Hope he doesn’t forget about the spot that needs you to have a triforce
He did mention it twice in the video, so probably did not forget. 😊
@@callak_9974but if he doesn’t complete that spot the series can’t be completed
second playthrough, so i doubt hell do it. also, sad he hasnt found chicken mode
Unfortunately (spoilers maybe)
I think it can only be fully completed in second quest unless you can get that bottle from Zelda
@@Siriuhs1absolutely correct
Also here hoping for a second quest continuation of this :)
This.
Shadow: "Hah, you sure are cowardly! What are you, chicken?"
Jerd: "*YES*.", clucking with malicious intent.
"What are you, chicken?"
"Ba-kaw!"
Jared: "No more secrets to find"
Also Jared: has no idea...
Speaking of secrets...
Who else would love to see Jared play the Hidden gem ZELDA PANOPLY ?
Meanwhile: Red Stone face outside of great palace...
Oh yeah, he did skip that too (I forgot)
For those that are curious, its just a warp back to town 5
still didnt get the Cuckoo spell lol
@@seth2111 u wot? he just beat the game with it
You _can_ finish as a chicken. However, to stay a chicken between screen transitions, you have to had found the upgraded chicken spell in the woods near Nabaroo.
whaaat
I didn't know either. I just looked it up in a guide, but yeah you can use the hammer on the tile due south of the fairy in the woods and it will reveal a house. The guy will upgrade it.@@KairuHakubi
I can't tell if you're joking or not lol
@@torreywhiting5402 It's true. BUT I don't know if he would stay a chicken for the ending though
@@BillyLavoie oh cool
The blue slimes are doing a ton of damage in memory of Akira Toriyama
Wait, isn't the prototype of the Slime King in this palace
Jared beat himself with link's one true weakness: the cucoo.
Jared: "I wish this had alternate sprites"
Hoverbat: literally beta testing a new build on his stream with exactly that
After reading all the comments I'm convinced you need to do a second quest playthrough. And not even just the highlights, do the whole thing Jared please.
If you have the upgraded Fairy spell into the Cucco spell, then beat Dark Link as a Cucco, the ending WILL change slightly.
It's hilarious. XD
There's a spell he missed in his playthrough that I think would've made the ending much better for him. I don't know if he's gotten a clue about it yet, but it's in a cabin that requires logging just south of a fairy in a small forest on the East continent.
You gotta do the 2dn quest man!! the people need to know! (well, atleast I do :D )
Would be really cool to see him do second quest on stream. Anyone else or that just me?
Is there a big enough difference?
Sort of...
Most of the changes are small details, Like the boss rooms
But, there is also an entire extra area added past the Triforce locked gate (Jared saw the gate in an earlier episode)
@@Meowmix-42 I want to see Jared's reaction to the 2nd Quest ending. I want to see his mind get blown the same way mine did when I first played it!
Jared just futilely pecking at Shadow Link as a chicken for 10 straight minutes feels like a screen saver.
Is it futile if it worked?
That was a great show with Chicken Link. It would’ve been hilarious if they actually had animations for the chicken for the ending.
They totally should have, but I don't really mind, so much care and attention was put into this version of the game that it's still the best way to play the game.
You actually can stay Cucco Link at the end, but you need the upgraded spell for it
At the end the old man was just "Screw this i don't care anymore!" proceeds to plonk Triforce on the chicken
And reading the comments throughout this journey this NEEDS a second playthrough for sure.
2nd quest! gooooooo
Zelda 2 is one of my favorites. This remake is such a sweet continuation without taking away from the true essence of the original. I love how incorporating some of the themes from later games were also seamlessly integrated into this game like the master sword. It helps tie this game into the series a bit better and not make it feel as much out of place.
I looked forward to each of these episodes every day and it was such a joy to live this classic all over again in a fresh new way. Thank you.
These were AMAZING five weeks! Was looking forward to each and every episode and second. Always watched the videos immediately. :D
It was nice to see a dedicated fan appreciate every improvement, item etc. Please show us the missing secrets in the near future. 💜
I believe hoverbat put a good couple years into this, he is still tweaking the game 👍
Thank you so much!
I really hope you will play the second quest, there is new puzzle, village, spell, dungeon and boss
And he missed out on the cucco upgrade too
Also two new items.
This has been a terrific series! This is the best way to experience well-made retro style games. Not a lot of hyperbole or shtick; just playing through and making offhand comments as necessary while explaining the thought process. Once again, shoutout to the developers and contributors for this Remastering. Every addition is great, and really fulfills the promise of the original game.
So this is the Finale of first quest normal mode, Right Jared?!? You're going to do 2nd Quest with randomizer as a separate series so you can experience the fresh new endgame content, the additional town, and that AMAZING Ganon fight at the end of the 2nd quest, RIGHT JARED!?!?! That's What You're DOING, RIGHT JARED?!?
In all seriousness, without all caps, the game is totally worth the 2nd playthrough, especially for a childhood fan of the game (like myself, as well as Jared): it's really something else to experience and you gotta do it, Jared.
Jared... in all seriousness, this wasn't a question... now are you going to B a nice good youtuber and show us all this remake has to offer, or do we need to summon.... him.....
why on Earth would you spoil this for him? You should delete this seriously.
@@tehphilosoraptor42 i'm not spoiling anything, i just made a Bees refference and another refference to another old game he did, remember he worked allot with peebs aswell.
@tehphilosoraptor42 a bit harsh for 1, and for 2 jared hasn't hinted at doing the 2nd playthrough to my knowledge (I haven't had time to watch this) but knowing jared he likes yo leave things unfinished and it is one of the flaws I hate about his playthroughs.
@@tehphilosoraptor42 I spoil nothing, I entice Jared to continue.
This game has been in it's original form and this remake, and will always be a slog to get through; it takes Determination, I'm just trying to add Motivation... as far as Jared thinks it's just Developer Island beyond that door, I want him to know its not
For the longest time I was sour on this game and not really sure why. I was really able to appreciate it, because of how much you enjoyed it. This was a great series and we gotta find out what’s behind that triforce door!
Well, there is still the triforce gate😊
Dark Link finally experiencing the terror that are pissed off Cuccos.
i really hope this is not the FINAL episode. so much more to this game.
Yeah adventure 2 has a bunch of cool stuff
Actually a link vs ganon.
Huh, so a chicken is the ultimate bane of Links
Ever attack the chicken too many times in Zelda games??
Always has been!
Link's weakness was always cuccos. This was fate.
18:00 Such a nice feeling seeing the item screen all completely full.
I know Link is generally a silent protagonist, but I like to imagine that Shadow Link pops out of Link and said "You have no hope of defeating me. I'm the better version of you. I have none of your weakness." And then Link says: "No. You have none of my FEATHERS! B'GAWK!"
SECOND QUEST!!!
+1
👍
Second quest!
Shadow Jerd. Killed by Chicken.
Final episode? I refuse! I demand MOAR!
8:26 THE MASTER KEY!!! I guess that's why Jared wasn't finding any keys, since you get this one.
He's a chicken, I tell you! A giant chicken!
But Dark Link did not notice.
You wear a disguise to look like human guys…
He cast the Fairy Spell, and gave his dark side hell, but he's not a man, he's a Chicken-Link.
"Now THAT'S comedy." - Impa
He pecked him to death.😂 I also noticed that the chicken’s top flap of skin is blue when he has protect on. 👍🏼
I just wanted to say thank you for playing through this game. It was because of your enthusiasm that I gave it a shot, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Zelda II was my first "real game" as a child, so this remastering brought me back to that joy of discovery that I felt all those years ago.
we all know that chickens are the mortal enemy of link so this bossfight checks out lol
Please Jared do the second quest. It will be worth it.
Jared... Come on! The Triforce door opens like an hour of additional content. There really is a lot more to see here.
Thanks for playing this through. Works of love like this remake deserve to be shown to the world.
Jerd you are a true hero of Hyrule.
15:15 - 15:35
Jared, after taking 6 hits from basic blue slimes in one straight hallway: "These slimes do a lot of damage" XDDD
Jared makes the best chicken sounds. I'm so happy to have witnessed that epic dark Link battle. I do hope we get to see the last bit of secrets in this remaster, it's been such a joy to watch.
Excellent crossover between Animaniacs and Zelda at the end. “You think you’re a man, but you’re not you’re a chicken, Link.”
_You wear a disguise to look like Hylian guys, but you're not a man, you're a kokko Link_
"this is a progress hole"
Aye, that it is!
Arise, chicken!
Great playthrough , hoverbat is still tweaking some things. The horn head boss, chicken mode, he can't hit you unless hoverbat made chicken a touch taller. Def can get a lot of videos with this remake, all the random modes, music options (no copyright & some good music, effects changes) 2nd quest, new adventure
Shadow Link knowing not to attack a cucco is both wise and hilarious.
Found this channel when the first episode went up. Never heard of this remake thing but super glad I found these vids! This has been a very fun and entertaining playthrough! Thanks for the playthrough and looking forward to see more from the channel!
Thank you for this playthrough. Never seen it before and i love your zelda videos( i know others have done it but i only really watch Jared play zelda games). My mother passed away last week and the past month it was really nice to have something to give me some nostalgia(with a new twist) and some peace for a half hour every couple days. Hope it becomes a full video like your other zelda randomizers. Hope you do the 2nd quest everyones been talking about. Take care and Thank you.
My sincerest condolences on the loss of your beloved Mother, Dirk! It's heartbreakingly dreadful to lose a parent. Stay strong, brother. I wish you well.
@@MIDNIGHT0521 I appreciate that. Thank you, be safe.
I'd love to see you show the final section as a bonus chapter. As a bit of necessary backstory, according to the original NES instruction book, the enemies were planning on using Link's blood to resurrect Ganon (which explains the red game over screen and "Return of Ganon").
Jerd, this might be my favorite playthrough I have seen you do.
Thanks for all the fun. Can’t wait to see you get back into this whether it is second quest or rando.
You are the best man!
This was a fantastic time, watching it all the way through from day one. I’m extremely curious on the changes on a second quest. I hope you continue this. Thank you.
Please do second quest.
A chicken defeating shadow link for the triforce is all Link's chicken issues all summed up.
9:33 - The gap is actually exactly the same width as the original (2 tiles wide).
17:54 - Assuming you were referring to 1-up doll (which I'm assuming is the case, giving your degree of surprise at finding it) and not the P-bag, yes, that 1-up actually was there in the same spot in the original.
This was an awesome adventure, and a fun series, for a rendition of a game I have great nostalgia for! Thank you very much for doing a while series through it, and thank you to the content creators who took the time to do this, and make it wonderful! 😊
Jared:
After every series, you often say 'Please comment below if you'd like to see more'. We are replying in the comments that we want to see more. You have not yet experienced everything the game has to offer.
Please continue into the Second Quest. I won't spoil why, but you will be happy you did. The second playthrough goes faster than the first (since you have all of the spells, you can sequence break, and since you have max level, bosses wilt before you). There aren't a LOT of changes until the end of the game, but you will be glad that you did. You have yet to see some of the best parts of this remaster.
Loved the series, I cannot believe the love put into this remaster. Zelda 2 deserves so much love.
I absolutely loved this playthru. Please find something like this again soon! ❤
it's been awhile since I was this excited for episodes to drop of anything. kudos on the series!
That family guy bit during the final boss battle was amazing!
So, Jared, if you want to do the Triforce door stuff NOW there's a much easier way: Start a randomizer playthrough. The randomizer options would let you start on second quest WITH every item, upgrade, and levelup you have now. Only downside is that it only allows you to do a minimum of one dungeon to enter the Great Palace, and you'd have to do the Great Palace again. Although... there is one specific new item besides the bottle that's 2nd quest exclusive.
Anyone who's done a randomizer of 2nd quest, is that item locked to the bonus area, or can it be found ANYWHERE like normal randomizer stuff? If it's the latter then the plan is a bust.
Chicken mode finale is the greatest thing this channel has ever produced.
Thank you for sharing this with us, Jared. I was able to download and play this for myself a little bit, and I liked it so far. It’s a great modern update for a game like Zelda 2. It makes me wonder what a Nintendo-made remake of this game would be like. It was really too bad we couldn’t see the ultimate cucoo showdown.
Thanks for the play through, Jared. It's basically been my breakfast show over here, in a way answering the fact that I never saw the Zelda cartoon as a kid.
Link trained with the most fearsome warriors in Hyrule. The Cuccos.😆
You might not be the first to go Cuccoo vs Dark Link, but you might be the first to do it without upgrading the Cuccoo spell
I'll be here when you come back to this game again, whether it's for 2nd Quest or Rando-mode, it's just a fantastic remake.
that chicken fight is one of the most badass moments on this channel
After this humiliation, Dark Link had to change his name to "Jim the Knight", completely disgraced by his loss to an undercooked chicken.
I'd love if you continued this for the second quest, I personally don't have time/energy to play this but watching it on CZcams at 2.5x speed is great fun.
Its interesting slimes are such a theme for the last palace despite being a basic enemy.
Are they secretly the primordial evil pushing Ganon to come back? Beta Malice/Gloom?
Is Dark Link just a slime mimic? Are the monsters evolved from slimes? Are slimes the driving force that separated the bridge boyfriends and stole the town’s water??
We need a Jared theory raft deepdive here.
"What happens if I do that?" Your mind will be blown when you find out! We must see it!
Fighting Dark Link as a chicken kinda bugs the boss out and makes it way harder as he stays just barely outside your strike range and you have no shield (kinda). You have to do the 2nd quest, sooooo much stuff in it. You should also unlock the shortcut at the Great Palace, as it takes you back to the church building in Mido.
[MASSIVE SPOILERS]
- All of the palace bosses have some new gimmick to them, either a new attack or a changed arena, i.e. Horsehead will throw his mace if you stay at a distance and the swamp boss has a bot spawner plus the room has a swamp floor, hindering your movement. Horsehead also reappears in the sea palace, which is actually a nod to the Japanese version where he also appears (in the room right before the fake wall).
- Some of the dark rooms have torches removed and stay dark.
- The downstab upgrade now requires the gloves, there will be blocks covering the hole otherwise.
- Most everything else is largely unchanged. Dark Link boss music is different in the 2nd quest and is much more frantic sounding.
- Two new items, the "jar" that you got at the end of the video, and a monster mask.
- A new town, Bulblin, full of monsters. Will be hostile to enter unless you have the mask, after which it functions like a normal town but with monsters instead of people. This town also contains the path to the final final area, as well as the only new spell, Summon, which is only used at Dragmire Tower (does nothing otherwise).
- The aforementioned mask is locked behind a push block puzzle in a hidden cave. Said cave has an "example" of where the blocks should go in a separate room.
- Both the path beyond the Triforce door and the path to Dragmire Tower are considerably more difficult. The "raft ride" is particularly annoying. A couple areas have the bounce blobs which are required to pass through. Some of them are over dangerous water, adding to the danger.
- The Ganon boss has 3 phases, in particular the 2nd phase is instant death if you don't finish it in time.
- Both Dragmire Tower and Ganon phase 3 have new unique music, at least in the latest version of the game.
- Dragmire Tower has a shortcut that leads to another short cave, which in turn has a shortcut that goes back to Nabooru. You will want to unlock this.
- The rando-mode can do some really silly things depending on what you change that can either make the game easier or nearly impossible. Random enemies levels 1 and 2 only swap a handful of enemies. Level 3 full on swaps every actor of another. Level 4 is fully randomized enemies with no particular swaps. I did level 3 once and it traded all the bots for orange lizalfos and vice versa, this made just getting OUT of North Castle really hard (they will one shot you at lvl 1 life and only 3 life bars) and they were NUMEROUS in the Great Palace. On a 2nd attempt I did a level 4 swap and got a random encounter that consisted of a blue fokka (bird knight), a doomknocker, a wizard, and several smaller enemies.
Great playthrough and I enjoyed it a lot. I hope it won't take to long until you do the second quest and that you show it all. Thank you!
This was well worth watching, and I’m always down to see more!
I really appreciated this playthrough. As a kid I hated(!) Zelda 2, but watching this really changed my mind about it. Jared's passion is infectious
No! Jared, you’re not done! You didn’t even find the secret 9th spell! I demand a 100% chicken run!!
Fantastic play through as always. Excited for when you return for second quest shenanigans!
Incredibly worth seeing the chicken fight!
29:41
"This is what ya'll came here to see right?"
Yer goddamn right it is
Play the 2nd quest so you can see what's behind the triforce wall. It's exactly the same as the 1st quest up until this point, so no need to film the entire 2nd quest. Just start at the Dark Link fight.
This was a very long journey, congrats Jared. A winner is you!
XD Dark Link is like "Wtf is even happening right now?!". Not knowing how to deal with Cucco Link =P
8:27 killed Gooma #2 (acquired magic key) ✅
15:00 this is magic (blue) bottle farming location to "max-out" resources before you fight mini-bosses.
18:00 acquired all quest items (except fairy spell lvl 2 upgrade) ✅
22:10 sword/magic/defense are lvled - up to 9 ✅
Chicken win would be fun! (Don't jump ever! Just attack ankles in corners.) ✅ 32:00 and time!
Extra bottle acquired from Zelda after ng+ ✅
Things to remember from 1st game:
17:31 (1-up doll) -> left & (fairy heal) -> right 17:55 (wrong!)
Thunderbird -> (protect, reflect, jump, thunder, (heal is possible in this version with a long fight!))
Jared did well on this attempt (missing a couple of stuff). Jumping, jumping, jumping! Not a "jump king" !
Watching a video of the ending removing the curtain, zelda actually just hugs link, and I can't wait for Season 2 of Zelda 2 Remastered!
"He pops out like 'I'm you but stronger' and I'm like '...Bcaw'"
That was fantastic! Awesome job dude!
30:28
I mean... it certainly takes courage. Arguably power as well. Wisdom... well, two out of three ain't bad.
And that's how links in carnations knew to fear all chickens
You definitely want to put the 2nd quest Dark Link fight on camera. That's the start of the endgame.
Still didn't open up the warp point behind the Great Palace. You can either climb over using the Jump spell and the pillar at the main entrance, or just leave and reenter the palace from the north.
That was a fun series! Thanks for the play through!
Can't wait to see you try the 2nd quest! 🤘
If Jared ever returns to this for its 2nd quest, he will have *even more* of a blast with it.
29:40 "This is what y'all came to see, right?"
Yes, yes it is. Thank you, Jared.
This was such a fun series! Always an absolute pleasure to see you play through a Zelda game :)
FINALE is not what I wanted to see. I wish he would atleast check out that Triforce door.
Link has truly established the new pecking order.
So awesome! Great playthrough!!!
