The Britten-Norman BN-2 Islander is a British light utility aircraft and regional airliner designed and originally manufactured by Britten-Norman of the United Kingdom. Still in production, the Islander is one of the best-selling commercial aircraft types produced in Europe. Although designed in the 1960s, over 750 are still in service with commercial operators around the world. The aircraft is also used by the British Army and police forces in the United Kingdom and is a light transport with over 30 military aviation operators around the world.

Ah..... I was remembered my dad, he loves BN 2A, simple to maintenance, STOL, like a Land Rover, he was fly in Sumatra Indonesia and landed at air strip grass or gravels. He has about 25.000 hrs at BN2A. He was retired and pass away. I miss you dad.

One of the best videos of Planes I've seen in a very long time, l remember flying in one of these planes from Glasgow to Campbeltown many years ago and I really enjoyed that flight, so a great big thank you to everyone who has made this trimendous video (l enjoy every minute of it) .

Love this video. Sights and sounds brought back many memories of when I lived in the New Hebrides in the South West Pacific in the mid 1970s. The Island group (now known as Vanuatu) was governed jointly by the UK and France and was known as the Condominium. The domestic airline was Air Melanesiae ( international services were provided by Air Pacific, Air Nauru and UTA) which used Islanders and Trislanders on its services between the numerous islands in the group. There were only two asphalt runways, one at Bauerfield near the main town of Port Vila, on the island of Efate, and one in the north of the group at Luganville on the island of Espiritu Santo. All of the other landing strips on various islands were surfaced with crushed coral or grass. Many of the strips were cut out of the bush, a few were close to the sea, in one case alongside the beach and only about 2 metres above sea level. I was lucky enough to fly in and out of several of these airstrips (as a passenger) in the course of my job. The Islander was ideally suited to the task. Thanks again for the reminder.

Thanks for the video. I really like the use of different angles and locations on the airport. I was quite familiar with a particular turbine islander at RAF Weston on the Green back in the 80's.
