade would have worked, but it'd be really close money wise
That's why I was kinda alright with losing Jrue to the Celtics if the Bucks had to move Jrue to get Dame.
It's still a massive gut punch because he's just such a good dude AND lock down defender, but now the Celtics have just NO size and depth on their front court. It went from Giannis' nightmare in Grant and Rob Williams and then Horford was certainly a problem at times. But I feel like this will be Giannis' series to dominate. Porzingas is a really talented player, but he can't match Giannnis' physicality and he's got health issues.
I THOUGHT Brogdon+Williams was better.
Middleton is done.
@@TheHaagendazs0 Hmmkay...

I still say we’re getting a Suns, Bucks rematch
Correct
The keague just got shook up in an i vredible way❤
Swapping Smart for Jrue is a straight up upgrade for the Cs. Im worried about the Bucks Celtics matchup again 😬
They need a big center for the playoffs. Not only for 6 more fouls against Giannis, but also it is unpredictable if Horford will drop off or get injured.
Hell, Porzingis has his own history of injuries. It feels like both our bigs can go out at any moment without a true safety net. Definitely something we need to address for the long stretch of the season/playoffs.
I wanted Jrue anywhere but Celtics ahaha. He’s one of my favourite players and it hurt to see him depart from the Bucks, would’ve loved him on the Lakers which is the team I support, or even Clippers, 76ers or just any Weest team or East team not named Miami Celtics but now I’m gonna have to endure watching him on my little brother’s team and I think Celtics are the clear favourites tbh
Rob had a 24.5% defensive rebounding rate, KP was at 21.8%, Rob just played fewer minutes so of course he would have a lower average. I don't think the rebounding will be much of an issue though, nobody is "small" on the Celtics starting lineup.
I think Holiday may be more of a gamechanger than Porzingis. It's not just his ability to defend, it's how he defends and how he does everything else as well. He's an excellent help defender who seems to know instinctively just how far he can help off his guy and still recover (even when guarding elite scorers like Harden). This is key for a Boston team that may well be undersized in some key matchups (Philly, Denver, Phoenix, Milwaukee). He has a similar physicality and ability to create chaos to Marcus Smart, but is slightly quicker on his feet, especially laterally which allows him to stay in front of smaller guards (something that Smart sometimes would struggle with).
Offensively, Holiday is a force multiplier. If he needs to, he can go out and get his own 20+ points, scoring at every level. But the thing I'm most excited for is his playmaking. I was pretty worried when Boston traded Smart because of his playmaking ability, which Boston didn't really replace (Derrick White isn't much of a passer and Tatum is still very much a work in progress). Adding Jrue gives Boston a PG with true floor general ability. I think that this could be a critical factor to bringing the three elite scorers (Tatum/Brown/Porzingis) together. If Boston can stay healthy, they are a force to be reckoned with.
I would like another big man, given Porzingis' injury history and Al's age. I'd actually be very open to a Daniel Theis reunion. I always thought that Theis was a bit under-appreciated by Celtics fans. He was a positionally versatile player who positioned well for defense. He was also a greater sealer, one of the better bigs in the NBA at the time when it came to sealing off his defender. This isn't something that's tracked or talked about a lot, but it could be huge for a team with the Jays. By sealing the opposing big, Theis essentially created a much more open line to the rim. He's also a somewhat reliable spacer, which lets Boston keep their five-out lineup, which was their best lineup last year.
Also, as a Celtics fan, I'm not really concerned by Embiid at all. I am more concerned about somebody like Jokic. The difference is that Jokic is hard to double because of his playmaking. If you send a double at him, he's going to most likely read it and make the right pass. Even if you get him once, the same trick is unlikely to work twice. Combine that with Denver's other four scoring threats and you are forced to defend Jokic one-on-one. Embiid, we can double half the game because he struggles to make the right read and rarely makes the right pass on time and on target. If Embiid learned to make that cross-court read and pass quickly out of the double, he'd be an absolute nightmare to defend, borderline impossible to defend.
The Celtics will hold their own defensively. People should be more concerned on how the hell anyone is going to stop that Celtics offensive!?

Immediately here!
Derrick White and Jrue Holiday impact the basketball on the perimeter as good as any players in the league.
Tatum and Brown gotta tighten up their handle!
Brown has no left hand, but NOW he doesn’t have to handle the ball as much. He’s better in catch-n-shoot. Brown’s gonna have an EPIC year thanks largely to Jrue (and jettisoning Smart!)
That’s hilarious because I caught that too, about “the illusion” of someone who could step out & knock down a shot. 😂
It is amazing the difference between this great analysis and the oversimplified and bad analysis steven a did in FT. Great talk guys
I love Jrue Holiday’s game however as a Celtics fan the loss of Robert Williams hurts. The perimeter defense is an immediate upgrade yes, but the interior defense from Rob having more blocks than missed shots, can grab every rebound offensive and defensive. Rob was our anchor. And I can’t help but feel adding Jrue is nice but the con of losing what Rob adds may outweigh the pros of Jrue. We are stacked at PG already between Derrick, PP, Jrue. If we go two guards Brown is a better 2 than a 3 and Tatum plays the 3 better than the 4.
Incredible
Celtics need to go get Dwight Howard
Lmao the Luke kornett slander is uncalled for
I'm hoping for Dwight. He still has the athleticism to replace some of what Rob brought in terms of lob threat and shot blocking and having him as a big body for a possible matchup with Jokic and Embiid would be nice.

I think that Gabriel is capable of filling a bit of the void that Rob left and I'm sure they may look for a vet guard. But my goodness are they loaded. These matchups are a two way street. Sure bigger teams might be able to do some work inside and Giannis / Embiid are tough matchups. But those teams are going to have to guard the celtics too. Boston at least has pieces to slow down Dame and Giannis. Who are they going to put on Brown, Jrue and Tatum?
Totally agree. People are ignoring how good of acquisitions Brisett and Banton are, who I think very well fits the Celtics' identity

The Celtics lineup is scary on paper, but we have seen a lot of teams like this before (Flippers, Nets, Suns...). We gotta see if they actually work together as a unit but it's definitely a super high ceiling, I think they've had a great summer and the front office can't really be taking the blame anymore, it's up to the boys on the floor to make it happen.
agreed. but either way, defensively, they are going to be a top team.
DROP THE JOE EP NOWWWWW
I;m furious the Knicks couldn't get Jrue. He was too valuable an asset for too many teams in the east. Bulls, Heat, Philly, Raptors, and of course, Celtics would have all obviously benefitted greatly from his presence, so I felt like the Knicks needed to be aggressive. Something like Barrett, Hartenstein, two firsts. They would have still had the assets for the big superstar move if it becomes available...now the Celtics basically turned Smart to Holiday and Williams to Porzingis and all they had to give up was Brogdan, who was possibly too injured to trade and the reason they gave up Smart in the first place? Don't get me wrong, I'm a salty Knicks fan, but come on!

Marcus is better at team defense(rotations awareness and offball activity) and organizing the defense
Jrue is a better man defender
@@frz_- Celtics problem has always been offense. Marcus makes a lot of dumb fouls which hurts the offense cause then the other team gets free throws and can set up their defense. Marcus always does this when the Cletics are on scoring run.

Was fun and exciting watching guys like Romeo Longford, Guerschon Yabussele, Semi Ojeleye, and James Young make plays now and again and occasionally contribute but it just never really seemed like any pick that was lower end of the lottery or later never really planned out in the long haul or lived up to the level of contribution we hoped to see even in the better moments
Different eras. Danny was there during the rebuild so picks. Now they're contending, so they have to go all in on the present
Unless all teams are counting on Nuggets getting injured, they are winning again. All small ball teams looked so ridiculous trying to guard them. Honestly Minnesota with their two 7 footers looked the best at times. Okay you arent getting a big men to counteract some of the Jokic offensive arsenal or rebounding, then get some big PFs or SFs. This is why I dont respect modern Nba as much and Nuggets expose it nicely. If you put any of the other top teams against any of the great teams of the past they will get obliterated in the paint and on the boards.
Tatum can cook offensively at the 4. You break through the Celtics front court fine you get 2's. Cs are gonna light you up from three. This is crazy...
when is pop coming on
Celtics big 4 is crazy
Not even tryna gas us up but when you really think about it….with the jays and D white building upon the strides they made last season, jrue who’s DEFF gonna fit in seamlessly. Then if kp can stay healthy, build Upon his own strides on defense he made (because he’s easily gonna outscore anything Muscala & Timelord put up together)
Hopefully Hauser can keep that shot fallin, the rooks can find a lil niche,
ATP anything Al got left in the tank is just a luxury!
This team really could be scary .
Giving up Robert Williams is going to hurt the Celtics big time. Especially w/ Smart gone. Holiday fills the Smart void but Williams will def be missed
@@joeparziale685 👍🏻
@joeparziale685 yeah, he's a liability at this point. C's were happy to let him go while he was worth something on the street.
We got KP who’s better. I don’t understand why people are worrying about the center position when Rob was barely healthy.
Holiday is like Smart on D, but is a better scorer and commits less dumb turnovers!!
Grant and Rob anchored that defense that got them to the Finals. Kristaps is completely trash and very injury prone. Jrue is good player but his playoff stats the last three years are garbage.
