- Here's a tour-ific behind the scenes look at my CZcams studio setup. The basic layout has been the same for a while, but there have been a lot of changes behind the scenes, including new cameras, lights, and more!
*I should clarify that when I say the Sony A7IV "just kinda showed up," I bought it at full price- I just didn't expect it to be delivered quickly.

Episode 281: CZcams & Streaming Studio Tour 2022 | New Cameras, Lights, and More - Krátké a kreslené filmy
It's honestly just nice to see a workspace that's not black with the same Ikea drawers, pegboard, neon light and "Create More" (or similar) picture that so many people seem to have.
I’m glad you said it and not me 😉
Wow blown away by how cool it is! Its so much stuff but the way you have organized it and used the lighting still makes it look clean and simple.
Great video. Lot's of fun taking a tour of your studio. I'm a bass player since I'm 13. My dad bought me a Fender Precision (Pre-CBS) natural wood of which I swapped the pickups for a set of Dimarzio's. Best bass ever...and it got stolen during a burglary. Never saw it again. So it was fun watching you show off your guitars. I later went with an Ibanez SK500(?). It was a fun bass, but didn't come close to my Fender Precision. Also had a Kustom II 80W bass amp which was the bomb. Ah... those were the days. Thanks! 😊👍🏼✨
Ahh man so sorry to hear about the stolen bass. I’d love to have a true P Bass one day myself.
Its so cool to see how your studio has changed and grown (in a good way) as your CZcams channel has. Keep it up!
Thanks! It's a fun thing to constantly evolve.
@@tombuck 👍🙂
Always love watching this type of videos! Really interesting to see how other people set up their space to optimise their workflow. Great video!
Thanks for sharing your journey and the meaning and purpose of the equipment utilized in your studio.
I’m glad you enjoyed it!
I've totally deep dived into your lighting videos.Absolutely love how clean and flat your lighting setup is. nothing too poppy. Just straight studio lit up.
Absolutely love the wall display showing off your mic locker. That is something I will have to remember down the road.
I’m really glad I did it! Much better than keeping them in drawers/boxes.
I love the way you are not just a really helpful creator, but you are more than that. You are a comunication geek that have all what we dream to have! Grettings from your Mexican follower Tom!!
Great video, great set-up. good to see behind the scenes of your vary professional looking (and hearing) videos. David
Thanks so much David!
Fun! I really enjoy seeing all the different ways folks organize, prioritize and get work done. Soon, you will need a whole room for the vintage cams!
Haha that’d be awesome. I love watching videos about people’s setups 👍
Blue color is Amasing!
I love it! 💙
This is just totally and absolutely crazy!!! Love it BTW.
Thanks so much! It means a lot to hear that 🙏
the best studio equipment i've seen on youtube
Hey thanks! It's been a fun thing to evolve over the years.
the old cameras bring back some good and bad memories I used to borrow my churches GL2s for wedding left one on top of my car and it fell off while going 65 on the highways. Amazingly enough it survived.
Churches always have some pretty great A/V gear. I even found an eBay seller that’s specifically focused on selling old church equipment 😁
This is awesome! Great work
Thanks so much Ben!
A very nice insight, thank you Tom!
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it!
Wonderful fun, Tom, thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love your videos. I enjoy the format of your show and you have a great presentation! Keep it up!
Thank you so much! 🙏
Thanks for sharing this set up!
This was a great tour! Very entertaining!
Thank you sir!
Yeeee! Guitar presentation! Good job!!!
I couldn’t resist 😬
Thank you so much for this Tom
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is one of my favorite studio setups. It just seems like a great place to chill and get creative.
Thank you! That's definitely what I've tried to do with it.
Such a great video!
Makes me feel better about just having a ZV-1.
Your content has helped me realize there’s more to content creation then the gear. When starting out, actually making content is so much more important then having the perfect gear.
I’ll finally give up stalling and start soon, thank you.
Thanks Jacob! The ZV-1 is a super capable and fun camera. I started my channel with the RX100V, which is basically an older and less fully featured version and it worked perfectly. It was fun to add more gear later on as it made sense (and also just for fun since I enjoy it). 👍
Nice to see the inside scoop of the updated studio :)
Thanks Ash!
Great tour! I can’t believe how much gear you can put in one room😉
Great monitor stand, just what I need!
So many years of experience!
Thanks for sharing 👍
Great collection Tom love it
Great set up man. Thanks for walking us through your kit.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Canony Fanboys Unit! So much has changed yet still feels very familiar! Authentically you.
Of all the gear, the drum are top!
I'd have so much more space if I moved the drums to a different room, but I don't think I can bring myself to do that.
17:35 Your "messy" closet is cleaner and more organized than my cleanest, most organized space!! lol
I completely reorganized it almost immediately after making this video and now it’s perfect!
czcams.com/video/Ka1fGRVCL4c/video.html
Fantastic to see how far the studio has come over the coming years. Great breakdown Tom.
Thanks James! It's a fun work in progress!
@@tombuck All studios are! Look forward to seeing how it continues to grow over the coming years 🙂
Great Tour. I wish I can pull of the dad jokes as well as you do. Lol.. Blessings
Haha, years of practice 😬
Such an epic room!
Thanks you! 🙏
Always love a good studio tour video! 👍
Can't wait for yours!
Love the look of your studio, for real. Great colour, great setup - as a PDP User - a meeeh Drumset 🤣 - very nice Wall styling with those images and Mics. It looks so clean and great - well done! Great tech ofc - but you know that already :)
Haha thanks Michael I really appreciate it 😁
Great job, Tom!
Thanks so much Sam!
Tom Buck for CZcamsr of the Year!
🏆😁
Tom your setup is amazing for everything!
Thanks as always Sammy!
Always loving the dry puns! 🤣👍🏼👍🏼 Awesome set up!
Much better than wet puns 😬
@@tombuck true!🤣🤣👍🏼✌🏼
Great video, but I gotta say that what stuck with me the most was your "Gaff barn doors" on the Aputure MC's 👊🏽 love it 💯 Git-r-Done Junkie style 😜 🔥
Haha, good eye! I did that to stop the light from shining through the cracks in that little cabinet. Super distracting!
Always with these silly puns… I LOVE IT! 👏
Thanks for the studio update! I take cymbolic and a multi-theremin every morning. Looking forward to a feature video "best of the dog cam." Now I've got G.A.S. (gear acquisition syndrome) for surf green and seafoam green guitars. I love the classic colors so I'm currently building a Strat with a Burgundy Mist body. Peace always to Tom the tech maestro.
Cool video! Thxs for sharing!
Every time the Aquabats poster was in frame my mind went straight to Superrad on repeat!
Awesome tour! Crazy how far cameras have come in just 20 years considering that was a professional high end camera!
Right?! I love the build quality/features, but just about any phone will give a better image.
Great tour! I watched the first one last year and this was a nice update. Wondering if you've considered a pegboard +/- workbench in the closet for charging station and staging area to set up camera equipment and keep charged batteries?
Your ICON Pro looks SO good!!!
It definitely completes the setup 😎
Those iFootage "Spider-crab" are GREAT! you just never know when you will use them but I use them ALL the TIME (I now have 3). Glad you finally came over to Sony. I still say your setup looks great and when GeraldUndone did his look at all these CZcamsr setups yours was one of the best in the bunch!
Ahh shackles, thank you! The iFootage stuff is really good. I definitely want to get some more since it comes in handy so often.
Lovely Tom!
Many thanks!
Amazing setup Tom :)
Thanks Andre!
I’ve had that Batis 85mm for a few years now. Absolutely love it!
Oh my gosh, it's so good! I've never had an 85 before.
Very good video. Very entertaining. I would have loved to be a student in your class, but of course that would have been impossible, since I am older than you are. Very fun and informative videos. The passion you show when you talk about your gear is contagious. Good for you. Keep up the good work. Thank you for your reviews.
Thank you so much for the kind words! It really means a lot to hear 🙏
Lovely spot man.👍🏾
Thanks very much!
Cool stuff..
Looking forward to your notes and review of the A7 IV!
Not enough adjectives to describe your setup and studio Tom, so I’ll just say “AWESOME “! I’m still “building “ my setup and studio, your studio is my inspiration, space is definitely at a premium Lol. Great video and thanks for sharing !
Thanks for the kind words! It’s always a work in progress, but I think it’s fun to be creative with making small spaces work 👍
Only just catching up with your back catalogue and this is not a CZcams Studio Tour as advertised - more an autobiographical tour de force an evolutionary documentary walk down memory lane, thank you for giving us a sneaky peak into your tech journey it’s inspiring to see your development loved it
Maybe that's a good kind of clickbait? 😁
First off Tom, I'm glad YT suggested your channel. I'm in the midst of starting a video podcast for my channel and another I help manage and everything I need to know from mics to streaming gear is all here! Not to mention your production quality and value. You are also very "punny" hahaha! I've been binge watching all your content these last few days. Really love your studio as we share similar interests. I'm also a musician, as music is my first love and coincidentally I have a Mapex kit too, it's an older early 2000 Mapex Saturn maple/walnut shells. I did have an Armory as well for a short time but ended up selling it as I didn't need another full sized kit. I also have a Ludwig Break Beats kit that I use mainly now for practice and gigs. Appreciate the tour! A lot of the gear you have is what I'm working my way towards but very happy with what I have at the moment. Keep up the great content! I'm very surprised that you are not at least at 100K but I know you'll get there is no time. I can see this channel blowing up even more!
Thanks so much! I'm glad you found me! I love the Mapex kit- mine is from 2015 and has been fantastic. I'd wanted to learn the drums from the time I was 10, but I had to wait until I had a house to get a kit. Was finally able to do it just before my 30th birthday 👍
@@tombuck Same with me, I was in my 30's at the time we moved to a house. My wife got me a used Probeat Kit from a friend she knew and I still have it. Bless her heart but it wasn't the greatest kit out there and so began my search and my G.A.S hahaha! By the way loved see those old school Canon cameras, I always wanted that GL2. I collect retro cameras from a 1900's Kodak Brownie to a Yashica FX-103 film camera.
Such an awesome setup! You sure have a nice collection now!!
Thank you so much!
Tom the MASTER of puns ! If I could ever find a Sony A7Siii I’d be rocking one. Nice studio setup
I’ve been following your quest to find a Sony! Crazy how rare they are now.
I highly recommend a bright yellow for that backdrop paper. Big fan.
That's a great idea! I'd been thinking of pink or purple, but yellow really does pop.
Thanks for the tour, Tom!! A great vid as always. What monitor arm do you use and what's your monitor size? Do you really like it?
I have a video on the arm, I forget the brand but it was pretty affordable on Amazon. My monitor is a 34" LG ultrawide. It's not 4K or anything, but I really do like it a lot.
@@tombuck ok. I will look for the video... I watch ALLLLLLLL your videos....😂😂😂 sooooooo......
What a great set up, Tom. Can you provide the link of the Manfroto tripod you use as well as the boom arm that you attached to it? Thank you so much.
Sure thing! This is my tripod: bhpho.to/3lRoTyz and this is the boom: bhpho.to/3fxlHop
The boom is attached to the tripod using one of these quick releases: bhpho.to/3HCIPy0
The iFootage stuff isn't cheap, but it's REALLY well made.
Awesome video, thank you for all the info. By the way, I love all The Aquabats posters. Those are Super Rad. ;)
Tell your mom, tell your dad!
Nice bright studio. :)
Thank you! I’m a fan of bright colors. 😬
Insane setup! Everything seems so streamlined. I love having the older camcorder footage thrown in, would be cool to see more about those. Also I had no clue a pop filter like at 15:45 existed for the PodMic. The PodMic is such a nice looking mic but every regular pop filter covers nearly all of it. I assume it works well? A great concept, found it on etsy and ordered :D
So glad it was helpful! And yes,cid definitely love to do some videos made entirely with the old cameras at some point 😁
Hi Tom. Just came across your channel and I like the content so much. Wondering how do you keep all the things from Dust!!!
Your sick colour scheme gives me an instant dopamine hit, love it 👌
I love hearing that! 😎
Thank you for all your videos .. inspiring … I feel like I not even born yet when I see your level and skills and excellence but at least, thank to you, I know where to start
Haha, thanks Bruno! It's all just learning in baby steps. I wish I could show this video to myself from 5 years ago 😁
Do you have one master switch that turns everything off at once when you’re leaving the office? That’s a lot of switches lol
I WAS GOING TO ASK YOU TO DO THIS, THANKS BRO
Loving the studio. It's interesting that you mounted your mini under your desk because I just bought a media centric mount to do the exact same thing. I was really looking for something that would allow me to mount the mini and hagbis hub together but couldn't find anything. What did you do to mount your hub?
I actually just used the same mount for the hub. There’s extra space above it, but it doesn’t hurt anything.
Ben is beautiful. Goldens are the best!
He's the best boy. In fact, I think I need to give him some pets right now.
cymbalic lol well played!
This video is brought you by Pavo Tube! They are everywhere! hahah Joke aside, great to see the behind the scene and all, I have a almost same size studio where I do tech reviews, it's good to see other creators' habitat! 🤘⚡
The PavoTubes are absolutely awesome and definitely contribute to the enjoyment of my habitat 😁
@@tombuck I know what you mean, I got 2 little ones Pavo Tube II 6C and just received 2 godox TL60 yesterday, shot on aroll and got amazing results! cant wait to do more stuff with it! Cheers, dude!
Did you upgrade your mic? Just saw your live tonight and mic sounds great. Is it a different one from this video? If so which mic did you use on the rcp 2 live ?
It was the Sennheiser MKH50, which I’ve been using since January-ish 👍
Thanks for the tour Tom ! I use a canon R5 no wonder my CZcams channel sucks.
My Canon/Sony gripes are honestly very nitpicky- the R5 is an amazing camera.
West Texas contains multitudes, Chuck
Hey Tom! So cool to see your studio tour. Looks awesome! I followed the links to the Camera Conundrum and listened to both parts…all the way through! It was like a therapy session, cause I’ve been on that same GAS journey with the pull of the FX3, in particular, for the last year and more, but I ultimately had the pressure completely relieved by the release of the R5C. I decided to stay in the Canon ecosystem for the glass I already own and (ironically) for the screen quality and comfort (16:9, ability to scrub through footage, change iso and f-stop on that lovely sliding interface etc). Those little things matter when all else is equal! BTW On your podcast, you kept talking about those who were “watching the podcast” and I haven’t been able to figure out where I could find that video! Can you point me to the video platform for the podcast and of course….what do you think of the R5C? 😊
Thanks for taking the time to check out those episodes! It's funny how so many of us have these same dilemmas. You're totally right about Canon's playback features & screens being better. I definitely miss that.
I upload videos versions of some episodes to my Patreon and YouTUbe Channel Membership as a fun little perk. I don't do it for every episode, just ones where there's something visual that I think would be neat to see.
Amazing setup lol why haven’t you made a video on the earthworks icon mic yet just wondering as you have it attached to a mic arm on your desk already
I keep meaning to, but I want to do a bit of a deep dive into Earthworks' company history, and I think that's made the project feel a little overwhelming. It's silly, I know.
@@tombuck Yh i know lol well I’m going to keep a eye for a earthworks mic review video then . Do also check out the earthworks ethos if you can :) thanks for the reply tho
Love the idea of using that ifootage support rod as a tripod mounted boom. Might steal that one 😅
EDIT: Nevermind, my new Sachtler doesnt have mounting points, dang
Ahh bummer! You might be able to rig up a clamp of some kind- that is a super nice tripod!
Tom, thanks for the tour! Can I ask what shade of blue paint you used on your accent wall?
It’s Behr “Living Stream” flat from Home Depot 👍
@@tombuck Thanks, it came out great! drive.google.com/file/d/1wgM8G7uoJkm9mkeHdQx63Ui-3v1StyGZ/view?usp=sharing
I've always wondered where you buy and what brand your XLR cables are. Wondering if you would ever do a video talking about cable recommendations/review? from budget friendly to premier? thanks!
Most of my cables are just from Amazon, but I'm honestly not an expert in that area. I do know that Podcastage has some really great videos about cables, and I trust Bandrew's expertise 👍
@@tombuck thank you!
Notification gang checking in
Love your content, I’ve noticed your new rodecaster boom arm on your setup. Any help to make the same arm setup on my setup. Any insight will help . Thank you and bless
I need to make a video on the arm specifically, but it's this one and it's been great: geni.us/bOkzyk1
Hey Tom! What’s the main tripod? I’m trying to find it with mounting points! That’s what I’m looking for! 😍
It’s this one: bhpho.to/3lRoTyz
I was lucky to find it on a Black Friday sale at B&H, since it had been on my wish list for a long time. I really like it. It’s super sturdy and can handle a ton of weight (like my old tv camera) 👍
Excelling video and quality as normal. Quick question what clamp are you using to clamp ifootage boom arm to you tripod??
It’s one of the iFootage quick releases that’s mounted directly into a 3/8” mount on the tripod 👍
@@tombuck Thanks for responding and everything you do!!!
Thank you for the interesting studio tour! Just out of curiosity: I was wondering what kind of a pop filter you have on the Podmic that is mounted on the wall. Did you built it yourself or is it something you bought?
It was actually a gift, but it’s 3D printed based on this design: www.thingiverse.com/thing:4327068
Hello, Tom!
Before this video I thought you have a very big room, but it's like mine - like 12 square meters.
I'm trying to get same video depth as in your video and it looks like you have drum set far far away, but it is so near :)
How do you get it? Is it full frame camera and some lens?
Thanks for your video!
My space is VERY cramped haha. I can easy reach behind my chair and touch the drums. But do have almost 2 meters between me and the wall, so that combined with a lens at f1.4 gives the shallow depth of field.
if you could only keep 1 camera in ur setup what camera what u keep?
I think the a7S3 is most practical since I do mostly video. The EVF is super helpful on bright days and I could always get the XLR inputs similar to the FX3 if I needed them.
Tom - any model info on beefy Manfrotto Tripod. Thanks
There's a link in the description but it's the 504X Fluid Video Head & MVTTWINMA Aluminum Tripod (very catchy name I know).
Which videos have you used the anamorphic lens for? Why did you choose the 50?
I’ve been using it for a lot of b roll shots and a few talking heads (but I crop in so you don’t see the letterboxing). I’ve also used it in a few videos that aren’t out yet, inlicuding one where I did keep the full anamorphic filed of view for the talking head. I love it.
50mm just seemed like a good focal length for me. I saw a documentary series last summer where they used a 50mm for interviews and I thought it looked amazing. It was “One Day In America”, the National Geographic series about 9/11. Really tough to watch but very well done.
Awesome man.
I'm a drummer.
You did great in your studio 👏👏🤟
Thank you! Always nice to hear from a fellow drummist 🙏
Great video, and great setup! Where can I find your livestreams?🤗
There are some on my channel (but I often enlist them afterwards). My wife and I usually do a stream every Thursday on her channel @heatherjustcreate
@@tombuck Thank you🤗
What brand of XLR cables do you use? You inspired me to purchase a RodeCaster Pro 2 and I would like to color match my ports :) Like the master
Most of mine are from a brand called "Dremake" on Amazon. They're ok, but I have had to re-solder a few over time). Rode announced last summer that they'd have their own colored cables, so I'm still anxiously awaiting those, because I'm sure they'll be really good.
@@tombuck Thank you sir! And as I always say, you are the best! LOVE your style, your videos and amazing source of inspiration! Thank you for everything you do
Dear Tom, please can you tell us the model of the Manfrotto tripod and the boom arm, thanks and have a nice day from Italy
forgive me - i found it. 🙂
I'm glad you found it! Both the tripod and the iFootage arm are terrific. I did have to use a separate iFootage Quick Release mount though, since the arm comes with a clamp (which is also super useful).
for talking head video, what lens do you use?
Sony 24mm 1.4 👍
(I also used the Sigma 24 1.4 too, which is quite a bit cheaper)
You have so many tube lights that it's almost as if you took a vow of Pavo-ty
🏆👏
Yes! I love studio tours. I'm here for the GAS.
You've got a bad case of chronic GAS 🩺
