Bodies don't just break down on its own - you have to get hit and he wasn't getting the protection he needed for his style of play. It didn't help that he held the ball way too long at times, which can be dangerous in more ways than one.
A guy who in the previous five full regular seasons had the chance to start 80 games and missed 30 of them because of an injury didn’t have his body suddenly break down this year. The entire reason he isn’t in SF any longer is because the dude is always injured. In the four full seasons in SF before last year he had missed basically two of the four seasons because he was hurt. Last season he stepped in and was winning games until he got hurt again and missed the final six games. This season he’s missed two because he’s been hurt. If the dude wasn’t hurt all the time he’d still be the starter in SF because while he was never an elite QB when he was healthy in SF they win games. In the two seasons he wasn’t hurt they went to the Super Bowl and the conference championship. Last season in the ten games he started they were 7-3. Clearly even if the dude has always been middle tier talent wise the niners won when he played and the entire reason he is even in LV is because he just can’t stay healthy. But a guy like Brou can’t be serious in acting like this is some result of age if you simply consider that it’s basically how it’s been for his entire career. It’s a shame because clearly a team could succeed with him if he could’ve just stayed healthy.

Jimmy G's career record as a starter is 43-20. He's started 63 games, which is basically 4 seasons, and Broussard is comparing the physical toll of his injuries to Cam Newton, who set NFL records for rushing yards and TDs by a QB, and 40 year old Peyton Manning who started over 280 NFL games including the playoffs.

@theproperenglishman Did you watch him play Monday nigjt against the Lions? I was someone who held out hope for Jimmy G. He was missing wide open Davante Adams downfield. Any pass past 15 yards seemed impossible most of the time. I don't think it's all his fault, but he shares blame with Mcdaniels. Haven't offensively scored more than 20 points this season.
As a Chiefs fan, I'm sad McDaniels was fired, so congrats!!! 😂👏👏 Now I'm just a bit worried the Chargers are eventually gonna catch on and fire Staley 😅

He got hurt two starts (didn't even finish the second game) into his career when he filled in for Brady during his suspension.
In Six years with SF, he had only two seasons where he didn't miss multiple games due to injury.
Dude was so injury prone that SF ran him out of town when their other options are Trey Lance and Brock Purdy.
Sending Carr out the door for nothing in return and replacing him with Jimmy G was proof he's out of his depths. It was one of the worst GM/HC moves I've seen in years.
Add to that: McDaniels seems to poison the pond he's swimming in almost immediately - the guy is a cancer - he seems nice but somehow he IS the problem.
Bad Personnel decisions / Dumb contracts / Zero quality wins / Poisoning the atmosphere /

@@Lazyfoalas a Broncos fan, I think Raider Nation needs to start holding the Davis regime more accountable. After Mr. Bowlen passed, our franchise was in turmoil, as you've seen. The new Walton-Penner group has come in and immediately started making things better, a lot of which national media never reports. The atmosphere of the franchise is considerably better, and hopefully translates into more wins. But I don't see Davis having much backing from the fanbase after moving the team away from their real fans. He has a LOT of work to do, and doesn't 'appear' to be doing anything that matters. But after seeing what happened to my Broncos, I believe ownership matters way more than most people realize.

Jimmy G is and has been garbage for years and was propped up by Shanahan. He was the best of the garbage Kyle had to work with at that point.
Jimmy started promising in that first season then blew out his knee and was never the same.
Pretty much every Niners fan was ready to throw him away once we saw a game of Brock. Maybe Brock is held up by Shanahan, but he’s miles better than Jimmy has been for years.
McDaniels blew the Patriots' chance at a perfect season by taking WAY too long to adjust his game plan to account for the Giants' pass rush. Brady just kept standing back there looking for the long ball and getting pummeled. in the second half they started on quicker routes and passes and all of a sudden they were able to move the ball a little. I will never forgive him for that.

I still can't believe how little importance Nick gave to the fact that Jimmy G was running for his life on Monday, he missed those throws to Adams because the protection lasted like one second, go watch the game again. And while you're at it, check the guy who went diving directly into his knees, ffs, how Jimmy G didn't end with a tore ACL, no one knows. He's a good QB but you can bring Joe Montana without OLine protection and he would look just the same.
This is why I was worried for Rodgers during that first series of downs before he tore the achilles. The O-line was doing squat to protect him so I could sense this would be a tough game for him. Just didn't expect that kind of injury so soon.

Nick's problem is that unless a QB is Patrick Mahomes or Trevor Lawrence... he thinks they're inadequate with no redeeming qualities... it's insane and it's why someone else should assemble the QB's on Mahomes Mountain.
I think when some players weren't traded, a slight "mutiny" may have occurred, prompting the late firing and how long it took to name interims. Maybe I'm wrong but it just makes the most sense, imo.
