Difficult to make an absolute prediction on the next fight based on this most recent fight alone. Joshua will have studied Andy Ruiz. Thats not to say that Ruiz hasn't learnt a lot from Joshua too and gained a huge amount of confidence from his win but this kind of thing reminds me of Tiger Woods coming back to win the masters. Champions don't go away so easily. whether it be Ruiz or Joshua i'm sure both fighters will do whatever it takes (within the rules of the sport) to give them the best chance of taking home the belt when the rematch comes around. He needs a new trainer to begin with. Rob has been great but there's nothing more he can teach Josh. It's time to move on.
Josh needs to get himself a new trainer and start from scratch, build his way back up and reinvent his style.
Basically, Josh needs to do what Lennox did when this happened.
Jumping straight back in with Ruiz is far too risky. He needs to step back and learn from his mistakes.
If he loses in the rematch, it's detrimental to his career as a whole.
Start a fresh and take the world by storm for a second time. That should be the plan.

He's got no chance of winning the rematch. 6 months isn't enough to recover from a beat down like that, especially when you won't have the benefit of your magic juice in the US.

And no....AJ didn't let Ruiz gain confidence....Ruiz alway had confidence in fighting AJ.
AJ didn't respect Ruiz power and thats what caused his downfall.

When tyson lost it was such an incredible shock because he NEVER looked vulnerable and destroyed everything in his path like no one before or since. He took good shots on the way up and looked solid and totally unstoppable.lennox had never shown any weakness around the chin in his 20 plus fights or amateur career when McCall caught him so again a massive upset.
Joshua however was wobbling and teetering on the edge of disaster against whyte, povetkin and vlad so the Ruiz upset although still a surprise is nowhere near as big an upset as Douglas and McCall.
