Definitely worth it, though you will have to re-farm all the orange Slimes to get the Sword upgrade again... but starting off with all the Spells should make this a breeze to collect the first time you travel through most areas.
Palaces, bosses and the ending all differ in New Game+.

I would LOVE to watch multiple randomized playthroughs. The options seem to give this game incredible replayability.

You can even use the randomizer to start with any level of health, magic or attack as as well as any items.
I love randomizers. They breathe infinite life into classic games!
Maybe not right afterwords but I would be completely down with him coming back to this after another series or two as a randomizer.

Oh, come now! There is still New Game + with that mysterious door that only opens when you have the Triforce, there's the randomizer, you can continue this series as long as you like. I certainly wouldn't complain.
I can NOT believe he didn’t even try to get up on the roof. He knew there was something there too.
It is absolutely worth going up there.
How? It's just a shortcut portal. Since he's going to beat it and end the game it's pointless unless he loses all his lives. And given he has infinitely respawning magic and the protect fairy it's not likely.
But he’s still missing the upgraded fairy spell, which unfortunately the location is never hinted at or mentioned anywhere. That would be worth leaving and going back via the shortcut portal.

@@kyuubinaruto17 just a shortcut portal? So you can leave, heal up, save, and come back later without losing your progress. What if someone didn’t want to necessarily play the whole palace in one sitting trying to explore it all?
That Palace turned into a Bowser Castle with all those rotating flames.
I have got to say out of all your Zelda content, and I have watched every Zelda video you have ever made multiple times, this has got to be the best mod and the best Zelda series you have done yet. The amount of care and effort that went into making this Mod the definitive version of Zelda 2 and the dedication to making sure everything works properly and tweaking what didn't work in the first place makes this the best mod I've seen. And your walkthrough of this game already was amazing, but coming back to it in this new state I think you are the best person to make light of this fantastic mod. You have been dedicated to the Zelda franchise for a long time and I could not think of a better person to Showcase this then you Jared.
If you make more content on this I'll be here to watch it over and over again😊

I'll absolutely watch for 2nd Quest and Randomizer mode, it's a fantastic fan remake. And yeah, the new Great Palace is *massive,* I'm not surprised this is gonna be two episodes.
Only two? I don't know how much of it he's seen so far, but my instincts tell me the amount of backtracking that will have to be done once he finally finds the key will make it more than just one more episode.

TBH, if you played through the 2nd quest and immediately did a randomized run, I'd be down for that.

Things to remember from 1st game:
The final dungeon is a maze, but there is one true path. It has a 1-up doll, 3 fairy heals, and 7+ red foe/red magic jar locations.
Jared has been practicing his jumping skill. I hope you complete the map. Also put it on paper for 2nd quest. Hint hint!
As someone who didn't play much of Zelda 2, this remaster is fun to watch. Lot of content of Zelda Jared makes is fun! Same thing with randomizers and other mod hacks.

That giant slime is always a bit of a shock the first time you run into one.

Just laughing at the idea of Link and a giant slime epically falling and fighting like Gandalf and the Balrog
The upstab works really well against the Fokkas (those jumping bird knight guys).

My eldest brother sent this CZcams to me from your new series. Played this game back in the day. I was maybe 10 years old. Have fond memories gaming on the Nintendo. I was way angier than I needed to be when Jared ignored the warp mouth at the start of the palace. It's not THAT important but such a nice QoL addition.
When you get a map for the palaces... they get much bigger! 😀
It also kills me that you didn't do your favorite trope! "Good adventures go left!" It would have saved you a lot of pain!
At least he didn't do what I did. I found the first locked door there and I was like 'crap, I forgot to grab the master key' and hiked back only to remember that it was in the great palace once I arrived almost to where it used to be.

Hey, those large slimes always scared the crap out of me when I was a kid too, just a jump scare. That one was new, so don't feel bad that it got you there.
Also, those large bubbles used to split into 2 so I have no idea why that one didn't, but that probably explains why you didn't get xp when you killed it.
Those large bubbles still split in to 3, they split if you attack them and then wait for their stunlock period to end.

I know very little about Zelda 2, I never got that far with it. I agree with other comments that hope you do New Game + and go for the extra last secret (whatever that is 🤷♂️)

Okay, i am at this point just going to say where it is. From the point you started this video at in that small forest on its left side a the bottom where the three trees are in a row? You hamer the one in the middle and it will reveal a house where the wizard who turned you into a fairy fled to. He will try again to turn you into a fairy, and instead turns your "fairy" spell into the Cuckoo spell. It alows you to turn into and stay a Cukoo and even fight as one. To turn back you cast the spell again.
Hey Jerd, the best way to deal with those armored bird knights in the great palace is to play defensively, wait for them to jump over you, then upstab as they fly by. They became way easier once I figured that out.

I think a cool spell to add would be one that allows you to exit a dungeon immediately.
The spell for that last slot is 2nd Quest exclusive.

This seems like the definitive Zelda 2 game, if it were made by Nintendo themselves. Minus the Chicken spell, can't see them doing that.
